17.01.2022 OUT OF OFFICE It’s officially time for me to practice what I preach and take a short little getaway to relax and recharge I’m so grateful to be heading off for a week beside the sea, but as a one-woman show it will mean a little delay to any orders for the next week or so All orders after midnight tomorrow (Tuesday 27 April) will be shipped out on Friday 7 May when I return! Things will then be business as usual from Friday 7 May onwards ... If you have an order you desperately need ASAP be sure to purchase before midnight tomorrow Thanks so much for your understanding - after 18 months in Vic I’m so grateful to be able to get out and see another state Em xx @elme.creative
11.01.2022 "I strongly believe that investing in yourself, listening to your body and honouring how you feel is a form of productivity. Balance is so important. I used to paint until late at night and I now finish around 3-4pm go for a walk, have a bath and have me time. I think it's so crucial to make that part of your ‘work’ - working on yourself. I live my life by the self-care of listening to my body, and what it needs to be nourished physically, and emotionally. ... Whether this means slowing down with work, missing a social event, or having a few days where I do yoga, beach walks and facemasks, I know it serves me holistically to listen and be kind to myself. Because pushing against that never works." - A moment with the divine Jenna @loveludie Read our full chat with Jenna via the link in bio See more
07.01.2022 Oddly enough, before deciding on a career-change and studying counselling I’d never actually been to a counsellor myself.... Despite knowing the importance of taking care of my mental health it's just not something I'd ever decided to try - probably because I didn't really understand how it could help in my everyday life, not just as a tool in a crisis situation. I've since been fortunate enough to experience the roles of both counsellor and client and ha...ve seen first-hand the powerful impact that talking to someone can have. Humans are complicated creatures but it turns out the combination of an empathetic listener + a supportive environment really can help us find clarity and confidence to deal with life's everyday challenges. Pretty cool, I reckon See more
07.01.2022 I recently read that emotional intelligence is a common denominator among mentally-strong people and an increasingly desired skill set in the workplace... I always thought emotional intelligence was the ability to read and respond to the emotions of others - but had no idea it was fundamentally about understanding and regulating your own emotions too. Turns out being able to understand, recognise and respond to the needs of those around us starts with und...erstanding ourselves first. Just in case you needed another reason why self-care isn't selfish Notes inspired by Daniel Goleman's 'Emotional Intelligence' and Audrey Dean's 'Stay Strong'.
03.01.2022 Got my car serviced AND went to the dentist this week... only been putting both of these things off for two years Have you got any life admin items you just keep putting off because it feels impossible to find the time? Please tell me I'm not the only one! Notes inspired by 'How Millennials Became The Burnout Generation' an article by Anne Helen Peterson.
