21.01.2022 The Queensland State Government are responsible for making sure projects like New Acland Stage 3 follow regulations and with approvals and support from the Federal Government and from independent experts, including Geoscience Australia, the CSIRO and the Independent Expert Scientific Committee, it's time to move forward and approve the project. #mining #constructionjobs #construction #buildingtheregions ........................................................ The New Acland S...tage 3 project has won Federal Government approval for its Groundwater Management and Monitoring Plan (GMMP). This was the final approval required at a Federal level and means the project only needs State sign off to become a reality, project owner New Hope Group says. Delay in securing approvals for Stage 3 to continue New Acland operations has seen the company shed workers and start to wind down activity. Its most recent quarterly report noted that the site’s coal handling and processing plant (CHPP) had reduced operations to just four days per week and the night shift production team had been reduced. The future of the thermal coal mine, north-west of Oakey, was a major State election issue due to the Labor Government’s refusal to approve Stage 3 on the grounds that all matters before the courts had not been finalised. 20.01.2022 The pandemic has highlighted the mining sector’s resilience, and the key role our sector plays in supporting communities and the broader economy however, community support for mining is at it's lowest and it would seem to some to be a legitimate contributor to Australia’s economic recovery means satisfying the community’s concerns regarding the sector’s environmental, social and governance performance. #mining #miningindustry #construction #constructionjobs #connectingindustr...y .................................................... Australia’s top 50 mid-tier miners have kept a steady course in terms of revenue over the past year despite the COVID-19 pandemic and could hold the key to resourcing Australia’s recovery, PwC says. The company’s Aussie Mine 2020 report provides industry and financial analysis on the mid-tier mining sector covering the 50 largest ASX mining companies with a market capitalisation of less than $5 billion. The latest report paints the MT50 as a story of two groups. The first includes producers of gold and iron ore, which have benefited from a significant increase in commodity prices and high demand. The second group, featuring commodities such as coal and copper, has not enjoyed these benefits. At the same time, this second group has suffered higher costs incurred while managing operations during COVID-19. 18.01.2022 The announcement of a new pipeline to connect Port Kembla Gas Terminal (PKGT) to the Eastern Gas Pipeline is great news for the Illawarra region with $76 million worth of subcontracts expected creating around 130 to 150 jobs during construction and between 40 to 50 ongoing jobs during operation. #buildingtheregions #jobs #construction #nsw ............................................................................................... Australian Industrial Energy Pty Ltd (AI...E) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with leading energy infrastructure company Jemena to connect the $250 million Port Kembla Gas Terminal (PKGT) with the Eastern Gas Pipeline (EGP), with the project on track to supply more than 75 per cent of New South Wales’ gas needs by the end of 2022. As part of the MOU, Jemena intends to construct a 12km underground pipeline capable of safely and efficiently transferring gas from the PKGT directly into the EGP the major natural gas arterial between Victoria and NSW.

16.01.2022 A raft of Queensland projects targeting critical minerals such as vanadium, graphite and cobalt are being promoted in an Association of Mining and Exploration Companies initiative. 14.01.2022 For the sector to move forward associations like the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) need to work with the government however, as a representative body, they also need to represent their members. The reality is 'times are changing' and to work together both parties and industry will need to secure confidence with those working in the sector as we move towards a carbon free energy economy. #consciouscommunications ....................................................... The... Queensland Resources Council is ready to get to work with the re-elected Labor Government and its new Mines Minister to deliver on a Resources Industry Development Plan to help Queensland recover from COVID-19. QRC chief executive Ian Macfarlane said the plan, which Treasurer Cameron Dick endorsed prior to the election campaign, was a blueprint for the growth of the coal, metals and gas sectors to supercharge Queensland’s economic recovery from COVID-19. He said Labor’s re-election as a majority government was great news for the resources sector and negated the impact of the Greens, whose anti-mining policies would have shut down the industry and put thousands of Queenslanders out of work. Before the election the QRC had secured bipartisan support for the plan on behalf of the state’s explorers, producers and suppliers. Mr Macfarlane said the latest economic contribution data showed the mining, gas and energy sector was supporting 420,000 jobs across Queensland and had been a bedrock of financial support and stability for the state economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. 12.01.2022 The Rockhampton region currently contributes approximately $8 billion via the resource and construction sector economically for the region per year with that figure expected to grow significantly due to slated projects over the next 3 to 4 years. #buildingtheregions #investlocal .................................................... ROCKHAMPTON’S Coxons Group are eager to expand on its Kawana site as it continues to strengthen its reputation as the region’s leading service hub.... The cooling solutions supplier on Thursday revealed it would soon inject more than $1 million into the site in a major facility overhaul. Works will include a brand new 400sqm washdown and strip bay, with additional engineering and fabrication facilities to boot. A future sandblast, painting and storage facility will also be constructed on a nearby adjacent block. While plans are undergoing approval, it was expected the works would be complete by mid-2021. Coxons Group managing director Joel Heazlewood said the move reflected confidence in the ever-growing region and its continued servicing to both the Bowen Basin and Galilee Basin. 11.01.2022 The past year has seen a surge in reactivated gold mines, as higher prices draw previously closed operations out for development. If all gold projects were realised over the time frame of the 2020 Resources and Energy Major Projects report, it's predicted Australia's gold production would increase by about one third ............................................... MOUNT Morgan's long abandoned mine could bustle once more, thanks to technological advances which make reprocessi...ng gold tailings at the site financially viable. In addition to bringing economic activity and employment back to the township, the technology that would be brought to bear has the ability to help clean up the problematic environmental contamination at the mine site. Buried in the 2020 Resources and Energy Major Projects report which was handed down this week by the Australian Government's Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources, were brief mentions of the potentially game-changing project. In a list of resources and energy sector projects at the feasibility stage were 17 gold projects, with the Mount Morgan project among five which were recognised as having the potential to progress to "committed" in the near term, provided there were supportive market conditions. The report said Heritage Minerals' $60 million Mount Morgan project had "recently completed a positive definitive feasibility study". "Heritage Minerals' $60 million Mount Morgan project in Queensland is expected to be reactivated at the end of 2021, after production ceased in 1990," the report said. Connect for full story.

03.01.2022 The jobs created by Novem Energy Australia just don't relate to the plant itself but throughout Central Queensland with BMA asset president James Palmer stating back in August recycling the tyres would create new jobs for the community with up to 30 new jobs being created in the Bowen Basin. #buildingtheregions #recycle #renewables #Jobs .................................................. BILOELA will be the site of one of two Australian-first recycling plants that will break ...down tyres from mining vehicles. The plant on Raedon Street will employ about 20 workers when it is complete by the end of next year and will be able to melt mining truck tyres such that a five-tonne tyre will produce up to 2,500l of oil, one tonne of steel, and about 1.5 tonnes of carbon black, as well as gas for conversion into electricity. Novum Energy Australia managing director Rowan Kendall called it a big step forward for the mining industry, as the tyre processing was more efficient and provided more reusable products compared with traditional methods. He said the plant would not produce any waste for landfill. It’s a kiln that is heated externally using the gas we produce, and excess gas is used for electricity, he said. Connect for full story.
