25.01.2022 Hey Team, The days are getting longer, the air is ever so slightly warmer and if you are anything like me, constantly looking out the window and wondering how soon we can get back on with real life, Beach volleyball life of course. I’ve been in contact with the council and it looks like we will be able to start playing again soon. Socially distanced and heavily sanitized of course. ... Currently we are on the second step towards Covid Normal. Which still mean that the courts are closed (which means please don’t bring along your own net and set it up) and that no sport training is allowed. Community sport training and competition cannot occur. Personal training is allowed, but not sports (I asked) so we are not yet allowed to train. All of the below information is very much subject to change and most likely last minute change. As you all know, it all depends on how we as a state move through the roadmap steps. Most likely we will find out a day or two before we are actually allowed to do anything. This is the best we will get for a while as no-one really knows what the future will look like in these odd and trying times. It looks very much like we will be able to put the nets back up at the start of Step 3, which is currently pencilled in for the 18th of October, which means that we should be back on for Saturday training, Sunsets, Altona and Republica Social 4’s very very soon after that. If you want to get involved in the Republica Comp, Shoot me an email and I’ll add you to the list! ([email protected]) Sadly, tournaments look to be only available from the last step, so likely from the middle of November. I will soon be releasing the 20/21 calendar, but please take it with a grain of salt because as soon as It’s released, it will be out of date. Please remember that the courts are all still closed and that you are not allowed to put up your own nets and play. This includes the South Melbourne and St Kilda West courts. We will soon be putting out a new Return to Sport document which will detail all of the steps/requirements/safety protocols that we all will need to adhere to for a safe, happy and successful return to doing what we love. Stay safe and sane out there and look forward to seeing your wonderful faces again soon. x

25.01.2022 Looks like we are back on! There are going to lots of specifications and requirements, but really who cares because we will be back on the sand very very soon. Here is a very basic plan of what is to come:... Ideally the courts will go back up on South Melbourne Beach on Thursday or Friday this week. We should be able to start Saturday training this weekend (31st of Oct) (Weather looks crap on Sat, classic Melbs) Republica will start next Wednesday (4th of Nov) and Sunsets will start next Thursday (5th of Nov). All of this requires council approval, and we need to get our return to sport policy ratified and then out to you guys to read. I wish that we could start again tomorrow, but it will take some time to get all the equipment woken up and out of hibernation. I’ll keep you all updated on what the council says and how things are progressing, but so excited to see you all again soon. al

08.01.2022 Loving being back at the beach and just can't get enough? You ask, we giveth. This season, every single Vic Beach competition event will host a 3-a-side competition as well! Grab your two fav mates or family members and lock the dates in your calendar to join us on the beach. We can't wait to share our Sunday events with the Republica crew!

08.01.2022 We are not going to be start playing Republica Beach Volleyball this week. The council is justifiably and understandably very nervous about letting us back on the sand. I was just in St Kilda at the beach and it is absolute chaos down there. I shall use all of my fancy words and best ideas to build a situation where we are as safe as possible and we are still able to play. It's important that we get this right the first time, so I'm happy to wait until (hopefully) next Tuesda...y, the 10th of November. Stay safe out there everyone. al

04.01.2022 In the light of the new restrictions and shutdowns being implemented across Victoria as we speak, the only logical step for us to take is to finish all of our Beach Volleyball activities as of 23rd of March. This includes Round 10 and Lorne, Sunset sessions, Republica Social 4’s, Altona Social 4’s and Saturday trainings. Thanks to all the coaches, managers, setup and pack down crew, physios, Osteos and volunteers who have helped make the summer as wonderful as it was. We will... start back up again heading towards a new summer and a new season just as soon as we can. Stay safe out there please. al

01.01.2022 The Vic Beach Corona Challenge! We are all in lockdown so lets have some fun The Vic Beach Corona Challenge is simple: Everyday at 10am, for 4 weeks, I will release the new challenge for the day. It will include a Fitness Challenge and/or a Volleyball Challenge and/or some other fun activity for you to complete.... Some of them you just do, some will be for time, some will be a competition some will just be to keep you active and entertained. Each activity will have a score associated with it and the person with the most points at the end of the 4 weeks will score a brand new Mikasa Beach Volleyball, (I’ll post it to you anywhere in the world) and second place gets a Vic Beach cap. I have built a spreadsheet on google sheets. If you want to take part in the VBCC, just pop your name on the spreadsheet and then everyday, once you have completed the challenge, mark off that it’s complete. https://docs.google.com//1jl7htQ_yjf86NeRCh3eTd1fkGn/edit Some of the challenges will require video proof and some will be first to complete gets maximum points. I am yet to lock down the points schedule, it will depend a little on how many people are playing along at home, but most likely it will be something like this. For the completion activities, when you complete it, you get a point. For the competition activities, the top person will get 5 points, 2nd will get 4 points and so forth that 5thand beyond all get 1 point. If we get lots of players, we may do the top 5 get 5 points, the next 5 get 4 points and so on You can join up at any time during the 4 weeks. If we have a tie at the end, I will devise an online comp to sort out the winner. We are kicking off on Monday the 4th of May, 2020. Oh, and entry if free of course. al
