23.01.2022 Shortly after 10pm last night crews were called to reports of a tree branch falling on a car. Upon arrival there were crews from Berri SES and Glossop CFS who witnessed the incident helping the owner. During the small wind just a branch had detached itself and fallen on the road in front of the vehicle causing a collision at 90kmph. ... Thankfully nobody was hurt and the branch was able to be cleared and the vehicle removed by a tow truck. Thank you to all the volunteers who responded and made the road safe for all motorists.

21.01.2022 Are you in town checking out the rose festival?? Why not pop down to the markets near the public library and say hello to our wonderful volunteers and have a chat about what the SES does for your community during times of emergency.

21.01.2022 Happy volunteers week. Our volunteers are here to provide help and assistance to the local community 24hours a day 7 days a week. 21.01.2022 Triple Zero (000) callers will now be able to easily tell operators their location during an emergency. The Emergency+ app was relaunched today with what3words... functionality. This will allow callers to Triple Zero (000) to use three key words to help communicate their location in areas or situations where this may be difficult. South Australia Police are already using what3words to assist members of the public. On 6 October police received a call from campers who had been bogged in the Chadinga Conservation Park near Ceduna, a 118.5km2 area. By using what3words, police were able to locate and assist the campers by sending a mechanic to them. The Emergency+ app is free and available on iOS and Android devices through the Google Play and Apple stores.

21.01.2022 Crews have returned from calls of a fire on Bulyong/Longwang Island. Shortly before 8pm crews were called to assist the CFS with Rescue 81 (our marine vessel). Upon travelling upstream from Jane Eliza it was discovered the reported fire was actually a private burn off near Murtho. Thanks to all members of the CFS and SES involved in this favourable outcome ahead of the TFB tomorrow.

18.01.2022 What a night!! We started the night with our volunteers responding to a large tree down covering most of the road out front of Mallee Estate. We worked with the Renmark MFS to clear the road and let traffic resume as normal. ... After returning to the unit we undertook our weekly training which was a simulated building impact with a pedestrian stuck under the vehicle. The casualty was successfully removed and the scene made safe. A massive thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time to train and respond tonight!!

16.01.2022 In the lead up to International Men’s Day this Thursday, we’re shining a spotlight on some of the men at the SA State Emergency Service. They will share some of... the highlights of being an SES volunteer as well as what they would say to others out there who are thinking about joining the SES. Say hello to Dave, a volunteer at the Port Lincoln SES Unit. I’ve found it a real opportunity to grow and develop, realise my strengths, identify my weaknesses, and grow as a person, team member and leader. Members develop a real sense of pride. There’s something very special about volunteering your time to help others in need. There is no other feeling quite like it. If you are thinking about joining SES, I encourage you to contact your local unit to see what they do. You will be surprised at the many and varied roles within each unit. Yes, sometimes it’s challenging, and yes sometimes we get busy! But the personal rewards, the training which transfers well into normal everyday life, and the opportunity to gain new skills and grow as a person are well worth the time and effort that you put in. Not to mention being there in times of need. When someone really needs help, you arrive and put your training and skills into practicethe sense of pride and achievement you get from that is impossible to put into words. Give it a go. You may just surprise yourself at what you are capable of.
