19.01.2022 When thinking about your posture, imagine gravity acting on your body like water in a down hill stream. Gravity likes to find its most direct line to the ground..., and water will keep flowing downward unless it is caught in pools and eddies which prevent it from flowing freely. In our own bodies, we create bends and kinks as we allow ourselves to collapse, creating our own pools and eddies for gravity’s downward force. When gravity becomes caught in one of these kinks, the forces which should be moving throughout your body become focused or caught in this one smaller area. This area is usually the one which eventually attracts your attention with aches and pains as it asks you to kindly take the pressure off it and get those forces moving again. It’s easier than you may think to address. Be the river. Allow the kinks to ease out and the folds to uncrumple by taking a moment to gently expand your body upwards and outwards. Every so often through the day, think of carrying yourself lightly and buoyantly, and feel the forces flowing freely through you without restriction.

17.01.2022 Places are filling up fast on the JEMS Movement ART Online Mentored Learning Programme, starting in two weeks. If you'd like to join us, don't delay, book you...r place now! Honouring the huge amount of learning and transformative power of the clinical JEMS Movement ART course, we have created this ten week, supported yet flexible learning experience, which balances independent learning with interactive guidance. This breakthrough enables people to learn JEMS from their own locations, and to join us from places where we weren't previously teaching live. It will replace the previous face to face format, as it is overwhelmingly a better way to assimilate the extensive JEMS foundations and integrate them successfully with greater clarity and effectiveness If you are interested in taking your practice to the next level, or you know a colleague who will embrace the holistic, inclusive yet systematic JEMS method, click here for more information: https://buytickets.at/jemsmovement/484857/r/fb

16.01.2022 The next round of renovations begin at ResilienceMT. This week the new floors go in. While on the one hand it’s great to see the last of that skanky sweat soaked carpet, on the other, there’s also a lot of fond memories of hard training sessions associated with it...

14.01.2022 Celebrating our neighbour’s at ResilienceMT, Berbeo Brothers Columbian Street Food, one year anniversary. Juan and Seb put on an absolutely incredible spread of traditional Columbian BBQ. If you’re ever in South Melbourne, I can heartily recommend their food and service. One of the highlights was Seb applying the finishing touches - marinating huge slabs of chargrilled beef and pork with beer. What a culture!!!

13.01.2022 Fitness Australia disputes claims that gyms cause outbreaks of COVID-19. Today’s comments are extremely disappointing. We are urging Professor Sutton to qualif...y his comments that gyms are a known high-risk setting and cause outbreaks. These are not based on or supported by, any data and we are calling for the Victorian Government to engage with the industry and make decisions and comments that are based on real data, not personal views, CEO Barrie Elvish said. Fitness Australia has been strongly advocating for the safe reopening of gyms in Victoria to help people maintain and manage their mental health and ensure the livelihoods of those who work in the industry to provide this vital service to the community. 13.01.2022 Today I went to see long time friend and colleague Nat Stiles for a much needed remedial massage tune up. Nat is an experienced trainer and strength coach, having only relatively recently made the transition to working as a massage therapist. I was blown away by what an incredible therapist she has become in such a short space of time. I can thoroughly recommend her service. Nat works at three locations: Richmond, Moorabbin, and Hawthorn. To book contact her on 0438 675 875.

12.01.2022 On Friday evening we had the second of Sifu Dana Wong’s Master Classes on chi sao basics. Sifu provided us all with a unique insight into Foshan lineage chi sao and dispelled many common misconceptions about the nature and purpose of training chi sao. Thanks very much to Sifu Dana for sharing his incredible knowledge and experience. We’re all eagerly looking forward to the next one!

06.01.2022 The new flooring turned out as good as I could have hoped. The boys at A Class Timbre Flooring did an absolutely superlative job!

03.01.2022 A great post by one of my colleagues at ResilienceMT Katie Masters. I have personally witnessed Katie immeasurably improve both the mental and physical health of her clients. There is no reason to consider the service that Katie provides to the community as anything other than essential. Yet gyms remain closed and probably will until the end of November, even though this decision is not supported by either the science or data, both locally or internationally. NSW has had gyms open for months with higher levels of Covid and no cases of community transmission. Gyms when opened with social distancing and covid safe business plans pose no risk despite Brett Sutton falsely describing them as ‘high risk hotspots’. The premier’s policy is a disgrace. To paraphrase his own words, ‘He’s not a leader, just a Labour politician’.

01.01.2022 The first Wing Chun Master Class, held this Friday evening at ResilienceMT, was a huge success. Sifu Dana P Wong took us all on a deep dive into chi sao concepts and fundamentals. Thanks to Sifu Dana for running such an incredible workshop and giving us all such a practical and accessible handle on some of the core chi sao concepts and principles. Everyone is eagerly looking forward to the next Master Class on Friday June 11th!

01.01.2022 There’s often an opportunity in adversity. While ResilienceMT has been closed during lockdown it’s given us a chance to rapidly move ahead with a number of renovations. The highlight for me has definitely been the mural and calligraphy created by Melbourne artist Patrick Kan. In Chinese mythology the green dragon is a herald of good luck and symbolises rejuvenation, new life, the path of learning and growth; something we could all use a bit of this year...
