25.01.2022 Its always nice to get an email from a client like this one (a Community Governance School review and advice on Principal recruitment we did last year)... "I am excited to tell you that after an exhaustive search and lots of well qualified applicants, we ended up finding a head of school that we are truly excited about. He started as our HOS on June 1, and has been off to a running start! In part because of some of the changes you helped us make, our School is set up in a way culturally, financially, and foundationally to make huge strides over the next several years."

22.01.2022 As a provider of non-essential services we are letting you know that we can continue to provide services to our clients professionally and effectively. As your business models change, let us know if you would like some assistance. Examples of areas we can see coming will be a need to model budgeting scenarios, manage business transitions, negotiating with lenders and helping facilitate board discussions around major decisions etc. Operational changes at Resolve include where...ver possible delivering our consulting and training services via Zoom meeting rooms and other electronic means to limit travelling. These tools have already been used to great effect by our international and interstate clients for many years so we know they work well and are confident that the value of our services will not be compromised. Also, all Resolve staff are working independently from 24 March and away from the office. The best way to contact our staff will be first by email and then by mobile phone. For many years now Resolve has been working "in the cloud" - our client files are on a cloud server as our all our work programs, and we extensively use Xero, Zoom and Trello as planning and meeting tools. We look forward to continuing to help you Prepare for Tomorrow.

22.01.2022 Good morning - each day we connect at 8am to check in a share a short devotion/ bible verse - makes it easy to come to work !

22.01.2022 For NSW Schools - NESA has announced they will do 26 random school inspections in 2020 with a minimum of 4 days notice - 13 schools looking at the NESA Annual Priorities (Safe and Supportive Environment, Child Protection and Curriculum) and 13 schools they will be looking at Quality of Student Learning.

22.01.2022 Start changing your thinking now...

21.01.2022 A significant number of School Principals never receive an appraisal or it is done very irregularly or there is no consistent process. Now is a good time to think about doing this better! We have found that quite a number of schools like to alternately do formal and informal annual appraisals - a good cost effective system to use. If you would like to discuss how you could bring about change in this area please do not hesitate to contact Resolve to discuss your needs further. We already have a number of Principal Appraisal bookings for 2020!

21.01.2022 It has been announced that changes will be introduced from 1 July 2022 small charities registered with the Australian Charities and Notforprofits Commission (ACNC) will see their financial reporting annual revenue threshold increased from $250,000 to $500,000. The financial reporting threshold for medium-sized charities will also be lifted to under $3 million, up from the previous threshold of less than $1 million. The means that not for profits with a revenue of up to $3m ...can now have their financial statements reviewed instead of going through a full statutory audit. If you would like to find out more about having your charity's accounts reviewed please contact Resolve.

20.01.2022 See below timeline - Jobkeeper update from the ATO and Treasury to software developers: Its expected that the ATO and Treasury websites will be updated over the Easter break to be able to register for Jobkeeper on the ATO portals and the timeline for payments. The big takeaway is that all JobKeeper recipients will need to login to one of the portals once a month and confirm their eligibility. This will apply to employing businesses (including those on STP) and non-employers. Agents will be able to do this on behalf of clients but I do not believe it will be possible to do this in bulk each month for all clients.

20.01.2022 Don't forget these changes to Super from 1 July this year.

19.01.2022 Xero - Ahead of the game again. If your Not for Profit isnt with Xero you are missing out - contact us for more information...

19.01.2022 News from the ATO - 2019-20 Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) annual returns have had their due date deferred to 25 June 2020

14.01.2022 A great article talking about a new school Resolve is pleased to support getting established.

14.01.2022 Over a career of almost 30 years in the Not for Profit (NFP) sector working with Schools, Churches and charities of all shapes and sizes, there have been dozens of cases where we have seen organisations crash and burn in their governance. In this article, David Bartlett discusses the important role of moral owners in a NFP....

