17.01.2022 Who remembers Popeye? Shiver me timbers! This Donkey Kong alike was a sleeper hit by Nintendo in an Atari designed cabinet. Originally Donkey Kong was going to include the Popeye characters but Nintendo couldn't get the rights at the time! Ported to most home systems at the time, it never made to the Atari 7800...but now it appears a homebrew port will be on its way soon. Blow me down! 15.01.2022 Message from the elect Earlier in 2020 we announced that we would be postponing AVCon to January of 2021. At the time this was the only date that we could secur...e. We are now faced with the fact that going ahead in January would mean many of our hard-working vendors, attendees and guests would not be able to attend. The Adelaide Convention Centre had a cancellation and we were able to secure new dates. The new dates for AVCon are July 23rd - 25th 2021. We believe that these dates are our best chance at having AVCon thrive and survive for another year. The financial impact that this year has had on us, our sponsors, exhibitors and artists has not been easy. We are working with the relevant authorities to ensure that AVCon will be safe and will comply with all laws and restrictions. The safety of our attendees will be our top priority. Tickets will be honoured and transferred to the new dates (new tickets will be released in late 2020/early 2021) refunds will be issued if needed - please contact [email protected] to organise any refunds The AVCon Ball will be postponed until it can be held safely (early 2021) and we are planning to host a community event to support our local artists and exhibitors. Artists Alley applications will no longer be carried over, and a new application period will commence early 2021. In regards to communication on this issue please use the proper channels (email address provided). We are a volunteer run organisation and we are all people at the end of the day, so we would like to keep things constructive and friendly. We understand that these date changes are frustrating, we appreciate your patience and we're really looking forward to seeing you at AVCon 2021 and showing you all the exciting things we've been planning. 11.01.2022 Late breaking news. Super Mario 3D-All Stars arrives on September 18th. It includes enhanced versions of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. Its apparently only available digitally and physically until March 31 (good one Nintendo, where have we seen that before, sheesh ). Additionally, also coming is Super Mario Bros 35 is the original tweaked to a 35 player battle royale game, and new Game & Watch with a stack of games (also to be released in a very limited run ).

The original version of Epyx's classic puzzle game was published for the Atari Lynx (way back in 1989!), but gained a fairly decent sized cult following after being included in the Microsoft Entertainment Pack #4 for PC. 144 levels, choice of the original Windows or Lynx aesthetic, gameplay that's easy to grasp but challenging to master... 03.01.2022 The quirky monochrome Playdate handheld, created by Panic (of Untitled Goose Game fame), will now be released next year. Following much anticipation, the company has now announced that the handheld device will be out during 2021. The latest news comes after Panic shifted its staff to remote work conditions, while its factory in Malaysia temporarily closed down due to the ongoing pandemic.
