24.03.2022 Something to consider..... At the same rate of growth over the next 25 years, Australia’s national property values could rise to $2.9 million for houses and $2.1 million for units by 2043 If the historic averages play out over the next twenty five years, Sydney values would be breaking the $6.3 million mark and Melbourne would be over $5.8 million One thing that is certain is that housing markets will continue to move through their cycles, with periods of growth, decline and ...steady values conditions. History has shown that over time these cycles tend to smooth out the year to year volatility in growth rates. Source: CoreLogic Median values have been extrapolated based on applying the annual compounding growth in median values over the past twenty five years to current median house and unit values.

25.01.2022 Fire me, if you dare! When trying to work out the proportions of an external fire place, Peter mocked up a fire pace from some blue board, a brickies plank and left over block work. This was crucial as our client, Peter and Katie, wanted an fireplace ....and wanted a bench seat...which might as well be a floating bench seat...and by the way, it needs to be off-form polished concrete......so get it right the first time, or your fired! After some detailed formwork, and specialised steel reinforcement works, the final result has been stunning....watch this space for the night time shots which will highlight the concealed LED lighting below the floating concrete bench....did we forget to mention that, too!

22.01.2022 Due to fire regulations we were told ALL ceilings had to be removed and a fireproof ceiling reinstated in this unit as a condition of the DA and certifier. The owners were distressed, because they purchased the building because it had amazing Art Deco details that included decorative ceilings. Renovate 8 worked with the certifier to find a new paint. When applied it acheved the fire rating needed, thus retaining the original ceilings. We are wrapping the house to protect everything and we have one happy owner!

22.01.2022 It's Friday, it's hot......well done to the boys reaching the 3rd storey of the build at Woollahra. From Ground floor to the roof in just 5 weeks!

20.01.2022 The owner wants the wine cellar to have glitter walls. We are happy to work with everyone to get exactly what you want. So 6kg of glitter later. 2 external windows gives good ventilation and the drain in the floor will be fitted with a pump for emergencies. Note the ceiling hole, the client wants a glass floor from the living room looking into the cellar.... We worked within the budget to also use pathing paint with glitter on the floors. The last picture the client sent us, his first glass of wine in the nearly finished cellar. See more

14.01.2022 The custom built fireplace is coming along!

12.01.2022 The secret start to a great Box gutter.... When building box gutters, one of the greatest risks is relying on the sheet metal alone to form the box gutter! One of the best things you can do is to frame it....STOP.....THEN sheet it, mastic seal the timber, waterproof it.....and ONLY THEN install the box gutter sheeting on top of all that.... There are a few other critical things. It's worth the work. We use "best practices" so we all have peace of mind! See photos attached.

09.01.2022 Which way should I go? Why not try sideways..... Creativity sometimes come in simple, but dramatic ways. See how a simple twist on the traditional Australian timber hardwood fence can add character, colour, style, and privacy.... We do all types of landscaping too!

09.01.2022 Congratulations to our clients Richard and Catherine, as we start our next project Glebe. We are very excited to be involved with this project. (The fence is up, but that won't be enough to keep Norm out for too much longer).

09.01.2022 If you are buying or selling, remember we do landscaping to get you ready for sale or to make your new home perfect! If you are selling we do quotes for all building works to get your best price when sale. Or we can quote on a house you are looking to buy, so you know if this house could be perfect for you! ... https://www.domain.com.au//dwelling-prices-tipped-for-do/

08.01.2022 Check out this new kitchen refurbishment freshly completed. A testament on how to marry new age joinery with masterfully laid parquet flooring, laid in Herringbone formation to create a very classy look. Congratulations to our clients Max and Jennifer on a great design vision.

08.01.2022 Why you need to screw.... Ok, it's a cheeky title, but it's a serious subject - well at least for your investment it is. If you zoom in on the blue arrow you will see that scews, and not nails, have been used to fixed down the yellow-tongue flooring.... Why is this important? Well imagine the difference between a threaded spiral screw, biting and gripping into the particle floor board AND the joists below - as compared to a smooth un-threaded (and thinner) nail. When you are trusting your single largest investment to someone, it helps to know that even the smallest details matter.

08.01.2022 We guess if you have a backyard like this, then who wouldn't want to build a 60 square metre outside "deck"....but what a deck! Taking 2 months to build just the deck, the finishes and quality are amazing. We even "saved" the existing garden!

07.01.2022 Corridors aren't usually a "value add" to a build. But with the correct elements like classic colour, feature archway with a spectacular floor, it is a fantastic space that sets the stage for the rest of the house.

07.01.2022 Your builder is really your biggest Investment Manager.... Here is a video that's currently doing the rounds on social media. The home owners of this tragedy are "blessed" it happened now, and not later. It's so important to engage the right trades, and to make sure your certifier or engineer sign-off the structure before you pay the Framing claim.... Your home or renovation is likely your single largest investment - it's critical that your builder meets the same standards you'd expect from an Investment Manager.

03.01.2022 Another quality bathroom finished and successfully handed over. Great use of natural light against mosaic tiling; and a clever use of wall niches and a drawered-vanity as an alternative to the classic medicine cabinet. With a secret linear grate for the full length of the bath (you'll really need to zoom in to find it), we've come up with a really neat way of handling any excess water from the hob. Congratulations to the team on a well-crafted finish

03.01.2022 Whats first, whats next, and when do we expect to finish? How many contractors will you need to achieve a certain time line? When will I need to order my tiles, taps, toilets?... When do I need to order any long - lead items that need to be booked well in advance to keep programme? When should I give notice to terminate my current rental? Or can long can I stay living here? Is it necessary to stage the works to accommodate some special requirements and what does that do to the programme? When should I start planning my furniture? When should I book the utilities (water, gas, electricity, internet, etc) HAS YOUR BUILDER GOT A PLAN???

02.01.2022 Landscaping is in our DNA, too. Having worked with our client and their designer to transform the existing backyard, a part of the brief was to keep the existing tree but to tastefully include it within a destination zone - somewhere for the family to retreat outside. An understanding of the shadowing impacts from the house combined with a clever, but simple, orientation change of the decking in addition to the raised decking area, creates a destination zone which is well defined and provides shade from the existing tree - all day long. Well done to the team.
