08.01.2022 The use of 'Dichroic' halogen globes in the herp community has become a growing concern of ours. We've been told they give out UVB that can be utilised by removing the glass lens. Firstly, this is a safety glass cover to protect from burns and cuts in the event of the inner globe exploding. The UVB output is also completely inadequate for any reptile and is accompanied by a dangerous UVC radiation, that can harm your reptile.... I am unsure where this misleading information is coming from, but I would encourage everyone not to take another's word as fact. There are a lot of people out there who will tell you anything to make a quick sale and this information can be potentially deadly.
