23.01.2022 The entitled and elitist 'dole bludger' narrative is a massive mistake for Morrison and he will live to regret it. This is because for the first time it is pate...ntly obvious, (even amongst die hard LNP supporters) that it is political spin and devoid of any sense of reality. The whole employment issue is fraught with incredible political danger for Morrison now. If he does not provide the newly unemployed - under-employed and hidden unemployed - with reliable income - the whole economy will crash disastrously. If he does do - what he now knows he can do - then his whole neoliberal narrative will be demonstrated to be full of fallacies. The reality is that the real figures of unemployed are massive and no mainstream economists, pollsters or researchers are admitting it. Consider the following from the ABC as one of the very few exceptions: https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-australia-job/12247990 Consider the research from Ray Morgan in late April, 2020: "New research from Roy Morgan into the impact of the ‘Coronavirus Crisis’ on Australia’s employment market shows over two-thirds of working Australians (68%) have had ‘a change to their employment’ due to the pandemic according to interviews with 1,444 Australians aged 14+ conducted over the last week. Australians in the workforce were asked: As a result of the Coronavirus Crisis, have you experienced any of the following employment changes. Some people reported several changes to their working conditions since the Coronavirus like being stood down, having reduced hours and working from home. This reflects the changing nature of the situation for companies and employees as they navigate the crisis. The impacts on workers include: Having work hours reduced 3.8m (25%) 1.9m (12%) Stood down for a period of time 2.7m (18%) 2.4m (15%) Not had any work offered 2.4m (16%) 1.2m (8%) Had their pay reduced for same number of work hours 1.4m (9%) 320,000 (2%) Been made redundant 670,000 (4%) 670,000 (4%) TOTAL Had a change to employment 10.5m (68%) 10.5m (68%)" Source: http://www.roymorgan.com//8383-roy-morgan-coronavirus-cris
22.01.2022 You could be one of the 100,000 that could default on your home loan after JobKeeper probably ends in September. Senior economist are saying the situation post-September was fragile given Australia’s private household debt is among the highest in the OECD and is comprised mostly of mortgage liabilities. https://www.abc.net.au//covid-recession-mortgage-/12318274
20.01.2022 The good news on the Buffoon PotUS is that the American people have woken up and this criminally negligent PotUS will soon be gone. The bad news is that the Australians have not woken up to our Buffoon PM yet ...
16.01.2022 Here is an interesting article that discusses how Australia’s mean and punitive benefits system is a key tool for disciplining workers while amassing profits for private firms. What are your thoughts on this topic? https://www.jacobinmag.com//unemployment-industry-australi
15.01.2022 An Interesting Editorial From The Daily Mirror - United Kingdom - And A Damning Indictment For Right Wing Populists - That Should Be Setting Off Alarm Bells For... Australian Voters - Although It Clearly Isn't ... "Perhaps it is a coincidence that the countries with the highest number of Covid deaths are all led by right-wing populists. In the United States there have been 3,130,504 cases and 134,444 deaths, Brazil 1,623,284 cases and 65,487 deaths and the UK 286,979 cases and 44,602 deaths. The UK also has the unwelcome record for the second highest number of deaths per million people (656) after Belgium (843), according to the World Health Organisation. And the UK figure is much higher if you include excess deaths where corona-virus is cited as a contributing factor. There are all sorts of caveats here as reporting methods differ from nation to nation. Figures for other countries may not include deaths in care homes, for instance, and it is not certain the data from places such as China is reliable. But it is certainly worth exploring why the US, UK and Brazil all have such high death tolls. One reason may be the lack of state infrastructure to deal with a pandemic. Britain has struggled to match Germany's localised response primarily because the Conservative government scrapped regional health authorities and replaced them with the centralised Public Health England. The flaws in the US health and social security systems - there 32 million Americans without sick pay and 27 million without health insurance have been shamefully exposed. It may also be that right-wing populists, whose main currency is nationalism, have an overinflated faith in their country's exceptionalism and their own infallibility. Donald Trump has discovered that his usual political weapons of screaming on social media, self-congratulation and a willingness to spread disinformation are inadequate when combating a virus. His refusal to confront reality and his aversion to detail have only compounded the problem. This was something Angela Merkel highlighted on in a speech to the European Parliament yesterday. You cannot fight the pandemic with lies and disinformation any more than you can fight it with hate or incitement to hatred. The limits of populism and the denial of basic truths are being laid bare here. Democracies need truth and transparency, she said."
