23.01.2022 Anyone else hiding chocolate from your kids (or step child in my case) and then eating it on the sly any chance you get?? Or is it just me? Lockdown 2.0 realities. Ok, your turn. What are you hoarding? What behaviour are you doing that you wouldnt normally do? Use words or emojis in the comments.... But, lets be honest. Im not good at sharing chocolate at the best of times

21.01.2022 Anyone else read @brenebrowns book Dare to Lead? Ive almost finished it and have gotten so many gems from it. Even if you dont have employees (), we still lead projects, contractors and all the inspiration and outs of running a small businesses, and that in itself is huge. There are so many tough conversations to be had... Do you lean in or run away? This book is helping me improve how I communicate with clients but also in day to day life too. Even if youve watched Brenes Netflix talk, theres more gold to be explored in the book. Highly recommended. @sisterscoutstudio and shout out to Sophie and her workshop last year where @ofkin presented some of the ideas around vulnerability.

20.01.2022 Google Reviews // Ive made an effort this year to ask clients to review working with me once weve launched their website. I give them tips on what to write about and give them a direct link to Google Review for my business to make it super easy for them. Some clients like to leave a review on my Facebook page and thats great too. Reviews are gold. Theyre the social proof that further legitimises your services; that you actually do what you say you will. And that you do it... well. Google takes notice too and reviews can help your website rank higher. Win win. There shouldnt be anything icky about asking for a review. If your client is over the moon happy with your service, its a no brainer for them. And make sure you reply to reviews that are posted as its an easy way to demonstrate your responsiveness and that you have positive relationships with your clients. Do you ask for a review after finishing a project? All it takes is a clear and simple email. Shout out to Duncan of Deeper Richer, an interactive learning experience and design company in Melbourne, who wrote this review yesterday without even being asked

20.01.2022 One of my fave website areas? Its right down the bottom... The website footer. Its a constant feature of your website and its always visible, on every single page. Because its always there, I love spending quality time really planning it out. I think about: What the website audience (your target market) wants constant access to. eg. Contact details, book now link, shipping info, sizing link, returns policy.... The big picture Call to Actions of the website. Eg. Newsletter signup form, book a free call link, social media icon links. Things thatll demonstrate my clients expertise and knowledge. Eg. their mission statement, recent blog post links. The options for your website footer are endless and it all depends on your unique business and audience as to what you place there. Any questions? Ask away! [ The footer wireframe image is included in the Website Workbook, where we dive deep into website anatomy - check it out here https://resonantimagery.com.au/website-workbook/. The next 3 images show footers in action that Ive designed for some fave clients. ]

20.01.2022 Want to know one of the many positive responses Ive received about The Website Workbook? "Its so cheap!" And to be honest, I couldve priced the workbook higher - its over 60 pages of value-packed info, tips, step by step processes and worksheets. It covers a lot.... Rather than go with a higher price though, I decided to make the workbook truly accessible, that it would be a no-brainer for anyone who is DIYing their website. Especially during 2020 when you might be pivoting, out of work or needing extra income, a website thats done well is really going to help. You may not have thousands to invest in your website right now, but you can still have my planning tools and checklists. The Website Workbook will normally be A$49 but grab it now for A$39 until the end of the month (link in bio). An affordable resource thatll do wonders for your business or freelancing gig.

20.01.2022 Do you work on your business during the holiday break? Sounds crazy, right? But everyone else (meaning your clients) is super quiet during this time, which means not many emails to attend to, youve got your email auto-reply telling people youre not back until 6th January and most of all, everyone is expecting you to be on holidays. Ive used this time in the past to redesign my website. Ive also mapped out what I want to be achieving in the first quarter of the new year. A...nd if it goes to plan, Ill work on a new workbook during the upcoming holidays. Its not always possible to find the time with family commitments or maybe you just want to completely switch off (totally get it). For me though, its a rare time of year where I can use the spaciousness to look at the bigger picture, in between enjoying the downtime, of course. Crazy? Or do you do this too? . . @sisterscoutstudio

