19.01.2022 School from home is out (for Queensland)! Do you think the ‘parent of the week’ certificates are still in the mail? I’m just asking for a friend. A big high five to all the teachers that had to adapt to a new way of teaching overnight and who helped their students learn through a pandemic.... A massive high five to our kids who had to learn without a teacher within arms reach while parents juggled working from home/running a household while facilitating learning for multiple ages within the family. And to the parents... remember when the internet was full of so much fear around how it was going to be possible? We are on the other side of it now and we did it! I am sure there were some days that were more challenging than others, but we did it. We learnt new things about our kids, spent more time as a family unit and got creative with ways to stay occupied indoors. What did you learn about yourself or your kids during the pandemic? I learnt that one of my girls can get overwhelmed quickly if things aren’t broken down into small steps and that the other will do anything for a reward. I also learnt that watching your own child master a skill they have been struggling with is more rewarding than mastering a skill myself.

12.01.2022 Cleaning your house without kids is not a break. Showering is not a break. Grocery shopping alone is not a break. It’s chores and basic hygiene but mother’s are... supposed be so grateful to do these things that literally everyone else just does. And at some point we just break. I’ve lost myself in motherhood, all I have is responsibilities, I don’t even remember what I enjoy. See more
