24.01.2022 Help with our Merry Giveness Campaign! This year has been harder than most on many of the people in our community and we are starting to plan for the December holidays. Every year we provide food hampers to our community members that struggle through the Christmas period, this year we know we will see more people needing help and support. We need your help!... Every week will will be collecting a different food item to put towards making a Christmas Food Hamper for a community member. To start us off we would like donations of non perishable puddings and custards. Donated items can be dropped off at our Birds and Beans Cafe any time between 9am and 1pm Monday-Thursday.



23.01.2022 This Week is Refugee Week! Sunday June 14 to Saturday June 20. The theme for 2020 is Celebrating the Year of Welcome. In East Preston and East Reservoir, local community groups and schools have generously contributed their messages and drawings in support for refugees and asylum seekers.... The messages reflect the hope and inspirations, as well as a warm welcome from the community, and have been turned into neighbourhood footpath decals for everyone to enjoy. The contributions are from Your Community Health, East Preston Islamic College and East Reservoir Neighbours for Change. See if you can spot the decals along Strathmerton Street and Dunne Street in Reservoir Tyler Street, Greenbelt Avenue, Crevelli Street and Newton Street in Preston

22.01.2022 Neighbourhood Houses really are incredible and we are just so lucky as a community to have the Bridge Darebin down the road as one of those houses!

22.01.2022 The team at RNH is taking a break over the school holidays and will be back in the office from July 13th. Some of our classes are starting back up from Term 3. Even though we are not open to the general public for drop in, our women's meetings, food relief and community garden activities have been able to continue and support will still be available after the school holidays. As things are changing regularly due to COVID restrictions, we will keep you up to date about future courses and classes when we can.

16.01.2022 Gen U are running a free online digital literacy course starting this week. Digital Literacy Welcome to Digital Literacy (Beginners). By the end of the course you will have gained a basic computer skill set and knowledge of industry standard digital applications and how they apply to you. Digital applications include Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint along with a basic introduction to computers.... 07.01.2022 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is a time for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to celebrate the strengths and culture of our children. The Brotherhood of St Laurence NDIS team will be hosting an online event to show our support and celebrate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families. We invite our local communities to join us for some storytelling, song time and activities on Tuesday 4 ...August from 10.30am. Participate in the live event For those who can join us live, community Elder Uncle John Baxter will be sharing a reading of the children’s book Two Mates by author Melanie Prewett, which tells the story of two best mates, growing up in Broome, Western Australia. We will be using the video platform Zoom for this live event. You can download the Zoom app or view it in your Chrome browser. 02.01.2022 Reservoir COVID Community Connections Series: Rezza Readings Join us: Community Story Time for the little ones. Every Tuesday 10am we’ll post a video of our favourite children’s books. We want YOU to join in on our reading challenge.... Step 1. Video yourself reading your favourite children's picture book. You can be adventurous and dress up or not. Read with your children or for your children/grandchildren/family pet. Step 2. Send us your video using the ‘We Transfer’ app (free and can use it from your smart phone). We will share it on facebook for the little ones in our community to watch. Step 3. ‘Like’ your favourite in the series. The Story video with the most likes at the end of the series will win a prize! it might involve something special from our Birds & Beans community café! We'll post the videos every Tuesday at 10am for you to enjoy over your morning break. And just for an example, first up is our lovely boss with her daughter reading, Thelma the Unicorn.

We will prioritise folks local to us but we will do our best to help anyone that needs it!
