24.01.2022 Sirius (that's the name I've given him) a mature boy deserving a better life... I meant to post this video earlier but somehow reposted the photo. See for yourself what a gorgeous smoochy boy he is. Microchip # 900038000235985... Location - Auburn (Sydney) See previous posts about how he's been let down terribly by his previous owner and the people they gave him to. This is our chance to help him live out the rest of his years in a home full of love for him. ~IttyBittyKitty xx
24.01.2022 FIV WEEK Blackberry Beautiful Blackberry is a purr machine and lap cat!! He has adjusted so well from a life on the street to life with his own indoor palace ... Berry loves to sit on his carer's desk behind her monitor while she works, sit on her lap and be brushed (see the video) and is now learning that being picked up for cuddles isn’t so bad. He has the most unique purr that is soooo soothing to listen to. He always makes her feel better as he’s such a sweetheart. His confidence is growing every day and she knows he’s going to make a wonderful companion for someone. Berry would be best suited to a home with a single or couple and no children, as he is still a bit shy and timid and hasn’t been exposed to children. He’d really suit an older person who just wants a cat to sit on their lap all day as he’s not interested in playing, he just wants cuddles and snoozes. He’s cat friendly and is but would also be fine to go solo. Berry is FIV+ like many other older cats we save from the streets. He also has kidney disease, but it has improved since he has been on a special diet and his blood test results are moving in the right direction. Berry will need to have this special kidney food and semi regular blood tests to monitor his condition for the rest of his life. Location: Annandale Age: Approx. 5-8yo Microchip no: 978102100288713 #fiv #fivcats #fivcatsofinstagram #fivcatsneedlovetoo #tommysrescue #sydneycats #blackcat #blackcatsofinstagram #catrescue #rescuecat #rescuedogsofinstagram
14.01.2022 FIV WEEK CONTINUES The ladies of Tommy’s Rescue all work full time jobs. For the most part, they self fund our rescue work- the exception is when lovely people like yourselves donate to help them and from the funds they get from adoption fees which help them take another cat into care. On top of the general stresses of life and rescue in general, it has been a huge year for FIV+ cats. They've had SO many. They get all our cats tested for FIV on intake. When they get the res...ults back that a cat is positive, they feel extra stress because they know that for absolutely no reason and for no fault of their own, that kitty will be extra difficult to find the right home for. They will inevitably have the cat in care for longer and have limited adoption interest. Here’s an example. Sarge is a smoochy, loving boy who loves pats and human attention. He has been in care since early 2020 and is ready for the forever home he truly deserves after a hard life on the streets thanks to the persistence, dedication and love of the tremendous Mel. Mel has SEVEN FIV+ cats in care at the moment, of which Sarge is one. Sarge is gorgeous and gentle. He would do best in a quieter home, with older children and could probably cope with a relaxed dog. He will still startle to loud noises, and will need a little time to settle in until showing you what a gorgeous boy he is. Once he’s settled, he’ll want constant love and attention. Please share this post and message us if you’d like to hear more about special Sarge. FIV isn’t a barrier. Adopt a cat who really needs your love and care and they will love you back even more than you could ever imagine. Age: Approx 8yo. Location: Springwood Microchip: 900079000550813
07.01.2022 Seeking a carer for this handsome boy over the upcoming heatwave weekend... Sirius (check out our other posts about him) 9 year old boy with vet work already done Location - Auburn (Sydney)... Microchip # 900038000235985 Contact - Venessa on 0458 240 560 We are also helping our friend Venessa to find a temporary carer for at least this weekend but possibly for longer if you are interested in assisting. Considering the heatwave forecast it is hoped that they can be taken to a home with airconditioning. He's currently being held in a temporary council holding area in the hope that a forever home can be found for him. Whoever can take him will need to keep him isolated from other cats as he's only just been surrendered to council by microchipped owner. Check out our previous posts about him if you haven't already seen it. Ultimately Venessa is seeking a forever home for this handsome boy. We are not seeking foster carers for RescueCat Project as the arrangement will be between Venessa and any individual who offers to help. However, we would love photos and videos so we can continue to help find a more permanent arrangement for Sirius. Contact Venessa on her mobile if you can assist. ~IttyBittyKitty xx
06.01.2022 Do any of you have an update on the latest on this precious oriental.? We are hearing rumours that the only way out of the pound is via a rescue. The cat disappeared off the pound website. This situation is heart wrenching for us and also for the original rescuers which is such an incredible story. https://www.facebook.com/585356401593486/posts/3209192869209813/?d=n
