21.01.2022 If you’re trying to fall pregnant, it’s important that you check your existing medications with your primary health care professional. While some medications will not negatively impact your fertility, there are some that can reduce your chances of falling pregnant. This also includes over the counter medications. To be safe, be sure to check with your GP or Fertility Doctor for the best alternative for any medications you are taking if you are trying to conceive.

19.01.2022 One of the biggest misconceptions about fertility treatment is that IVF is your only option. This is not true! There are other options which may be suitable for you. If you would like to explore what options might be right for you, contact us on 08 8333 8111. [Image description for screen readers: Man smiling at baby in his arms.]

18.01.2022 Egg freezing is a method of storing your eggs in an attempt to preserve fertility, allowing you to use them later to try and have a baby as we know egg quality and quantity declines with age. There are many reasons to freeze your eggs. Many women will experience the desire to have children at some point in their life. For some, this may come at a time where it is just not possible; whether that is because of career, financial or relationship status, or a combination. It is ...important to note that choosing to freeze your eggs does not mean you are robbing yourself of viable eggs from your ovarian reserve. Freezing your eggs just gives you more options. If you would like to explore whether egg freezing may be right for you, contact us on 08 8333 8111 or visit https://repromed.com.au/fertility-treatments/egg-freezing/ [Image description for screen readers: A fertility scientist lowers a straw into liquid nitrogen.]

12.01.2022 Dear valued Repromed patients, Recently we have had some enquiries regarding when our Mawson Lakes clinic may reopen. At the height of the COVID-19 concerns we made the decision to suspend services at Mawson Lakes to ensure we could safely continue providing our high quality of care via two physically separate fertility nursing teams coordinated through our Dulwich clinic. A decision which was in alignment with the government precautions set out at the time. This step was nec...essary to ensure that if a nurse contracted the virus, and their remaining team members need to self-isolate at home for 14 days, Repromed would still have been in a position to continue patient care. Fortunately the current number of COVID-19 cases in SA is negligible so we have reverted back to one fertility nursing team. However due to our strict protocols surrounding managing the risk and spread of COVID-19, in which our staff are required to remain at home - with even mild cold like symptoms - until their COVID-19 test results return negative, we feel it prudent to still manage patients from our Dulwich clinic. We anticipate this situation to remain throughout winter and into early spring in alignment with the cold and flu season. As such, Repromed Management has placed an anticipated reopening date for our Mawson Lakes clinic as Monday 28th September. Thanks for your understanding with this matter. Prof Kelton Tremellen

10.01.2022 Moderate exercise is a great way to help reduce anxiety levels when you are trying to conceive. We recommend the following for those who are trying to fall pregnant: * Brisk walking * Swimming * Yoga * Aerobics... * Bike riding * Jogging Remember not to overdo it; extreme exercise may affect your fertility adversely. We recommend speaking with your GP or Fertility Doctor about what is best for you.

10.01.2022 One of the trickiest things about falling pregnant naturally is knowing exactly when you're ovulating, especially if you haven’t been tracking your menstrual cycle. Start by noting when your period begins on a calendar or via the many apps available. Day 1 will be the first day of your full flow period and the last day will be the day before your next period begins. The average cycle is 28 days however it’s perfectly normal for a cycle to be between 24 34 days. Once you ...know how many days your shortest cycle is (eg. 28 days) and how many days your longest cycle is (eg. 30 days) then subtract 14 from these numbers (28 14 = 14 and 30 14 = 16). The earliest you are likely to ovulate is on day 14 and the latest you are likely to ovulate is on day 16 of your cycle. If you’re still struggling to conceive after 12 months if under 35yo or 6 months if you’re over 35yo, speak with your primary health care professional or call our team on 08 8333 8111 (SA) or 08 8945 4211 (NT) for a free chat about your options, or send us an email to [email protected]

09.01.2022 It’s never too early to be proactive about your reproductive health! Before you try to conceive, we always recommend that you and your partner (if applicable) have a fertility health check https://repromed.com.au/fertility-t/fertility-health-check/ This involves some tests to assess your fertility and identify any potential fertility issues that may make it difficult for you to conceive. To book your fertility health check call us on 08 8333 8111 (Repromed SA) or 08 8945 4211 (Repromed NT).

