This can be a great way to increase your cash-flow but there are other things you should consider: ... Costs around $100,000 start to finish (including permits and the build itself) People have been doing these on 600sqm blocks in many of the areas we target Min 60sqm is the requirement for a granny flat depending on your council Granny flats can increase your rental return by $250-$400pw It is possible to put a strata title but not in all cases - there are very specific requirements for this The granny flat should be separately metered from the main dwelling A negative aspect of this type of asset, would be the buying pool may become strictly investors Also, before you drop $100,000 on building a granny flat you should also consider what other uses you have for this money.