13.01.2022 Resolve have been operating in the cloud for years and can seamlessly move our operations to our homes and are in fact starting this for some staff next week. We can effectively support our clients from anywhere in the world through the use of use of tools such as our Egnyte cloud server, Zoom for videoconferencing, Trello for collaborating, Google suite of products and Xero Practice Manager. Our staff are connected wherever we are which puts us in an excellent position to be able to provide ongoing support to serve our clients.

10.01.2022 Jobkeeper summary that passed into law last night: Under the scheme, workers who have their hours cut will be able to request time to work a second job. Companies will be able to cut employees hours so their income matches the $1500 per fortnight JobKeeper payment, as long as there is not enough work available for them in their normal role.... Businesses will also be allowed to move workers into different roles or physical locations to keep them in work within reason such as requesting sales staff swap to deliveries. Workers can agree to change their days, while bosses could also ask staff to take annual leave, provided employees have two weeks left over. Reasonable requests to take annual leave will not be able to be refused. Eligibility remains a loss of income/turnover of more than 30% for businesses and sole traders, and 15% for charities. Schools are not included in the charities definition.

10.01.2022 Excited to see the Spanish translation of Community Governance coming together - that makes Mandarin/Chinese, Spanish, German and English versions out there across the world !

10.01.2022 Often people ask us what we do at Resolve....well it varies! Here is a snapshot of what the Resolve Team is doing this week - Undertaking a Review of a large school in Melbourne, Providing Training for Bank Managers at one of Australias largest banks, doing the Recruitment for a CFO role in a large school in Queensland, providing Business Continuity Services for a large school in Sydney, running a large Payroll in Sydney on an interim basis, finalising a large School Sentiment Survey report in NSW, Providing Accounting/BAS support to a wide variety of NFP and Church clients, assisting a large Camping/Conference organisation with their Strategic Direction, working with probably the worlds largest Christian University in the development of a new service area.....and that is just one week :-)

09.01.2022 A new school we have been working with - quite a unique public / private project

09.01.2022 ACNC new standards now apply for NFPs with overseas activities

08.01.2022 Many of our clients are Christian ministry based and we have the privilege of working with many of their Boards. So the question for the day is - what makes a Christian Ministry Board, Christian? Is there something different about them and what they do compared to other boards? Interested to hear your views!

08.01.2022 A great opportunity for Resolve is to be involved in supporting ACSI globally. This week Craig Harvey has been teaching governance in the Philippines.

08.01.2022 They put us near the food !! Come say hi to the team at Resolve if you are at the National Policy Forum in Canberra this week.

08.01.2022 Our team hopes your team are managing to work effectively remotely if you can do this in your job.

06.01.2022 Want to move beyond Carver.... call Resolve

04.01.2022 Seems like the hybrid mode is here to stay - Zoom surveyed almost 8,000 people across 10 countries. Everyone agrees only virtual will be unwound - this graph is interesting in terms of the varying percentages around only in person but makes sense to me - thoughts ?

04.01.2022 Awesome when something like this is shared as part of our staff devotional time

04.01.2022 Paul Campey serves on the Global Council of ACSI which is a tremendous privilege. Both David and Paul have honorary Director positions at ACSI Global serving the global Christian schools movement in Governance and financial management.

04.01.2022 Could this be the answer to help reduce the excessive number of emails broadcast to all staff in large Schools and Not for Profits?

04.01.2022 Compulsory Whistleblower Policy Under section 1317AI of the Corporations Act, 2001 from 1 January 2020 all public companies, large proprietary companies and proprietary companies that are trustees of registrable superannuation entities (self-managed superannuation funds are not caught) will be required to have a whistleblower policy. Importantly, this requirement for a designated whistleblower policy captures all charities and Not-for-profits which are structured as public companies limited by guarantee.

03.01.2022 Recent article on Community Governance in the journal for all ACSI schools in Latin America

01.01.2022 News from ACNC Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis that is affecting charities, the ACNC Commissioner has granted an extension to the due date of the 2019 AIS. If your 2019 AIS is due between 12 March and 30 August 2020, you now have an extension until: 31 August 2020 Your charitys 2019 AIS due date as listed on the ACNC Charity Register may not have been updated to reflect the extension yet. This will occur in the coming days.
