11.01.2022 It's been a while .. but we are back ! We continue to celebrate women this month. Here are a few facts to consider:... According to the 2019 Workplace Gender Equality Agency report women earn $241.50 less per week than their male counterpart. At the age of 25, the average woman has 9.1 per cent less in super than her male counterpart, but by the time she turns 39, the gap has grown to 24.6 per cent. This sharp divide only worsens later in life, with the gap peaking for average workers aged 55 to 59 years old at 40.4 per cent, the research from Industry Super Australia shows, leaving men retiring with $90,000 more in their super on average. Women still continue to struggle to close the financial literacy gap compared to their male counterpart. The latest figures from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia Survey reveal 66 per cent of overseas-born women from non-English speaking backgrounds aged 55 to 59, have a super balance of zero or less than $50,000. This is not okay ... We want to do our part.We believe financial education and empowerment are the next steps for change to occur and to close the financial literacy gap.