19.01.2022 Trying things for the first time can be huge. It is for me anyway. And I remember always being like this. I feel a huge amount of discomfort going somewhere for the first time. And don’t get me started on walking into a networking event. #awkwardaf It’s taken me all of Stage 4 lockdown to click and collect. Part of me has been patiently waiting for retail to open back up or I’d just pay extra for shipping. Part of it was also being freaked about the whole click and collect pr...ocess. How would it work? Will it be clearly signposted as to where I should go? Will I do the wrong thing and get called out? Would I be waiting for my order for ages? Today I achieved the unthinkable and picked up an order from Bunnings. And I’ve got to say, the experience was nothing like how I had dramatised it in my head. Signs were everywhere. Staff were helpful. It took all of 5 minutes. And bonus... I didn't look like a foul for potentially doing something wrong. This all relates to customer experience. The more we prepare our customers and clients for what to expect and then communicate with them along the way, the more the experience is a positive one. And what better place to really get all of this info out there? Your website. Specifically, an FAQ section, or a My Process section, or a What Happens Next section. Or all of the above. Take the guesswork out of working with you. Your clients will love you for it.

18.01.2022 To blog or not to blog? It’s a question I get asked by pretty much every new client of mine. And the answer isn’t a straightforward yes or no. In an ideal world? Yes. In reality? Maybe.... Personally I’m a fan of blog posts. They provide an opportunity to explore topics about websites in more detail. They show my people the depth of knowledge and insights I have about websites. And they provide me with new content to share on socials and my newsletter. Oh and Google can take notice of them too. So why shouldn’t everyone be blogging? The thing is, having a blog is kind of a commitment. It works best if you’re publishing posts regularly. Sure you could go all in and post weekly. For me, once a month or every two months is okay. Whatever timeframe you decide on, try to be consistent with it. So if finding the time once a month to write new content feels like a mammoth effort (and I get it), maybe a blog isn’t for you. But maybe you don’t need to be the one to write them... You know copywriters? They often write blog posts for businesses. And they love writing them. If you know the value of blogging but don’t want the pressure of writing one each month, they’re your go-to people. Ultimately though, your heart needs to be in it. Otherwise, maybe it’s a no? Would love to hear your thoughts [ Image description: Ange is holding two badges, one in each hand. One badge has the text Yeh on it and the other badge says Nah Nope. Photo by @sisterscout_. ]

18.01.2022 I almost thought The Website Workbook wasnt going to happen and it wasnt a result of pivoting due to Covid. At the end of 2019, as I was working on my vision board for the year ahead, I knew what the next step would be for my business. And then in February this year, I really explored the ideas during an invaluable session with Dusk of @thelisteningsquad. And with that, I was ready. Well we all know what happened next. Social distancing and the start of lockdown meant that ...my focus on the bigger picture was shot. I was consumed with helping my clients move their services online and so glad that could be there for support. But it also meant that I couldnt even see a way to work on some new resources. That was until I signed up for virtual coworking sessions with @coolwowcollective. With two sessions a week I made a commitment: Those sessions would ONLY be for working on the Workbook, nothing else. And bit by bit, I was actually doing it. (I highly recommend Virtual coworking... @coolwowcollective has opened the group up to a few new members. Check it out!) And best of all, Im so proud of The Website Workbook. Its such a value packed resource that contains so much advice, tips and worksheets to help you DIY your website. $10 off until the end of the month. Go grab it!

18.01.2022 CODING // Some days this is my language. In order to get a website just right, a whole bunch of custom CSS (styling) needs to happen. And I really enjoy it. Its so logical but also creative. It still amazes me that code translates into beautiful website designs on the front end, so fluid and colourful.