06.01.2022 FIV WEEK! THIS GUY!! Such a cutie MAJOR TOM You may have noticed many of our FIV+ cats are male, and often older males. WebMD for pets tells us the following:... Which Cats Are Most Prone to FIV? Although any feline is susceptible, free-roaming, outdoor intact male cats who fight most frequently contract the disease. Cats who live indoors are the least likely to be infected. You can read more here: https://pets.webmd.com//cat-fiv-feline-immunodeficiency-vi NOW... back to the man of the hour...Major Tom! This gorgeous smoochy man is guaranteed to ‘steal yo girlfriend’, Tom was originally part of our TNR program with a colony in Windsor. Tommy's Rescue found him beaten up with a few serious wounds including a claw weeping puss and discovered he was FIV (more info on that later), so he came into foster care with them for some TLC and antibiotics. After some dental work and his pain settling, Tom started showing them the loving snugglebug he was all along, and we just couldn’t release him back to the streets. Lapping up all the luxuries living indoors has to offer, Major Tom has settled into a life of snuggles, cuddles and just all round relaxation and comfort. He is slowly beginning to grow more curious, exploring the nooks and crannies of the house, and sometimes even playing a little, but mostly he just loves to snuggle next to his foster mum on the couch or in bed. He is a certified lap cat and absolutely loves it. Major Tom could do well with other cats if introduced slowly, but is more likely to flourish on his own as the apple of his foster humans’ eye. If solo, he would need a home where someone is around often so he doesn’t get too lonely. If you have a crush on Major Tom, don’t worry we can keep a secret! Send us a message :) As you know, Major Tom is FIV , which means that while he is immunocompromised (similar to HIV), if kept strictly indoors, up to date on flea/worm treatments and yearly vaccinations, and fed a raw healthy diet, he can still live a long healthy life. Cats with FIV rarely progress to AIDS (unlike the human virus), in fact only in 5% of cases, which means 19/20 cats will likely die of old age before anything FIV related. It is rarely transmitted to other animals (or humans) via casual contact, and only really becomes an issue if taking out pet insurance. Please don’t be afraid to adopt a FIV cat, they need loving homes too! Chip# 900079000390571
06.01.2022 Sirius (that's the name I've given him) a mature 9-year-old boy deserving a better life Microchip # 900038000235985 Location - Auburn (Sydney)... Check out our most recent post with more information on this beautiful boy who deserves beautiful loving humans. ~IttyBittyKitty xx
05.01.2022 Gizmo's legacy update: Peter pan kitties Tonight is the first for a, few things with these babies: all positives!... Tonight I saw mumma Tinkerbell groom herself for the first time Tonight I saw Wendy and Peter play with each other for the first time. I can't tell you how much this warmed my heart as it means they have excess energy to burn for the first time! They are no longer too hungry and lethargic to play. Tonight Wendy tipped the 300g mark on the scales for the first time weighing in at an amazing 305g! That means she's put on nearly 30g since yesterday, which is huge! (Peter also continued to put on weight) And importantly, tonight there was much less runny poo all over their crate, and what was there was a much more healthy dark brown colour instead of a sticky yellow mucus colour. The babies got a bath (as they do every day) the crate cleaned out, litter tray changed completely and a new towel put down for bedding. Stay strong little ones! I will keep fighting for you so stay strong for me.
02.01.2022 Gizmo in memory of you We are all really traumatised but also incredibly blessed to have been in the position to try to save this precious boy. We haven’t a name yet for the tabby mumma cat and 3 infants rescued today. Another tabby cat will be taken to vets tomorrow morning. More sick cats will hopefully be rescued as soon as possible from same colony on a private property. Please message us with details on how you want to assist
01.01.2022 Looking for carers for them for the upcoming heatwave weekend... Black mummy with her little Tuxie kitten Location - Auburn... Contact - Venessa on 0458 240 560 We are helping our friend Venessa to find a temporary carer for at least this weekend but possibly for longer if you are interested in assisting. Considering the heatwave forecast it is hoped that they can be taken to a home with airconditioning. Venessa can supply a crate or they could be kepe in a bathroom or ensuite situation providing no areas for them to hide. It is required that the mum and bub aren't mixed with any other cats because they need to do at least a fortnight of isolation from others. They have not had any vet work done yet. Background. This beautiful shy black mumma cat and her little tuxie kitten were picked up by local council staff and are being held in a temporary holding area rather than being sent to the local pound. There is no previous owner to find so it makes no sense for them to have to serve 7 days mandatory time in a pound. Mumma cat is shy and will back herself to the back of the crate when she is feeling uncertain. But she's not aggressive. She could benefit from having people interact with her and her kitten to help them to be more trusting of people. Venessa said that she keeps finding the little tuxie kitten sitting on top of the mummy cat and they are so cute together Ultimately Venessa is seeking a rescue group or independent carer to take on this mum and bub for rehoming. Whoever takes them on will need to arrange for all their vet work to be done. We can arrange for independent carers to have access to rescue rates but the carer will need to pay but will then keep the adoption fee. We are not seeking foster carers for RescueCat Project as the arrangement will be between Venessa and any individual who offers to help. However we would love photos and videos so we can continue to help find a more permanent arrangement for them. Contact Venessa on her mobile if you can assist. ~IttyBittyKitty xx
