25.01.2022 Today we remember all of those Australians who gave their lives during the war. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning... We will remember them. Lest we forget

21.01.2022 At this time in South Australia it is not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended to wear a mask when out in public and you can’t physically distance (1.5m fr...om others). Please note: children under 12 years of age do not need to wear a mask, as they may not be able to handle it safely. The term ‘face mask or mask’ includes reusable cloth masks, and single-use face masks (commonly called surgical masks). At this time, ‘fitted’ face coverings, such as bandanas, scarves, or neck gaiters can be used if you are unable to find a cloth mask, or single-use surgical face mask. Face masks that have unfiltered one-way valves should not be used. Important things to remember about wearing masks: 1 Once your mask is on, it is important that you don’t touch or adjust the front of it while wearing it it’s the part that’s protecting you from COVID-19. If you do touch it by accident, wash or sanitise your hands right away. 2 Before putting your mask on and after taking it off, remember to thoroughly wash and dry (or sanitise) your hands. 19.01.2022 SPOTLIGHT ON STAFF Time to learn some more about our fabulous Teacher, Mrs Menzel! What is your role at Renmark North? ... Teacher Where is your favourite holiday destination? I loved skiing in Switzerland and France, but I think my favourite ‘recharge’ place would have to be Robe and Beachport. What kept you entertained during COVID? Life for me didn’t really change during COVID I did spend more time at home playing more with my small children. Do you have a skill or talent most people don’t know about? I’m quite good at painting walls in the house, and 'handy-man' jobs around the house. If you could eat dinner with someone famous, who would it be? I listen to Mia Freedman’s podcasts a lot and would love to have dinner with some of the people she has a 'no filter' such as Claudia Karvan and Daisy Turnball, but if they weren’t available I’d love dinner with William McInnes. What would you sing at a karaoke night? Oh gosh, I love singing, however I am terrible (so much so that my Year 12 choir conductor asked me to mouth the words for our competition night). So I’d sing anything but it would clear the house!! What are 5 things that make you happy? My family My dog Walking Bike riding Cooking/Baking (no dinner and the everyday stuff, but pretty cakes and desserts) If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be? A nurse or a farmer. What’s the favourite part about your job? It’s different every day which prevents boredom. However the thing I love the most is 'the light bulb moment', that moment when a child finally gets something that you have been teaching and you see their face light up and the light bulb light up above their head. Does pineapple belong on pizza? Most CERTAINLY!!

19.01.2022 Bags bags bags Please read the information below about the RNS bags that are going to be on offer for students in 2021

18.01.2022 W O B B L E C H A I R S Wobble chairs are used in classes by students to help increase their focus and attention span. This allows for improved learning and a more effective learning environment as some students learn best while they can move while sitting. Governing Council suggested purchasing some Wobble Chairs for each classroom as they have had such a positive impact on the students who are currently using them. Bakers Delight, an anonymous parent and school fundra...ising money has allowed us to purchase 20 stools which will be used across the school. Renmark North School would like to thank Bakers Delight, parents and the Governing Council for their contribution towards the Wobble Chairs.

12.01.2022 SPOTLIGHT ON STAFF Get to know the teacher who has been guiding our students in their final year of school for the past few years, Miss Yates! What is your role at Renmark North? ... 6/7 Teacher & Wellbeing Leader. What’s your favourite subject to teach? Maths! I was not confident with Maths at school and only found my love for it when I started teaching. I make it my mission each year to change my kids attitudes towards Maths. Where is your favourite holiday destination? I’m half Canadian and I am hoping to get to Canada sometime soon to see my sister who is living there. What kept you entertained during COVID? Playing Eukor (cards) with my sisters and parents and binge-watching documentaries and crime shows. Do you have a skill or talent most people don’t know about? I cook a perfect poached egg, every time. If you could eat dinner with someone famous, who would it be? Any of the Seinfeld cast. Dinner with Kramer would be a laugh. What would you sing at a karaoke night? Justin Bieber. What are 5 things that make you happy? Family and friends, cooking, cards/board games, when Port win and when Crows lose. If you weren’t an educator what would you be? Teaching was the plan from day one. So, something involving kids I would imagine. What’s your favourite part about being an educator? There are not many jobs where you get to laugh as much as I do. Every day is different, but you always leave with a positive moment in mind or a funny story to tell. It’s also very special being a 6/7 teacher. I love being involved in making students last year of Primary School memorable and making them feel special and appreciated. I have so many awesome memories with the amazing North kids over the years. Does pineapple belong on pizza? Yes! Give me all of the pineapple!

07.01.2022 Hi everyone, Please see the following information from Mary about COVID 19 COVID 19 Update 17th November 2020... Information currently supplied from the Department for Education from SA Health. 1. Swimming lessons at public pool or aquatic venues must be postponed or cancelled until at least 2 December. Our school we have lessons at our school pool not in at Renmark Pool. 2. Functions held on school grounds, such as graduations and end of year concerts, are excluded from the new direction requirements. However, advice from SA Health is to limit the number of people where possible until we have a clearer picture of the COVID-19 situation in South Australia. Limit attendance to staff, students and immediate family (parents/guardian and siblings), and place caps on the number of people attending to ensure all adults can physically distance. At this stage all graduations, end of year celebration night, Children’s University Assembly we go ahead we will need to possibly look at limiting numbers of attendee’s. Information will be shared as it comes to hand. Mary Shannon

End of Year events Currently, due to the COVID-19 restrictions from SA Health we are unable to have families onsite to attend assemblies or events. These conditions hopefully may be lifted/adjusted from Tuesday, December 1st. Until then, staff have discussed the following events planned on the calendar with Plan A and Plan B, depending on the outcome. We will continue to communicate and provide updates as news comes to hand. End of Year Celebration This was planned for Thursday evening, 3rd December; unfortunately due to restrictions and late notice it cannot go ahead as we had previously planned. We hope to hold a school assembly during the school day so that students still have an opportunity to perform. Raffle Governing Council has decided to postpone the raffle until Term 1 of 2021. Thank you to families who have donated. If you have any questions regarding the raffle, please contact Nadine 85953274.