18.01.2022 This is often what planning looks like for me. On the floor. Post-it notes. Brown craft paper. Pens. And open space. My business planning looks like this but also website planning. A lot of planning and brainstorming goes into a client website even before touching my computer. All too often we can jump from I need a website straight into your Squarespace account without much thought. Get your website strategy clear BEFORE mindlessly dragging and dropping website elements ar...ound on a blank website page. If youre embarking on a new website or revamping your existing one this year, spend some quality time planning it first. Youll save so much time and money (because time = money, right?). Want a neat little workbook to get you started? Sign up to my newsletter here: https://resonantimagery.com.au/big-picture-plan/ and its yours, free. BYO butchers paper, Post-its and textas. 17.01.2022 Lets chat about how your website should perform on mobile. Sure, your website is responsive (content stacks neatly on smaller screens) but is it actually user friendly? Do text links have enough space from other links so that they are easy to touch(click)? You need to account for larger fingers too. Have you linked phone numbers so that your audience can click the link and the phone starts calling.... If you have a large menu, look at simplifying it with a mobile version. Make things easy to find for your audience. You know who else likes a mobile friendly website? Google. Those smart little Google bots are checking out your websites mobile experience just as much (if not more) than your desktop version. So heres the question: When did you last check out your website on your mobile? Even if you havent, your audience has. Save this post and add this task to your to-do list.

16.01.2022 Not only did @topfivemovement launch their new website this year, their founder and CEO, Clare has also just launched a podcast. The Leading Generous Teams podcast is hosted by Clare and presented together with Pro Bono Australia. It delivers insights and tips for improving the mindset and resilience of people working in the social sector. But really, we can all benefit from these insights, no matter the size of our team. And let's face it, even as a sole trader you're still part of a team, whether it be with your clients to work together, or contractors who help along the way. Looking forward to diving into this one! And so pleased that I could team up with @topfivemovement to put together the podcast section on their website. Further proof that a website should always evolve as your business does

15.01.2022 Thank goodness for the little things! As life in lockdown continues, for me its the little things that are providing energy and joy. Some of these moments include: The smell of another banana bread baking in the oven... Being awake to witness the sunrise rays streaming through the window Taking the time to really see the details on flowers in our garden Appreciating the beauty of a single puzzle piece and its own unique design and shape The not so quiet snores of our dog that can be heard any time of day Your turn. What are some little moments that enable you to stop, breathe and take it all in? Id love to know.

14.01.2022 The big exhale. A business bestie and I were recently chatting about just how powerful a big, long exhale can be. It has the power to release feelings and emotions and can make us feel grounded like nothing else. So, what with everything thats been going on, lets take a moment to exhale. Even let out a sigh while you do it. Know who does the big exhale so well? My dog. On a daily basis hes getting comfy on his bed, finding just the right position to relax and then... A big... audible sigh and that exhale means that everythings just right, or at least, itll be alright. Whether it be lockdown realities, home schooling, a difficult client, an endless to-do list, launching a workbook (!!) or just needing some space... take a moment. Breathe in. And then exhale for as long as you can. We got this. What will you be exhaling out today?

13.01.2022 Such a pleasure to recreate Zig Zags website. Such a big project and such an amazing result. Check it out here: https://zigzag.org.au

13.01.2022 Hello Monday. Im ready for you! Feeling refreshed after a long weekend and about to get stuck into some website projects. On track to launch 3 websites super soon. Where are you at today? Raring to go or easing into it with a slower pace? Either of these states can create magic! Ok better get to it. ... @sisterscoutstudio

13.01.2022 Lets talk apps that have transformed your business. Ive tried and tested quite a few over the years but none have stood out like Trello. Planning website designs from start to finish is now logical and visual. And I love that clients are able to see where were at in their website project. And life planning, Trello has that covered too. How about you? Whats your most beloved business app that you now cant live without?

