25.01.2022 Concrete Porosity Test The floor covering industry utilizes substrate porosity tests. Could the resin flooring industry also benefit from these simple tests? I was reading the ASTM 3191-16 porosity test method as used and recommend for the floor covering industry. The test is simple enough and the concept of knowing that a surface is "porous" seems important, so why would the resin flooring industry not adopt the test or at least use it in conjunction with other methods for d...etermining a substrate is suitable and ready for coating. Below is a little variation of the test using three different test liquids. 15.01.2022 Electric power trowels I just saw a post that showed a battery-powered trowel in use over a resin floor and it prompted me to do a quick post as I truly feel we don't use them enough in our industry. So back in 2007, I saw my first battery-powered trowel used for resin flooring. I thought it was great especially the battery models giving the installer freedom to work without cords. They were lightweight with no petrol engines putting out fumes.... I found a couple of different models that I included in the post to spark interest and some conversation around what models people have used and the pros and cons they learned from their use. 05.01.2022 I like to help people and as a result, resin flooring business owners contact me with questions on their projects from all around the world. (It was actually the reason why I published an industrial flooring book on Amazon). I feel very lucky to get the inquiries as I like to solve problems. However, the interest is growing to the point where it is hard to service the inquires in sufficient detail so I wonder if there would be a benefit in having a more structured "project su...pport program". In simple terms, what I do is always the same. It is a systematic process to work through the project to cover the 5R's of successful resin flooring. The desired outcome is clarity, direction, and confidence to get the job done right the first time. So I am asking you for your thoughts. Would you benefit from such a program?
