As restrictions ease its time to support Australian Tourism by Booking Direct. Seek out local Accommodation, Tours, Experiences & Products - cut out the middle man (booking . com, Expedia etc) - pick up the phone let them hear their phones ring again email them with words of encouragement pre- purchase gift vouchers / tickets Book directl...y with local businesses to save them $$$ on unnecessary commissions and keep your $$$ in Australia. I guarantee you will be greeted with bigger smiles & hospitality than you ever have before. 19.01.2022 COVID19 is affecting us all! I have noticed some extremely low rates popping up around town and it concerns me. Can I urge businesses to please maintain the value of their product during these tough times It’s very easy to slash prices for a quick fix however in the long run this is detrimental to your business. Remember to market to your ideal client. Your ideal client sees what you have to offer and is willing to pay the price you ask. By all means reward your ideal clie...nt with a one off discount or value add gift but do not fall into the trap of slashing prices. You will only find yourself having to continue to offer these lower prices to maintain your new clientele or having to spend time and money in a new marketing strategy to target your ideal clients again. Both will depreciate your business. And let’s get real... do you really want to be offering your ocean view apartments with access to luxury facilities such as full sized kitchens, heated pools, saunas and lifts at the same rate as a basic motel room with a kettle?! Don’t undersell yourself! Now while this is predominantly directed at my industry, Tourist Accommodation, I’m sure other industries will benefit from the advise also. See this time as an amazing opportunity to connect with your community. Dial in to the wants and needs of your ideal client. Ensure the product you are providing is what you say it is and is being presented at its very best. It feels like we are appealing to a much smaller audience while travel restrictions are in place but I argue that you have not marketed to much of this audience in the past. How many of you and your family regularly holiday within 250km of your own home? Exactly! Imagine how many residents within this area usually travel interstate or overseas? We have the opportunity to bring that tourist dollar into our businesses. Do you know how much you are missing out on by not exploring your own backyard? Let’s roughly map Hervey Bay, Toowoomba and Coolangatta as our boundaries during the extended 250km travel restriction commencing after June 12. Start learning about all the magnificent places and experiences we have on offer within this boundary. Invest your time in researching them, visit them if you can because these are your business assets, your draw cards, the reason people want to travel from all over to visit the Sunshine Coast. Everything you find can be an offering to your client or an add on to your business... your client will either pass it on their way to you or can reach it during a day trip from you... they just need to know about it! Support your local communities and businesses by reaching out to one another, share your product with each other, collaborate, but most importantly, maintain your prices so that our clients and guests to our area see the consistent value we offer.