09.01.2022 One of the things we frequently get asked is what's included in our clinic-recruited sperm donor profiles. Our profiles include: physical characteristics, personality, philosophy on life, temperament, education, family medical history, their reason for donating. And all of our sperm donors are altruistic, meaning they don’t get paid for their donation (which is in line with government regulations). It’s a gift they give to help others start their family. Repromed also has acc...ess to one of the world’s largest banks of sperm donors via California Cryobank (CCB). CCB donors are specifically selected for our Australian donor program and comply with all Australian legislative requirements. If you’re interested in using donor sperm to start your family, contact our team on 08 8333 8111 (SA) or 08 8945 4211 (NT) or send us an email at [email protected] We’re also holding a webinar on Tuesday 14th July specifically on our Donor Program. To register visit https://repromed.com.au/seminars/

08.01.2022 Today is World Embryologist Day - a day to celebrate the outstanding contribution embryologists make in a patient's fertility journey. This day also marks the momentous medical and scientific achievement of the first baby to be conceived through IVF in 1978. To all of our dedicated embryologists and scientific teams and those across the globe, we want to thank you for your passion, commitment, care, talent and knowledge which you bring to your work that is so vital in helping to deliver the best possible outcomes for patients. A heartfelt thank you from all of us for helping so many achieve their dreams of starting or extending their family xx

07.01.2022 Sometimes the twists and turns of your fertility journey can be heartbreaking, frustrating and maddening. It can feel like you’re doing it alone. But please know that there are many others who are experiencing the same things as you. They have the same struggles as you, and are working towards the same triumphs. At Repromed we have doctors, nurses and counsellors who understand what you’re going through and know how to guide you on your journey. Even though at times it might feel like it, you’re not alone. There is an army of people behind you, lifting you up and cheering you on.

05.01.2022 Today we are celebrating Genetic Counsellor Awareness Day to raise awareness about the valuable role genetic counsellors play in healthcare. Thank you to our genetic counsellor who helps to share complex health information in an informative and supportive way. This vital role helps patients to understand their reproductive health and make informed decisions. In a tribute to all genetic counsellors, our team are wearing stripy socks to represent chromosomes. Credit to Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA) for the fun idea!

05.01.2022 If you’re experiencing infertility, you’re not alone. 1 in 20 men in Australia struggle with fertility. Luckily, there are many options now available to you. As a first step, we would suggest that you have a chat with one of our fertility doctors who can listen to your medical history and who can investigate what’s going on. Then they’ll work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan to help you start your family. Contact us today for a free nurse chat or to book your appointment https://repromed.com.au/chat-fertility-nurse/

02.01.2022 If you’re someone who's looking to make a positive difference in the world, consider becoming a sperm donor. It’s a generous gift that can change someone’s life for the better. Legally, sperm donors cannot be paid for their donations in Australia, but you can be reimbursed for reasonable costs, such as travel. Our sperm donors choose to donate for a number of reasons such as: they already have a family and want others to experience that joy, they haven’t had children but want someone else to be able too, or someone close to them struggled to conceive so they want to help others in a similar situation. If any of those reasons resonated with you and you want to learn more about becoming a Repromed sperm donor, send us an email to [email protected]

01.01.2022 Inline with the South Australian Government's announcement yesterday, it is now mandatory to wear a face mask in all health care settings which includes our Dulwich and Mawson Lakes clinics. Therefore if you are visiting us, please ensure you are wearing you own mask prior to entering our clinics. We also recommend being aware of and following government guidelines on Covid-19 to help reduce the risk of transmission, including; maintaining good hygiene and avoid touching your face, regularly using hand sanitiser, continue to use QR codes and regularly wiping down surfaces and high touch areas. Stay safe x
