17.01.2022 It is National Safe Work Month. This year’s theme, Work Health and Safety through COVID-19, acknowledges and reflects the wide-reaching impacts of COVID-19 on Australian businesses, employers and workers. Workplaces have had to quickly adapt their practices and procedures to reduce the WHS risks arising from COVID-19 and to manage the psychological effects of the pandemic on workers. ... What adaptations have been made in your workplace? #rtc #wereforbettertraining #wereforbettersafety #safeworkmonth #safetytogether
16.01.2022 Rewards, no matter how small, are important devices to enhance knowledge acquisition and retention. Mild verbal praise (for example, feedback such as great point or excellent answer for a correct response or other training room contribution) is a simple form of reinforcement that is effective in encouraging participation. Even in adult learning situations, giving out sweets or a similar small reward for correct answers can create training room enthusiasm that bolsters learning. #TrainingTipTuesday #TrainingTips #ResourcesTraining #PositiveReinforcement
07.01.2022 Text should be clear and concise. Ever heard of the 1-6-6 Rule? This guideline suggests that effective presentations should have: One idea per slide A maximum of six bullet points per page No more than six words for every bullet point... This technique will optimise your presentation to be concise while keeping your audience engaged. #TrainingTipTuesday #TuesdayTrainingTip #TrainingTips #TrainingTip #ResourcesTraining #training #powerfulpowerpointpresentations

03.01.2022 Can you or your company help provide much needed cancer diagnosis and treatment facilities in Papua New Guinea? Our member, Ok Tedi Mining Limited’s community recently lost a valued team member and friend, Lorraine Balepai, to cancer. Ms Balepai’s case is one among many other cases directly or indirectly affecting OTML employees, its community and the wider Papua New Guinea community. ... The OTML Training Centre will be conducting a ceremony on 27th October to rename one of their training rooms in her honour. In conjunction with the ceremony, they are holding a Shave For a Cure fundraiser. The shave event will become an annual fund raiser in Lorraine’s memory and will provide much needed funds to purchase equipment for the Cancer ward, currently under construction, at Port Moresby General Hospital. This ward, once completed, will be the first and only specialist cancer treatment centre in PNG. We all know early detection and treatment saves lives and one can only wonder, in Lorraine’s case, what the outcome may have been if such a service had been available to her and other cancer victims in PNG. There are a growing number of shave volunteers across OTML who need your support. To donate contact [email protected] and we will provide the details. #oktedi #rtc
