19.01.2022 With the job market significantly affected by the global pandemic, it has forced so many people to now be on the hunt for work. Whether you have lost your job due to COVID or have been looking for work for what feels like a lifetime, you're maybe wondering how you go about standing out in a large crowd of so many going for the same vacancy. Here are three tips to avoid if you want to increase the likelihood of standing out to recruiters and hiring managers. 1). When putting t...ogether your resume, make sure that you don't overfill it with unnecessary information. You don't want to have your resume turn into a novel that a hiring manager just won't want to take the time to sit and read. Make sure your resume is clean, concise and simple to read, highlighting all your relevant skills and experience. Remember those hiring spend 7-10 seconds reading a resume - don't allow your one to be cast aside due to it looking overwhelming. 2). It's a simple thing but makes sure your email address looks professional (even though its a personal email). No swearing or inappropriate names should be listed as your contact email. 3). Jargon - make sure that you don't use jargon in your resume, especially if you're looking for a career in a new industry. You need to explain your experience for your new role the way that the company you're applying for talks about them.