12.01.2022 BETTER TOGETHER // The truth is... A website design isn’t finished until I get my client’s feedback. I need their input, their little tweaks and their suggestions. Maybe it’s swapping out a photo. Or that a section on the homepage doesn’t feel quite right. ... Once I get that feedback and make those tweaks though? That’s when the design really takes off. It feels so much more powerful and aligned. And the best thing? My client feels these things too. They feel more connected with their website. So much so, that when we launch their website, they are SO proud of it. They can’t wait to share it, to celebrate it, to OWN it. It just feels so right for them, for me and for their audience. Win, win, win. Wanna feel that kind of connection to your website? I’ve got space for one more website project before the end of the financial year. Find out about my process here: https://resonantimagery.com.au/website-design-melbourne/ [ Image description: A closeup of two women holding some toy building blocks and together they are stacking them on a wooden desk. ]

11.01.2022 There are so many elements at play when piecing together your website. And all of them are essential to ensure your website resonates with your target market. As a web designer, I can expertly weave these elements together to achieve a website thatll do wonders for your business.

10.01.2022 WEBSITE LAUNCH // Working with Lueurs existing logo, Ive created a new online home for Susan Slys technology consultancy business. Her resolve, knowledge and experience is strong - as she says, My feedback is frank and fearless. Love this! Check out the full website at https://lueur.com.au

10.01.2022 Mostly Ive relaxed over the holidays. Ive read books, jumped in the spa and completed multiple puzzles. In amongst the downtime, Ive put the finishing touches on two websites, one of which was for @the.brokegeneration . Super impressed by Emma - shes grown a huge Instagram following, helping millennials improve their money mindset. Towards the end of 2019 we migrated her Squarespace blog over to WordPress in order to grow her website traffic even more. And Emma launched h...er new eBook (designed by @leahisabella24) - Be Better With Money - on New Years Eve . I know 2020 holds big things for Emma and shes definitely inspired me to dream bigger things for Resonant Imagery. If you need a bit more money confidence in this new decade, be sure to follow @the.brokegeneration

09.01.2022 If youre planning a new website this year, have you thought about the essentials? Forget the website platform, your content, photos and page layouts for a moment. Lets take a step back and start at the beginning. My free eBook will take you through the Must Have Essentials for Your New Website. This workbook is a comprehensive way to get your head into the big picture stuff; the stuff that can really make a difference when it comes time to design and build your website. Use the link below to get your hands (and your website vision) on it. Nows the time to spend some time looking at the Must have essentials for your new website

09.01.2022 BROKEN LINKS // Theres nothing worse than clicking on a find out more button or get in touch link, only to arrive at Page Not Found. So frustrating. Often though as website owners, we arent even aware of these broken links that could potentially have your ideal client looking elsewhere for help. Such an innocent mistake but it could be costly. Rather than clicking all the links on your website to make sure they work, there are some handy ways to find out all of your broken links quickly. Then all you have to do is fix them. My latest blog shows you how. Lets make your website flow! https://resonantimagery.com.au/fix-broken-links/

08.01.2022 Social distancing gets real. I know your business is affected but what about your clients and customers? Use your website as a communication tool - thats exactly why its there. Add a message to your homepage that explains the changes that are taking place for your business. Have you moved to an online format?... Tell people on your website. Has your shopfront, gym or yoga studio had to close its doors but youre still selling online or offering online classes? Place that info on your website. Nows the time to get your new message out there and your community wants to know how they can still work with you. Youre using Instagram, Facebook and your newsletter to communicate it all, just dont forget about your website. Thats where a lot of people still look for important info.

08.01.2022 Thank goodness for the little things! As life in lockdown continues, for me it’s the little things that are providing energy and joy. I'd love to know.

07.01.2022 Words like these make my heart sing! And one word in particular really gets to the core of it: Collaborative. A job done well is when a client feels part of the process Check out Emma's new website and copywriting services here: https://emmamcmillancopy.com/

05.01.2022 Im sitting here this morning, taking a moment to appreciate just how amazing and genuine my clients are. Each and every one inspires me by their passion to positively influence the world and their industry. I met with Cathy and Tanya of @fairfieldpaediatrics yesterday for their website tutorial. Love the space that Cathy has created to make families feel comfortable and welcomed. And it was so good to see @pass.the.salt_studio branding in real life. Moments like these make it all the more worth while @albertcomper

