24.01.2022 Last night we won the Gravity Challenge 2019 challenge proposed by The University of Adelaide, about manufacturing tablets in Space! Theres exciting things happening in Adelaide to do with space innovation! Stay tuned to hear about what we have planned next Thanks Deloitte, Stone and Chalk and AWS!
21.01.2022 A structural prototype of the CubeSat, which will hold our experiments. Its only 10 x 10 x 10 cm, yet will carry experiments for growth, antibiotic-resistance and biofilm/adherence assays! Space may be infinitely large, but were thinking small, to make space research viable.
16.01.2022 We aim to provide nano-satellite platforms that will allow researchers, including us, to perform microbiological experiments in space. But why exactly are we doing this? Humanity is in its infancy as a space exploring civilisation, and as we take our first steps from our small rocky planet into the great unknown of space, we face many challenges. One major challenge involves what we inevitably bring with us into space, microorganisms. Recent research has shown bacteria brough...t back from space missions mutate more rapidly, become more infectious and have increased resistance to antibiotics, possibly due to the effects of micro-gravity, and space radiation. If we are ever to become an interplanetary species that will truly explore our universe, and to also ensure the long term survival of our species, we must first be able to control infectious diseases, so we can safely travel vast distances across the solar system and beyond. The research platforms we will provide, will allow us to examine microorganisms and elucidate their behavioural changes seen in space, and ultimately allow the prevention of pathogenic outbreaks in space.
14.01.2022 Our first preliminary experiments to ascertain the optimum temperature and growth medium for future microbiological experiments to be carried out in space, have finished successfully! The experiments showed that bacterial strains, from the infectious pathogens Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus, are able to survive and grow well at -20 degrees Celsius, in the growth medium Serum Broth. We have more exciting experiments planned to be done in the near future, including ones that will simulate a rocket launch! Stay tuned to this page for updates.

13.01.2022 Prototype of a microfluidic chip that will contain the bacteria and reagents, required for performing microbiological experiments in space. Attached to these microfluidic chips will be electronic sensors, which will allow the transmission of real time data from space, down to earth. A small step towards getting our experiments into space
13.01.2022 As we get our Prototype tested for structural integrity in response to dynamic loads at the Vibrational Labs here at the University of Adelaide, work is also being done on the Design and Simulation software ANSYS for estimation of the natural frequencies of the body. This information is important to know when developing preventive measures to avoid resonance of the structure which can lead to structural failure. Here is a Preliminary Modal Analysis on the Titanium Prototype of our Payload with a list of its possible modal frequencies and shapes!
