25.01.2022 If you know someone who is self-isolating we encourage you to share this with them. They will appreciate that you care. And that youre providing them with factual and credible information. #mentalhealthmatters #inthistogether #HardHatsStrongMinds

24.01.2022 It's the end of an era at Rural and Remote Mental Health we're saying goodbye to our CEO, Dr Jennifer Bowers. After devoting herself to improving the mental h...ealth of Australia's rural and remote communities for more than a decade, Dr Bowers has decided to retire. Her expertise and tireless dedication will be sorely missed. The Board and staff wish Dr Bowers all the best as she transitions to a well-deserved retirement.

22.01.2022 There is so much mis-information about COVID-19 especially on social media. Read and accept only information from reliable sources - and that might not be from your best friend or neighbour. Be sensible. Be alert but not alarmed. We will all get through this - but panicking isnt going to help anyone.

21.01.2022 A very valid point from Shane Bolton - Manager - Disaster Resilience @ SA Health. "We need to change narrative from 'social distancing' to 'physical distancing'. We absolutely want physical isolation but we don't want social isolation. (We) have to still look out for each other and stay connected....' Thanks Shane - very wise words. Hopefully it will lead to better behaviors from those who refuse to adhere to instructions and put everyone at risk. #physicaldistancing

19.01.2022 The government will appoint a National Commissioner for Defence and Suicide Prevention, making a Royal Commission into veteran suicide unnecessary. We support immediate and decisive action on the issue, including the development of appropriately tailored services. https://rrmh.info/200205a

19.01.2022 Did you know that photography can be a great stress reliever and even improve your mental health and wellbeing? Doing something creative elevates your mood, lowers your stress hormones, reduces anxiety and can improve your sleep. You don't have to have a fancy camera. Pickup your phone and see your world from a different perspective #becreative #energy #GoWithTheFlow #expressyourself #mentalhealth #ReframeYourWorld #HardHatsStrongMinds

19.01.2022 Sometimes a good belly laugh (or belly rub) makes all the difference

17.01.2022 Checking in on someone’s mental health doesn’t begin and end with a single question. Start by creating the right environment for someone to open up and answer you honestly. You can invite them to kick the footy around, hit the gym, or grab a cup of coffee. ... If someone does let you know they’re not coping so well, it’s important to listen. Let them know that you hear them and you’ve got their back. Then encourage them to take action. Help them find a medic, a GP or someone that can help. If the situation’s more urgent, call Lifeline on 13 11 14. Stay with the person and support them to make sure they're on the right track. And don’t forget to check in later. It could be as simple as sending a text message or knocking on the donga door to make sure their situation has improved. If someone you know isn't doing so well, the important thing is to listen and to guide them to the help they need. #RUOK #RUOKDay

09.01.2022 Make eye contact and smile at people who pass you by. You cant catch Covid-19 from a smile. :-) If enough people join in, this small act of kindness may catch on. It might even go viral. Kim Oates

09.01.2022 Do you have elderly parents or relatives? What about your neighbours? Dont forget about them. Reach out and offer some simple support. They will appreciate it. #staysafe #stayconnected #HardHatsStrongMinds

09.01.2022 FIFO life isn't as easy as it looks from the outside and the pandemic has added even more pressure to the job. Lots of FIFO workers are dealing with extended rosters and ongoing separation from their families. It's another reason to ask your mates #ROUK?

09.01.2022 Rotating rosters can play havoc with your sleeping pattern and it's easy to turn to coffee, sugar or energy drinks as a quick pick-me-up. But those solutions can become part of the problem. It takes our bodies several hours to process caffeine and those cups of coffee can really add up over the course of a shift. If you're having trouble sleeping, try cutting out the sugar and coffee (or consider switching to decaf).... If you can't give up coffee completely, try not to drink it after lunch. #sleepawarenessweek

Send your vid to [email protected] or 0409 959 535 so we can get sharing and help everyone stay mentally healthy. ... #mentalhealthmonth2020

08.01.2022 Christmas is the perfect time to check in with family and friends. When someone's feeling depressed, anxious or stressed, Christmas can feel more like a burden than a celebration. Ask how your loved ones are doing it might be just what they needed.

07.01.2022 Fantastic initiative #RoyHill An opportunity to see where your mine worker partner works and lives when he/she us not at home. Big machinery, long shifts, hot, dirty work. Its not always easy - but do worth it #HardHatsStrongMinds #wereallinthistogether #family

06.01.2022 #staysafe #stayconnected Do you have any family, friends or workmates who you havent been in touch with for a while? How are they going? Why not give them a call or send them a message of support. They will appreciate it. #wewillgetthroughthistogether

05.01.2022 Did you know... 2,070 Australians died of a drug overdose in 2018. That's one person every 5.6 hours. Many of these overdose deaths were unintentional. And its not just illicit or illegal drugs. More and more people are mis-using and abusing over-the-counter and prescription medication drugs too. If you, or someone you know, has a problem with drugs, there is professional support available to help you get through the difficult times. Have a chat to your GP or check out counsellingonline.org.au smartrecoveryaustralia.com.au They are both good starting points. #yourenotalone #askforhelp #resourceminds #HardHatsStrongMinds #reachout

05.01.2022 If you have friends or family in Queensland looking for work please pass this on to them. They will appreciate that you care. Thanks to the #AustraliasianMineSafetyResourcesandEnergy for this post #mining #supporteachother #jobs

05.01.2022 Exercise especially cardio can improve the length and quality of sleep. But there's a flipside. Because exercise increases the heart rate and body temperature, a workout can actually interfere with your sleep. Try hitting the gym before your shift rather than than after work, especially if you're on nightshift.

02.01.2022 Did you know it's Sleep Awareness Week? Sleep is so important to mental health, but it's not always easy to come by. This week, we're sharing some simple tips for getting a good night's rest.... #sleepawarenessweek

01.01.2022 Thank you to CME for letting us know what the industry is doing to ensure the health and wellbeing of our men and women who work in mining and resources. They are so important to our economic recovery - and more importantly, their family who wave them goodbye each time they leave for work. #HardHatsStrongMinds #lookoutforeachother #mentalhealth
