17.01.2022 Went and had a quick look at Hunter Valley Zoo I arrived at 3pm and it closed at 4pm but I was impressed. I expected to see a load of natives and maybe a few exotics but there was heaps to look at. About 6 species of monkey, 4 big cats, 2 species of lemurs, zebras, alligators, ostrich, maned wolf, cabybaras (world’s largest rodent, meerkats, iguanas, tortoises, plus all the Aussie natives (koalas, tassi devils, wombats, echidnas, hundreds of cool birds) and farm animals. I didn’t see any shows being so late but the staff where very friendly and for $29/adult I would go back if I’m in town again and recommend the facility to anyone wanting cool wildlife experience
16.01.2022 New Taipan species Friend is visiting Uluru and took this photo not far from there. It’s the Western Plains Taipan (Oxyuranus temporalis) which was only discovered and prescribed as a new species in recent years. What an exciting find. I’m going to find out more about the location and add details in the comments. Has anyone else been lucky enough to photograph the new taipan?