05.01.2022 WEBSITE LAUNCH // So excited to push live on this powerhouse of a website. Kate, founder of Picture My Picture, creates and sells flashcard sets - the ultimate language learning tool. From Verbs to Emotions, there’s many options to help improve word skills. What makes this website such a great resource? There’s so much education on it about how to use the flashcards and it explains the importance of each topic of flashcards.... Some of the uses? The flashcards are perfect for teaching students with autism, speech therapy, stroke rehab and English as a Second Language. This ecommerce website has been built on WordPress, so it incorporates an online shop, international pricing and payment through PayPal or Stripe. This project was an incredible team effort. The main stars of the show: @byjenamarie created the bright branding and logo designs. @fetecreative jazzed up Kate’s website content. Nell also delivered the expert SEO keyword strategy. Kate (picturemypicture.com) provided so much info about the functionality she was wanting in such a timely manner. And me, putting it all together in a stunning and user friendly way. Interested in seeing the end result? Head to picturemypicture.com

04.01.2022 INSIDE PAGES // Im a big believer that the inside pages of your website should be just as engaging as your homepage. This means that these pages are well laid out and have clear call to actions, and should never resemble a Word doc full of paragraph text. Because your whole website needs to rise above the noise, not just the first page. Excited that Cathy and her team at Fairfield Paediatrics will be opening their doors next week. Loved creating this informative and easy to navigate website.

03.01.2022 I've got my processes. I've got my experience. And I've got the skills. But the one thing that needs to be added to every single website I design and build? Client collaboration. A website can look good and do all the things but when a client gets buy in and is actually invited to give feedback? That takes an online home to the next level and beyond. With each and every website I work on, I'm reminded of this. And I truly love it. Because when we nail a design together, I kn...ow the website is going to make an impact. When a client is involved, they are more likely to be over-the-moon happy with the website we launch. They have so much confidence to share their website with the world. And their prospective clients really resonate with the website and with that confidence. The sky's the limit from there

03.01.2022 AUTUMN AND YOUR WEBSITE // This season is a prime time to let go of things that are no longer serving you. Trees drop their leaves. We have less energy for all the things we did in summer. Your website is no different. When you look at it and read your content, what is no longer serving you? Is there ono font too many? Can the design be simplified so that your core message can be easily found? Little tweaks here and there can bring about a fresh change in the air. A new perspective. And that could make all the difference to your next potential client

02.01.2022 WEBSITE LAUNCH // It took a bit longer to design and develop this website because of Covid but we got there. Sefton Davis previously had a one page website that needed some love - we expanded on their employment law services, incorporated beautiful images by Breeana Dunbar Photography and optimised the website for Google with the skilled help of Fete Creative. Sefton Davis now has a website that looks professional, feels modern and also demonstrates their high level of knowledge and expertise. www.seftondavis.com

01.01.2022 WHERE TO GO FROM HERE // Lets talk all things Call to Action (CTA). Any and all forms of marketing need one. This includes your website, and yep, on every page. If not, how will people know what you want them to do next? Read important CTA tips in my latest blog. Do it so that your website can be as effective as possible. https://resonantimagery.com.au/website-call-to-action/

01.01.2022 In my Instagram stories last week I shared that Ive started a new habit. And so far so good. Im using my best morning energy to work on my business. Something just clicked and I realised that for too long I wasnt prioritising this kind of work. Client work would mostly come first and then if I had the time and energy I would then do the thing that could help my business grow. I use this quality time each morning to add new web design projects to my website, draft a new ema...il newsletter to my subscribers, plan some bigger projects that Im ready to dive into. I am also getting clearer on what tasks I can outsource. Because lets face it, we cant spend all our time on our business. So far its been a game changer. I feel more in control of where my business is heading. I feel energised by putting new content out there. It feels so good! And you know what? Because of how all of that feels, I have more inspiration and energy to then focus on client work. So, win win. Where are you at with this? Prioritising working on your business much lately?
