25.01.2022 At Resonate Massage & Wellbeing we love supporting community and great causes. In conjunction with our local shopping centre which is acting as a collection point, we are happy to receive some much needed items as listed below, for two wonderful organisations - The Queensland Koala Society and Aussie2Aussie. The Queensland Koala Society are calling for items that they can distribute to All Wildlife Carers who support injured animals, particularly those that are currently impa...cted by drought and fire. Items to donate are as follows: ~ Towels ~ Fabric ~ Bathmats ~ Fuel Cards ~ Bedsheets ~ Wool ~ Pillowcases ~ Bug Spray ~ Boxes of Tissues ~ Medical Supplies It would also be appreciated if people could donate their time to knit, sew or help transport animals to wildlife hospitals. Aussie2Aussie are helping to support Farmers by calling on other Aussie families to show they care, by means of Christmas Cards, or helping the children of disadvantaged families with Back to School Supplies. You can donate blank Xmas cards or packs of cards for the farmers to use, or you can write a special message of support on a card, to be given to our rural neighbours impacted by drought. Back to school items such as those listed below are also welcome: ~ Rulers ~ Lunch Boxes ~ Pencil Cases ~ Drink Bottles ~ School Bags ~ Coloured Pencils Next time you visit Resonate Massage & Wellbeing for a Massage, why not bring along something to help those in need.

25.01.2022 After a temporary closure due to COVID-19 restrictions Resonate Massage & Wellbeing would like to announce the clinic will be open again from Monday 25th May, with some temporary changes to clinic hours of operation. The Qld Department of Health have recently permitted massage therapy for the management or prevention of a disease, injury or condition, provided by a qualified massage therapist, with social distancing observed to the extent where possible. (i.e. Remedial mass...age ONLY). The health and well-being of every client is important to me, and cleanliness and hygiene have always been a top priority. Additional measures will be implemented to ensure we all stay healthy and well. Some of these are: ~ Disposible covers will be used over fresh linen (which is always changed between each client). ~ Extended buffer time between each client to assist with social distancing and to allow for thorough cleaning of the clinic. ~ All surfaces, especially touch points will be disinfected after every appointment. Regular hand washing with soap and water is one of the most effective ways to help reduce the spread of infections, particularly after coughing or sneezing. Where possible please wash your hands prior to attending your massage appointment. It would be appreciated if you would clean your hands with the sanitizer which will be placed at the entrance to the clinic prior to entering. If you are unwell or experiencing any cold or flu like symptoms please stay home! If you are unsure whether to attend please contact me before your appointment. RMWB will do its best to support these measures by keeping up to date with official recommendations on containing the virus. Your help in supporting the above measures, and considering other clients during this time is greatly appreciated. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Stay Well!

23.01.2022 If you think you have to stop exercising because you are developing, or have osteoarthritis - think again. Whilst it is well known that exercise is good for our cardiovascular health, psychological health and weight control, studies are now helping scientists understand the process whereby exercise helps prevent cartilage degradation caused by osteoarthritis. https://m.medicalxpress.com//2019-03-cartilage-arthritis.h

21.01.2022 Christmas Vibes!

19.01.2022 I love what I do, but there is something extra special about massaging during a storm. Outside nature is doing it's thing, thunder, heavy rain on the tin roof, cold, overcast and wintry, rain washing over the window, the tree branches and leaves dancing in the wind, yet inside it is warm and calm, comfortable and safe. The client is focusing on the pressure of the massage and getting lost in the tranquility of the music, almost oblivious to what's going on outside.

18.01.2022 According to a journal of biological chemistry, approximately 50/60% of the human adult body is water, and the brain is composed of approx. 73% water. One university study found that a mere 5% drop in water levels in the body can cause a 25-30% loss in energy. Even a 3% drop can cause brain fog and a slower metabolism. Another study conducted by the University of Connecticuts Human Performance Laboratory found that as little as a 1.5% water loss led to reduced cognitive function.

17.01.2022 Hope you all have a beautiful day!

15.01.2022 The clinic was closed the week before last for a short getaway. If you were looking, this is where you'd find me

15.01.2022 From time to time I get asked What do you think about Physiotherapists? or How do you feel about Chiropractors, are they any good?. These are actually tricky questions to answer. Although I do have opinions, those opinions are based on my own experiences, and not necessarily right to impart onto others. What I try to say is this:~ Every body is different, and will respond to different treatments in different ways. Some may find a form of therapy very effective, while o...thers may say it is rubbish. Also, Every Therapist has a different set of knowledge. We all have to undergo continued professional education, so although Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors etc etc, will have all studied a base set of information to attain the qualification in their relevant field, what they know can vary dependant upon where they studied, their lecturers, their experiences, mentors and ongoing study. So while one Chiro may not be able to help, another Chiro may know something different that does help. Or Chiropractics may not help at all, you may find Physiotherapy more effective. I have clients who have visited Chiros and Physios with no results, yet have walked away from me in just one or two treatments pain free. In no way whatsoever am I implying I am better, it simply comes down to, what I know and what I did is what their body responded to. In essence, it is very subjective. The best opinion I can offer is if you are seeing someone and not getting results, see someone else and explore your options. This extends across the board to GPs, Specialists and any profession, not just in health and medical.

