Psalm: 34:1-8 (Parry) Hymns: 1. Come Down O Love Divine (Vaughan Williams) 2. The God of Abraham Praise (Leoni) 3. We Have a Gospel to Proclaim (Gardiner) "Domenico Scarlatti's Mass for Four Voices (also named the Mass from Madrid) was found in a Spanish archive. Scarlatti likely performed it in 1754 for a private church service in Madrid, but he may have drawn sketches in Rome and taken it with him when he left for self-imposed exile in Portugal, later in Spain. Most of the liturgical music Scarlatti wrote was meant to be performed on the spot for a specific occasion for the master he served at that specific moment. It was not meant for posterity. Scarlatti would have laughed at the prediction that some 300 years after his service as a maestro di capella in Rome, anyone would care about his masses."