15.01.2022 Why A Guaranteed Job Is More Important Than Ever? When we have around 40% of our workforce unemployed, part-time or casual why would our Common Wealth government not issue more currency to invest in making sure every Aussie can have a full-time job? "It is not as if there is not the work that does not need to be done in our nation ... Is there?... https://youtu.be/8BgCr_5n8z8 If you want to know what a Job Guarantee initiative means go to: https://representus.com.au/policy/employment/ If you want to understand why a Job Guarantee is a far better inflation anchor, (than the ideologically driven neoliberal version), which keeps an army of unemployed, underemployed and hidden unemployed to manage inflation check it out at: https://pavlina-tcherneva.net/job-guarantee-faq/ There is no fiscal constraint on our central government. The only constraint is their passive authoritarian neoliberalism, which treats everyone and everything like a commodity to be traded and / or transacted. https://youtu.be/-b3tzpRBjdw It is time to use preferential voting to at least put one of your votes towards a public policy road map for a sustainable and fair nation:" https://youtu.be/2vfYPt3v7DU
14.01.2022 This article raised some interesting questions about productivity and how it is interpreted and what it means to different sectors of the economy. The discussions taking place now between the unions and the Government is about who gets what. It will be amazing if Aussie workers will gain much if anything from these productivity discussions. We will have to wait and see. Over the last 40+ years, most Aussie workers have gone backwards. Many secure, full-time jobs have disapp...eared, replaced by casual, gig economy, labour hire companies, part-time, contract work, automation mostly with no job security or work conditions. Many workers are now in a vulnerable position with no bargaining power. Everything this LNP government does it to benefit corporate mates and vested interests. Nothing this government does is for the benefit of ordinary Aussie workers. https://www.michaelwest.com.au/will-the-passage-from-jobke/
09.01.2022 Environmental vandals never give up their pursuit for profit no matter the environmental or social costs. The cancer of neoliberalism working at its best where everyone and everything is to be transacted for profit no matter what. Our political system has been hijacked by corporations and other vested interests who have no interest in doing what is best for Australia or our environment. Everything boils down to how much profit they can extract from everyone and everything. https://www.michaelwest.com.au/assault-on-environment-by-g/
07.01.2022 Black Lives Matter & It Also Really Matters When Police Officers Over-step the Mark Of Appropriate Behaviour.. In fact, black lives matter more now, because the...y are disproportionately feeling the hard edge of all that our society has to offer. The truth is that our society will never be right until the universal standard for our civil liberties, social justice and human rights is that all lives matter - equally. A Case In Point - There is no doubt that this young First Nations boy was cheeky and rude to the Police Officer. However, the standard of control - and behaviour - Police Officers have to always demonstrate - is far higher than an ordinary citizen, because of their disproportionate amount of power to the citizenry. What the senior NSW Police Commissioner should have done is acknowledge these facts. Why? Because this type of cowboy behaviour does lead to George Floyd type murders - that have undoubtedly occurred - directly or indirectly - intentionally or negligently - in the hundreds of deaths in custody of our First Nations brothers and sisters. I remind my reader that when someone is incarcerated - for any amount of time - there is a legal and ethical requirement for the state to exercise a duty of care towards them. Notice how the young bloke was held with his arms behind his back, (whilst his legs were swept from under him), and he hit the ground with his head and his body, with no means of cushioning the force. It could have turned out a lot worse for him. This is what one of my FB mates had to say about this really dangerous and inappropriate behaviour by a Police Officer. You can see it in this video and make up your own mind. "If public confidence in our police forces is to be maintained, senior officers will need to demonstrate a commitment to applying the law to all people, including their own officers, without favouritism or discrimination. Hence, the question that NSW Police Commissioner must consider is not whether the officer who recently kicked the legs out from under a young indigenous boy may have had a bad day, but whether, in doing so, he committed a criminal offence. The video of the incident provides prima facie evidence of an assault. It reveals no indication that the officer may have been acting in self-defence or that he would have been unable to arrest the boy without resorting to this conduct. The investigation has not yet been completed, but the public is entitled to expect that the eventual response will be driven by a fair and objective assessment of the evidence." "
07.01.2022 Why do I think that Scott Morrison is the Aussie version of Mike Pissants and Donald The Drumpf? Born Again Money Lender Religious Bigots: Firstly, because he i...s very similar in personality to the deeply deluded - other born again religious bigot - Mike Pissants - who is overseeing the unfolding disaster - that is the Buffoon Pot-US's response to Covid 19. And well - Donald The Drumpf - we can see how he is polling right now - at 36% with his cheap snake oil used car salesman spin without substance. Religious Bigots & Egocentric Narcissists - & An Unholy Trinity With Neoliberalism: 70% of Americans have woken up to The Drumpf's snake oil deceits and that is why his polls are sliding fast - even against the lite neoliberal - Joe Biden. As an aside there is an interesting comparison to be made between the weak kneed and clumsy mouthed - sleepy Joe - and the equally well-meaning but Awkward Albo. Both are more than likely to lead their respective nations, whilst the best that can be said for both is - they cannot be worse fools - than the fools they are likely to replace. However, it