14.01.2022 I really appreciate getting feedback on my massages, especially when Ive made a difference. Relieving your discomfort is my ultimate goal. Always feel free to text and let me know how youre going afterwards.

14.01.2022 Hope you all get to enjoy wasting some time over the Christmas break.

13.01.2022 - We received a massive response to our call out for donations to help the non-profit volunteer organisation Qld Koala Society - so much so that in just a few short weeks we reached maximum capacity. It has been wonderful, and the volunteers have been working very hard to sort through everything and re-distribute it all to their network of Wildlife Carers. Thank You Everyone, your generosity has been incredible.

12.01.2022 Setting goals gives you focus. Focus and determination lead to achievement. Achievement results in feelings of happiness and reward.

11.01.2022 As a remedial therapist I am always looking for ways to improve my knowledge and skills, to enhance my abilities in achieving more positive outcomes for those seeking my assistance with musculoskeletal issues. This past weekend I attended a course in Neurological Assessment and Mobilisation, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Now I just need to revise and absorb all that I learned so that I can bring it into the clinic and put it into practice! Below are a couple of tools that I purchased to assist with the assessments.

11.01.2022 It is so rewarding to know that I can make a difference!

11.01.2022 Slow down, take a moment to be still, focus on the breath. Slowly in, slowly out, and repeat. Allow it to calm your nervous system.

11.01.2022 Massage can be a wonderful gift to give someone for Christmas. Vouchers are available at Resonate!

10.01.2022 Endorphins are known as the body's natural 'feel good' hormones. They stimulate feelings of happiness, well-being and pain relief. Research shows there can be as much as a 16% increase in release of endorphins as a result of massage.

07.01.2022 How Does Massage Help With Bursitis? Bursa are the synovial fluid filled sacs which act as shock absorbers to cushion an area of the body where muscles and tendons slide across bone to allow smooth movement of a joint. When the bursa become inflamed (bursitis) tenderness and pain around the affected joint is experienced. There are a number of causes, but repetitive movement creating friction is a common one. The main areas affected by bursitis are the shoulders, hips, elbows ...and knees. Rest and avoiding repetitive motion are two of the best ways to assist with relieving bursitis, however it is not always easy to rest your joints, as even general day-to-day activities require joint movement, but it is particularly difficult if your job is one which requires repetitive motion. This is where massage steps in- massage can assist by releasing tension in the muscles and fascia surrounding the area, which in turn alleviates pressure and friction on the affected bursa in the joint, assisting in the reduction of inflammation. Strengthening exercises can then help rehabilitate the joint once it is pain free, and regular gentle stretching and massage will assist with prevention of further inflammatory occurrences.

07.01.2022 This day, exactly 1 year ago, the dream all started to come together.

06.01.2022 Hands up who else thinks its wonderful to be getting some much needed rain today!

05.01.2022 Do You Drink Enough Water? You have probably heard that our bodies are around 60% water, and that it is absolutely essential to our survival. Having enough water in our body increases energy production and helps maximise physical performance. It’s essential for our kidneys and other bodily functions.... Drinking plenty of water also helps prevent and relieve headaches. So many headaches are caused by simple muscle dehydration. Dehydrated muscles can ache! I often remind my clients to make sure they're drinking plenty of water. Science has proven that water helps our mental state as well. A fluid loss of even just 1% or 2% can reduce motivation, increase fatigue, and impair mood, memory and concentration. So if you want to feel brighter and more focussed, water may help with that. If you still need more reasons, research shows that a higher water intake may help prevent hangovers, boost the immune system, improve skin complexion and aid weight loss. So basically, it helps you stay healthy and it makes you better looking! A common question is, does coffee count? Or beer? After all, these are both made by using water. But unfortunately caffeine and alcohol are both diuretics, meaning they make you lose more water than they put in and may actually make dehydration worse. So make water your drink of choice, and you will look and feel even better.

04.01.2022 An estimated 3.7million Australians suffer from back pain to some degree, and there are many forms such as Lower Back Pain, Sciatic Pain, Thoracic Pain And Cervical Pain. Much of this pain is due to muscle tension & strain and fascial restriction. There can be many causes, some of which are over use, under use, poor posture, lack of good hydration/nutrition etc. Fortunately, a growing number of scientific studies suggest that Massage Therapy can help significantly reduce inflammation and provide substantial and much needed relief from chronic and acute back pain.

03.01.2022 A little bit of massage humour

03.01.2022 Self Care is sooo important, not just for your own wellbeing but for others also. Taking time out to care for yourself on a regular basis will make you better equipped to help care for those around you.

03.01.2022 One of my lovely clients was moving home and not able to take her chickens with her. She noticed that our chook pen was empty and asked if we would take them, so we did. Its been about 8 weeks now, theyve settled in nicely and have even started producing eggs. Keep a lookout for the girls as you make your way to the clinic entrance, you just might see them happily scratching around.

02.01.2022 It is important to STOP every now and then, to take time out for your own well-being.
