08.05.2022 Few crews out today before our general meeting

04.05.2022 A pleasure tonight to cox a boat for our Vietnam Veterans, TJ, Kempy, Jimmy and Stinga and they still put in

02.05.2022 Hi all, it looks like our previous Facebook page @Renmark Rowing has been sending out friends requests to people. It’s the one with the historical eight photo on the front page. This is our current site, so please ignore messages that may appear from the old defunct page. Many thanks, Renmark Rowing Club Inc.

29.04.2022 Today we enjoyed some Xmas cheer at our end of year BBQ. The boys took the opportunity to turn back the clock in a heritage row. Back in the old wooden 8 using the old croker oars. Some of our brand new rowers back again for some more time on the water. Congratulations to female Rower of the Year Karen Trenwith and male Rower of the Year Stinga Nettle. Merry Christmas

18.04.2022 Had a really good turn out for our come and try day, 4 crews of 4's out on the water with some exciting potential. #renmarksa #renmarkrowing #renmark ... #murrayriver #rowing #rowingsa See more

13.03.2022 Well our 2021 regatta is done and dusted. 866 participants, over 220 races over 2 days, great weather, the Riverland turned it on. Big thanks to all our volunteers for their amazing efforts. Thanks to the Renmark Paringa Council staff that made it work. Thanks to all our incredible sponsors. A big thank you to the local residents at Jane Eliza for allowing us to host this amazing event.

25.01.2022 Renmark Rowing Club Inc. 2019 Renmark Rowing Regatta in perfect conditions and on a perfect site. Big congrats to Renmark Paringa Council for providing such a magnificent venue with apparently over 370 entries.

25.01.2022 2020 WHARF TO WOOLSHED CANCELLED With the current closures and social distancing recommendations, the RRC Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel this year's long row event. Last year, we hosted around 100 rowers who took part in the 36km journey from RRC shed upriver to the Woolshed Brewery.... Whilst their cellar door is currently closed, you can still support the Woolshed Brewery by purchasing their products online https://www.wilkadene.com.au/our-range or follow their Facebook page. We are looking forward to welcoming you back to Renmark in 2021

24.01.2022 WHAT A WEEKEND! There will be some sore bodies this week. Remember to take the time to recover properly. A huge congratulations to the 96 rowers and coxswains across 20 crews who meandered their way up to the Woolshed Brewery yesterday. After a somewhat misty start, the row ended in sunshine ... Yesterday we heard some inspiring stories from many crews. From the Renmark Men’s 8+ who only began rowing together in February, to the over eighties Riverside crew who demonstrated that age is absolutely no barrier. This event is for rowers of all ages and abilities. Thank you to Grant Schwartzkopff for the photos. Take the time to check them out in previous posts when you get a chance. : Grant Schwartzkopff Photography Riverside Rowing ClubAdelaide Rowing ClubPort Pirie Rowing ClubBerri Rowing ClubCapital Lakes Rowing ClubGoolwa Rowing Club

24.01.2022 | CHALLIS FAMILY THANKYOU | The Challis Family would like to pass on their thanks to the Club. Richards service today was truly reflective of the incredibly interesting and unique person we knew him to be. May he rest easy. The service can be rewatched on the link in the previous post.

22.01.2022 HOCKEY PLAYERS turned to ROWERS? In recent weeks, the Renmark Hockey Club boys have swapped their sticks for slightly longer sticks... trying their hand at some pre-season rowing. They've been game enough to get one of the eights out and to be honest, were looking pretty sharp this morning! Thanks @Tony Townsend for coordinating this lot! Rowing is a great off-season or pre-season fitness activity - get in touch to found out how we might be able to cater for your club.... Renmark Hockey Club Photo cred: Merridy Crook

14.01.2022 RRC COVID UPDATE 1 June, 2020 It's been a long few months and we know we have members itching to get back out on the water and back at the shed again.... As of today, restrictions in South Australia have been eased somewhat allowing contact/ non-contact sports to start back up - in a modified way. With regard to rowing, particularly crew boats, it is not clear where we stand with regard to social distancing (we all know its near impossible to stay 1.5 metres from the seat in front or behind you!) The Committee are currently finalising our COVID-Safe Plan, a requirement to start up again. There will be some changes around the Club as you would expect. Please keep an eye on your email as we will be sending out further information on this. ALL MEMBERS will need to be aware and adhere to these changes as best as possible. For now, the Club remains closed - but with a reopening in the very near future!

14.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all our rowing mums After a delay in the broadcasting, this is on today, 12.30pm on Channel 9. A great historical sporting doco about a real life Motley crew who paved their own way to the 1924 Paris Olympic Games - all from one of our sister river clubs, the Murray Bridge Rowing Club. Be inspired.

