08.01.2022 Fit Ball Training, until last week I can hardly remember when I used this piece of equipment in a class. Last week, I was asked to take a seated class for COTA (Council of The Aging). I was thinking this would be easy, not. Lol... Exercising while seated eliminates the lower body assisting. Therefore I felt my upper body muscles working harder. As we were seated, I used a lot of cross crawling exercises which stimulate the nervous system, spinal muscles and various systems to work optimally together. It is harder then it looks. Lastly, I was impressed with how easily my TA engaged (transverse abdominis). I could feel it through out the class. Being seated and lifting my leg the TA engaged automatically. I sometimes feel we override the engagement due to bad posture. I was impressed with the benefits that I tweaked the class to do at Fernwood today using a fit ball. The fitball added more instability, hence a lot more challenging. It might be time I dusted off the fitball and bring it back into my classes.
