24.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM DR PAROMA SARKAR MBBS, FRACP Respiratory & Sleep Physician... CLINIC TIMES Monday afternoons Dr Sarkar is a medical graduate from the University of Adelaide. She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and also a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, European Respiratory Society and Australian Sleep Association. She is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician who undertook her respiratory advanced training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and her sleep fellowship at the Adelaide Institute of Sleep Health which is a centre of research excellence in association with Flinders Medical Centre. She has been awarded the Mark Jolly award and the Allan Kerr Grant excellence in teaching award for her contribution to junior medical staff training. Dr Sarkar takes a particular interest in interstitial lung disease, lung cancer and sleep disorders.

17.01.2022 DR CARISSA YAP MBBS, FRACP Respiratory & Sleep Physician ****Please note Dr Yap is currently on maternity leave****... CLINIC TIMES Monday & Thursday (alternate fortnights) Dr Yap graduated with distinction from Monash University (MBBS) in Melbourne in 2009. She then completed physician training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and, subsequently specialised in respiratory medicine at Flinders Medical Centre with emphasis on a wide range of lung disorders. She also specialised in sleep medicine at Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health (AISH), which is renowned nationally as a leading tertiary centre for sleep medicine. Dr Carissa Yap is an award winning researcher and is active in clinical research to advance the field of respiratory and sleep medicine. She recently completed an extensive prospective research study at AISH in collaboration with CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) and FHBHRU (Flinders Human Behaviour & Health Research Unit) to achieve weight loss in overweight patients with obstructive sleep apnoea. She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) as well as the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA). She consults in a wide range of respiratory and sleep disorders, in particular: chronic cough and breathing difficulties including asthma and COPD, lung infections and malignancies as well as narcolepsy and restless legs syndrome. Her special interest is in the investigation of the causes of sleepiness such as sleep apnoea and insomnia. Dr Yap takes priority in meeting the individual well-being needs of her patients and constantly considers their preferences in managing their illnesses. She is known for her good rapport with her patients at comprehensive consultations, taking time to address her patients’ concerns and queries as well as providing optimal follow up.

14.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM DR RAL ANTIC AM, MBBS, FRACP... CLINIC TIMES Friday mornings Dr Ral Antic is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician caring for adults with all respiratory and sleep disorders. He was the founding Director of the Department of Thoracic Medicine at the RAH, a centre which has led in the development of multidisciplinary standard and highly specialised respiratory and sleep services for SA. He established and continues to provide specialist respiratory and sleep services at the Alice Springs, Whyalla. Port Augusta and Port Pirie Hospitals and links with community organisations to assist them in helping patients with a number of types of respiratory diseases. He was an early leader in Air Quality improvement in SA and Smoking Cessation and in the training of two generations of respiratory specialists. He has held a number of lead roles in peak national and state professional and community organisations - President of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, of the National Asthma Council, the Asthma Foundation of SA, The National TB Advisory Committee. He is currently the President of the International Union against TB and Lung Disease, Asian Pacific Region. In 2012 he was made a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) for Services to Thoracic Medicine.



10.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM DR SIEW UNG WONG Respiratory and General Physician MBBS, B. Med Sc, FRACP... CLINIC TIMES Wednesday mornings Dr Siew Ung Wong graduated from University of Melbourne in 2006. He completed his dual specialty training in Respiratory Medicine / Acute and General Medicine from various teaching hospitals in Adelaide, including 6 months of palliative care medicine training. He became a fellow with Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2016. He holds the position of Associate Clinical Lecturer with the University of Adelaide. He then undertook Clinical Fellowship in interventional pulmonology involving advanced bronchoscopy (endobronchial ultrasound, bronchial thermoplasty) and pleuroscopy at the National University Hospital Singapore. Dr Wong is a member of several national and international thoracic societies. He thrives for the provision of comprehensive care to all his patients ranging from diagnosis, treatment, surveillance as well as supportive care pathway. He sees a broad range of respiratory illness and sleep disorders, with special interest in COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, interventional pulmonology, lung cancer and pleural diseases management. He also provides consultations for various general medical conditions

03.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM DR AARON OH MBBS FRACP Respiratory and Sleep Physician... CLINIC TIMES Tuesdays 8:30am - 5:30pm He graduated from the University of Adelaide, and completed his Respiratory training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he was also the Chief Medical Resident. He went on to complete his Sleep fellowship at the Australian Institute of Sleep Health (AISH). Dr Oh has served on the SA/NT Executive Board of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, and is a current member of the Australasian Sleep Association’s Advanced Trainee Education subcommittee. His interests include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung disease (lung fibrosis), and the full range of sleep disorders: snoring, sleep apnoea, parasomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, and narcolepsy.

03.01.2022 MEET OUR TEAM DR MICHAEL CHIA MBBS, FRACP Medical Director... CLINIC TIMES Tuesday & Thursday (all day). Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings (sleep patients only). Dr Michael Chia undertook his medical degree at the University of Adelaide and completed his internship and post-graduate studies at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. After spending three years in the USA for his post-fellowship training, first at the National Institute of Health then at the University of Texas, Dallas, he return to Adelaide in 1993. He is currently a Visiting Consultant and Thoracic Medicine at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He has had over 25 years experience in Sleep and Respiratory Medicine and spent many years as a visiting Specialist at the Repatriation Hospital, Daw Park. He is also affiliated with Northern Respiratory in Elizabeth and Sleep SA at the North Eastern Hospital. Michael provides care for patients with both Respiratory and Sleep disorders, as well as any other interventional pulmonary services required for both the Public and Private sector.