13.01.2022 Exciting things starting to happen downstream at Murray Bridge!

13.01.2022 A nice little write-up about Life Member, Ted James, who is also a St Peter’s College old collegian.

13.01.2022 Sunday 1st November is the date for a cleanup and working bee at the Club following Rowing. Bbq provided ( with Covid rules)! All welcome

12.01.2022 COVID-19 TEMPORARY CLOSURE Whilst probably not unexpected, the Renmark Rowing Club has shut up shop for the foreseeable future. This includes activities on and off the water. Following advice from Rowing Australia, Rowing South Australia and relevant health authorities, the current strict restrictions have meant all activities are to cease for the time being. We will advise when this changes.... Please stay safe and practice social distancing.

11.01.2022 Congratulations Murray Bridge Rowing Club! A project that has been MANY years in the making

11.01.2022 Renmark Rowing Club Inc. success at the 2019 Renmark Rowing Regatta

10.01.2022 PICNIC ROW On Sunday, the RRC hosted Berri and Waikerie rowing clubs for a social row up to Lindner's Landing (and back). 6 crews hit the water for the 20km voyage. It was a great inter-club event for the Riverland clubs as well as an opportunity to row with different people and in different boats.... A special mention to the Renmark Hockey Club mens crew who completed the full distance in their eight (a true motley crew if ever I saw one!) Thanks to Max Burr for thinking to bring his camera to take some snaps - they are in the Picnic Row album. Berri Rowing Club Waikerie Rowing Club

10.01.2022 In response to the latest Covid outbreak in Adelaide, and in line with SA government and Rowing SA guidelines, all outdoor and indoor rowing activity at RRC has been suspended from midnight tonight( 16/11), for the next two weeks. Updates will follow as soon as we hear more. Take care everyone.

10.01.2022 Tune in tomorrow (with your mum!)

09.01.2022 REMINDER: The RRC Annual General Meeting is to be held at the shed this Sunday 20th September at 10am sharp. Look forward to seeing as many members there as possible :)

08.01.2022 EDIT: this viewing has been postponed until Sunday May 10 at 12pm. If you havent seen this doco already, its premiering on Channel 9 at 12pm Sunday 26th April. With no Olympic Games to be held this year, why not get your Olympic fix by heading back to the 1924 Paris Games where the Australian Eight was made up of all crew members from the Murray Bridge Rowing Club. Follow their journey - it was an interesting and inspiring one

04.01.2022 MEET AUSTRALIA'S OLDEST ROWER Renmark born Ted James is the oldest competitive rower in Australia, at 93 years old. He was back in his home town... this weekend to compete in the Riverland Regatta for the Renmark Rowing Club Inc.. Mr James says he came last in his race on Saturday which isn't uncommon...but was quick to point out he was rowing against 62 year olds...people 30 years younger than him! "I didn't have enough of a handicap, but it didn't matter, it was just lovely being out on the river again," he said. The senior athlete says it's never too late to take up the sport, because he only started in 1988, when he was 62 years old. "I took it up when I returned to live in Renmark. I played cricket and tennis, golf and then water skiing [when I was younger], so I never got around to rowing," Mr James said. Rowing is now a favourite pastime for the former Riverlander. "It's just beautiful out on the river. [To train for competitions] I just row. I don't like exercise machines, never used them, but I coached for 30 years," he said. "I'll still row if I've got a possibility...but this is my last competition ever." Three cheers for Ted! Do you know an older member of the community doing great things? Share their story with us. - Ted James at the Riverland Regatta. ABC Riverland.

03.01.2022 WINNERS! The only winning Riverland crew this weekend in the Masters Quad Scull. Les Lennell (Waikerie), Tom Sullivan, Steph Turnbull, Anna Petersen (all Renmark) and Cox Katrina Webber (Waikerie).

02.01.2022 Renmark Rowing Club Inc. held Day 2 of the 2019 Renmark Rowing Regatta on Sunday in perfect conditions. Thanks to Sally for organising a boat so I could get out with the rowers on the river and thanks to Ben Wilkinson for cruising me up and down the Murray.

01.01.2022 | Vale Richard Challis | It is with great sadness that we inform our members, and the community, of the passing of RRC member, Richard Challis. Richard joined the Renmark Rowing Club in the early 2010s after moving to the Riverland with his partner, Helen. Having not rowed before, Richard fell in love with the sport, aiming to be on the water 2-3 times a week. He enjoyed the single scull, but never hesitated to fill in a seat in a crew boat either.... Richard became very passionate about the RRC and was appointed as Secretary for the Club in 2011 and held that position until 2017. He was extremely diligent in this role with an eye for detail. His ideas and contributions to committee meetings were constructive and thought provoking and he was often one of the first to put his hand up to help out with any upcoming tasks. Richard enjoyed participating in club events including the Riverland Regattas and the Wharf to Woolshed Long Row. He was a great supporter of these. He will be sorely missed by the Club. Our sincerest condolences to his family. **Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Richards funeral will be family only, but there will be online streaming with details and a link provided in tomorrow (Saturdays) Advertiser.**
