30.03.2022 Welcome to your Wednesday Store Design Inspiration - Tend, NYC Its no secret that most people dread the idea of going to dentist, that’s just what former SmileDirectClub CEO Doug Hudson, had in mind when created Tend. His aim was to take the routine out of dental hygiene, and make biannual checkups positive experiences rather than chores. The space itself looks nothing like a dentist - we’re loving its soft pastel hues, calm but on trend lighting, natural blonde wood accents ...and smart hints of teeth (check out the waiting room table + portraits throughout). But our favourite part are the Beats headphones in each ‘suite’ (aka exam room) for customers to listen to soothing nature documentaries whilst having their teeth cleaned. At first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking this was a gallery or some kind of new age electronics storebut alas, you’re looking at the B+Tube cosmetics store, created in collaboration with Shanghai-based Dutch retail design agency Storeage. B+Tube’s collection of beauty products ranges from skincare, make-up, travel and lifestyle products, all focused around the idea of freedom of expression -... and the store is most definitely a direct representation of that. The combination of the rolling holographic tunnels and archways mixed with the monotone use of stark white tiles and chrome panelling is a match made in heaven - social media heaven, that is! The brand reveals that the radiant space created specifically for their Gen Z customer, is focusing on AI driven digital interaction within the space. So, for a car company in the business of ride sharing to open a showroom might have you asking a few questionsbut of course, this is not a showroom (don’t be silly!), it’s a club. It’s genius really, in a wor...ld where consumers are becoming more thoughtful with their purchases and rejecting the idea of ownership in regard to cars, to open a car club, where for once the car isn’t the main focus is, simply put, perfect! And speaking of perfect - we’re loving the use of repurposed exposed brick, neon feature colours and black rugged metalwork encasing the only car in the club. Within the walls of this impressive space no less than 2 social events will be held each week to keeps its members coming back. These events will range from sets by local DJs to exclusive sneaker drops to film screenings, cooking clinics, and jewellery-making workshopsthe list goes on.