should also be said a kindly fool and cruel fool are still fools. Pain Is Sometimes The Spark That Ignites Into Flame: Like our American mates, Aussies need some time to work out what a disaster Morrison actually is. However, they will, because his luck will run out and when it does his deeply incompetent persona will be on full display. Unlike America, Australia was simply plain lucky in our central governments response to Covid 19. This was largely due to our natural demographics - of a small population and a large land mass - plus the state and territory leadership wagging the central governments tail. It was the states and territory leaders that deserve the praise for the response to Covid 19. They led a reluctant Morrison to shut-down. However hang on to your seat we will soon see if our luck continues or not with Covid 19, however, more of a worry is .. Australia & The Post Covid Blues: With Morrison being motivated by flawed neoliberal economics - and obsessing with his anally retentive - binary budget deficit vs surplus mythology - as a measure of his incompetence ... It will be his economic response to post Covid 19 - that will put his polls on the same trajectory as the Buffoon PotUS. Regrettably, our nation will pay the price for his economic incompetence, ethical bankruptcy - egocentric narcissism - and deeply deluded prosperity theology. The Tragedy Of The Drumpf's USA: One final point I want to make and that is how tragic it is what we are witnessing unfold in the USA. Regardless of what I might think of some of the USA administrations, I feel deeply for the tragedy that the American people are now experiencing. Consider the following facts about the Covid 19 impact on the US as of last Sunday and you should appreciate why I say this: "The US has reported more than 42,000 new cases, nearly 15,000 more than Sunday last week and double the number reported on Sundays over the previous month. The five highest totals for new infections have been reported over the past five days, according to the Covid Tracking Project, and that is despite the fact that numbers reported on Sunday tend to be lower than during the week due to a lag in gathering the data. The 42,161 new cases reported on Sunday bring the US total to more than 2,540,983. There have been 119,429 deaths from Covid-19 recorded in the country so far. Experts say they would expect a lag of a few weeks between a rise in positive tests and a rise in the death rate." The USA is now accounting for around 20% of the total fatalities from the Covid 19 pandemic and it is rising quickly. Source: https://www.ft.com/con/801e3716-2c18-38a8-b443-d4c85193ae23 And all of this is happening whilst the Buffoon PotUS is now opening up the USA. FB mates this is a tragedy we are witnessing in the US of unheard of dimensions and sooner or later - one way or another - we will feel the ramifications of it in Australia - even without the fool we have to suffer in The Lodge!
06.01.2022 The neoliberal cancer of the LNP and their ideological agenda keeps on regardless. Ideology beats facts and independent advice. With the economy and labour marked heading off a cliff the federal government continues on its destructive path and are not doing anything practical about the rising high unemployment and under employment like offering a federal job guarantee that pays a dignified wage. The LNP is totally lacking a positive vision for Australia... https://independentaustralia.net//morrison-funds-new-kitch
05.01.2022 "The Destruction Of Open Society Is Not Being Caused By War Or Covid 19. It Is Being Caused By Politicians Who Care More About Their Bank Accounts & Investments Than The People They Are Meant To Represent .. A Case In Point: The fundamental problem about Scott Morrison and his lack of fitness to be a Prime Minister is his increasingly obvious poor judgment and his lack of ethics. Regardless of what some of the MSM promote as his record high poll ratings, the reality of his te...Continue reading
04.01.2022 Who Is The More Foolish? The Fool Or The Fools Who Follow The Fool. Remember reader, there is no fiscal constraint on our central government, because it issues ...the currency. So, when Morrison says, 'we can't keep paying 'job keeper' or afford to top up 'job seeker' and, 'we have to live within our means' there is no economic argument for it .. just neoliberal ideology, which prefers to treat everyone and everything like a commodity. It is a smoke and mirrors exercise to avoid our central government taking on any economic responsibility for optimizing the labour market component of the productive capacity of our economy. Yet, these tossers like Morrison persist in suggesting they are good economic managers! How absurd! The thing that those - apparently 68% of Aussies who think Scott Morrison is doing a great job - just don't know - is that the man is a complete and utter economic fool. He has the economic sense of a brick and what is coming is going to be extremely painful for many millions of Aussies. His hope - beyond hope - that he can just bluff his way through to the next election in 2022 - without the Australian economy falling off a cliff - is truly delusional stuff. And how much money he and the LNP - and their cronies - have swindled from our Common Wealth - to fund their political campaigns simply will not matter. You can't fool all of the people all of the time ... The truly sad irony is, (as I said) there is no fiscal constraint on our central government because it issues the currency. And, in tough economic times - like these certainly are - a massive investment in transitioning Australia to a carbon neutral nation make very real real sense. Not only could it soak up half a million Aussies every six months into full-time - central government guaranteed - full-time employment - it could also position Australia as a leader of the global response to climate change. Instead, we have to bare witness to the pariah - Pentecostal - preacher of money lending, snake oil spin. What I call anti-Jesus prosperity evangelism .. This type of Trump like deceit is what the anti-Christ truly looks like. Morrison was an incompetent Treasurer and he will be proven to be the worst PM since the formation of the Federation. This article provides some context for why I say these things ..
