23.01.2022 With fingers crossed for approval of our new course, I will resume the countdown we started 2 weeks ago. With 3 sleeps to go, here are a few more facts about Renmark parkrun. Since July 16th 2016 we have had:... 193 events 1,813 finishers... ... who have all finished the course a total of 11,004 times These participants have come from 129 different clubs around the world See more

23.01.2022 Have you ever heard of a parkrun freedom run? Well, let me tell you a little about that! A parkrun freedom run is the ability to record your time if you walk, jog or run one of our courses at a different time to the normal parkrun. It doesn't even have to be on a Saturday....it can be any time. I tend to forget about the freedom run, as we are guilty of waiting for Saturday morning so we can get our parkrun fix. ... 2 reasons why i'm posting this today....1. Because we currently don't have our normal course available due to riverfront redevelopments and 2. because while away recently, i stubbled across a section of the beautiful Nuriootpa parkrun course. I google searched and found their course map. This in turn resulted in me running the course yesterday morning. I then logged it as a freedom run. Although the timing, the other participants, the photographer and the camaraderie wasn't there, it still felt amazing to run a parkrun course! So how do we log a freedom run?? If you go to your parkrun profile and log in https://www.parkrun.com/signin/, enter your athlete barcode number (A........) and password. Click on the freedom tab and follow the prompts. It's as easy as that! Here are some pics of the Nuri course for you to enjoy! ~Annette~

19.01.2022 OK all you runners, walkers, pram pushers, dog walkers & anyone else I've missed, only one more sleep until another RENMARK pARKRUN!!! The weather should be fine so no excuses!! Usual place, usual time, usual rubbish coming from me!! Seeee Yaaaaa!! (P.S. Lee Stevens & Di Trautwein, please remember to bring your bar codes!)

19.01.2022 Overnight update from parkrun Australia: South Australia (SA) Since our last update, we have reached the point where we now believe that all 38 parkruns in South Australia comply with SA Health requirements. We have therefore sought written permission from the SA Government for parkrun to reopen.... We don't have a specific start date yet but this is the closest news we've had in over 6 months for a restart so exciting times ahead

19.01.2022 Hi parkrunners. It's time to get ourselves organised and fill this roster! We are almost covered for this coming weekend, pending our restart! But the weeks ahead look a little grim....if you can help out, please let us know what date and role you'd like to fill and we'll slot you in. Thanks! All going to plan, we'll see you this Saturday morning

17.01.2022 Hi parkrunners, planning is well underway for our restart next weekend....excited much?!! We have all volunteer roles filled for that day. Now its up to you guys to help out for the weeks following, Nov 28th. Do we have any takers?

17.01.2022 So it's less than THREE WEEKS now and Renmark parkrun will be making a COME BACK! But like the rest of 2020, things will be a little different. Here are a few changes we'd like you to be aware of: The run brief will be short and sweet to minimise time spent standing in a group. Please be really quiet for this short time so we can get it done.... Please make sure you and all the friends and family you bring along are registered. It's the best way to keep track of everyone. While we've always encouraged it, it is now really important to arrange yourselves at the start line according to your expected finishing time. This will minimise all the 'hip and shouldering', shuffling, tripping and skipping that happens as we start. High-fives are sadly not allowed. And neither is spitting, but who did that anyway... gross. At the end, please hold your barcodes towards the scanner from a distance. No more huffing and puffing all over our barcode scanner. More details to come over the coming weeks! Please comment or like this post if you agree to the new guidelines.

09.01.2022 Hi parkrunners, I'm sure you would all be getting your running gear out, ready to blow out the cobwebs. But unfortunately I don't have good news for you. After much deliberation between parkrun at all levels, we have to CANCEL Renmark parkrun until further notice . At this stage, it will be until the riverfront redevelopment is complete. This is scheduled for late Feb. The reasoning for cancelling is due to safety concerns of doing an out and back alternate course, result...ing in having to do 4.5 laps and the path being too narrow, causing congestion. From me as event director, I don't see it as an issue due to our low(ish) attendance numbers, (compared to some). But from a Global level this is not the case. Our awesome events team is trying to work on something else to get us through. How long this may take, who knows?! We know this is incredibly disappointing news to read but please understand this decision was out of our hands and something we tried so hard to avoid. I would like to thank Renmark Paringa Council for their ongoing support towards parkrun. You're tireless efforts behind the scenes to help us get going again has been really appreciated. Without you supporting us, we would never have a Renmark parkrun so thankyou! Thanks for your understanding Annette, Catherine and our events team

09.01.2022 Hi parkrunners. As per a previous post regarding a few changes for you all to adjust to while running/walking, there are also some things to consider when you volunteer. The full list is below but here are a few things to remember... PLEASE sanitize your hands on arrival - there WILL be sanitizer supplied. ... As we have for quite some time now, if volunteering as time keeper or barcode scanner, we need to use the virtual volunteer app - PLEASE be sure to INSTALL or UPDATE the Virtual Volunteer App and familiarise yourself with it before the day of volunteering Please remember to social distance where possible. Be kind to yourself and respectful to others

09.01.2022 On your marks! Get set! GO!!! Not yet... ... There's still a WHOLE week to go until parkrun starts. While we start counting down the sleeps - 7 sleeps to go - lets all share our favourite parkrun memory. What was your most memorable experience at parkrun?

08.01.2022 Hi parkrunners It is with great regret that we have to advise you all, tomorrows event has been CANCELLED. Please be aware this was not an easy decision and due to many many issues behind the scenes of making it happen this week, there are things out of our control that hasn't allowed that to come to fruition. ... Rest assured, we will be doing everything within our power to be back next week. Until then, we are sorry to get your hopes up and at the 11th hour have to cancel. In the meantime, go out and enjoy wherever your running or walking may take you. Thanks Annette, Catherine and our awesome team of RD's

07.01.2022 On your marks! Get set! WAIT..... The implementation of new restrictions around COVID-19 is causing some confusion about our 'Return to parkrun', this coming Saturday. ... The regulations were being carefully considered and clarification had been sought by parkrun Australia. Unfortunately, after much deliberation the sad news is below. We hope you all understand the situation we are in. We are ruled by SA Health/Government so this is totally out of parkruns hands. Thank you for your patience and please, please do your part and stay COVID-safe.

06.01.2022 Well done to all those who braved a bleak start to the day to make another successful Renmark parkrun! Also a big thanks to todays volunteers - Sue, Di, Jo, Elaine,Catherine, Steph, Karen & Janelle! Without volunteers there is no parkrun, plenty of empty spots for the coming weeks. So dont be shy, its not hard, & you get a free hot beverage of your choice too!! Also of course, a BIG congratulations to Lee Stevens for completing his 100th parkrun!! Well done to you sir!! Pics will be up shortly, stay safe & we will see you all next weekend!! Cheers!!!

02.01.2022 Hi parkrunners!! Exciting times as parkruns in SA try again this coming Saturday!! There will be a lot of information coming your way in the coming days to keep you all updated with covid regulations and things that may have slightly changed.... On top of that, I'm sure most of you have seen the Renmark riverfront development taking shape. This means our old course is not fully accessible. We are currently finalising our new alternate course and as soon as we get the tick from all the way in the UK we'll post the course map, including meeting places and new start line location. It's all happening!
