23.01.2022 As we shared in a previous post, local Geham resident and staunch wildlife advocate, Deborah Hansen has been providing much needed water stations at locations where she regularly sees koalas. Thanks to the efforts of the locals who have donated containers she has been able to increase the number of these water stations. As a thank you, here are some updates from Deb with some photos of the local residents!

23.01.2022 An 18-year study of longleaf pine savannah showed a 5 percent species increase per year when isolated plots were reconnected.

13.01.2022 Some places may have had good rain but the need to get these waterers out is still very much an urgent issue...especially for the tree based ones to keep the tree creatures safely in their trees....please keep sharing

09.01.2022 KOALA Lainey has fought against many odds to now be well on her way to health with the love and expertise of her dedicated Carer Kiara. Thank you Kiara and way to go Lainey.

09.01.2022 We work closely with Deb, and can vouch for her incredible work ethic and compassion (and understanding) for koalas. Anything you can contribute to Water for Wildlife will go to immediate, front line efforts to support our fragile South East Queensland koala population.

08.01.2022 Billions of creatures...NOT millions like first estimates, died in the fires ....not enough to move government authorities into action though....

07.01.2022 Any of you who are willing/able to volunteer, please do! We have local people who are doing this in our area, and I am sure they are all that is standing between the surviving animals and death by dehydration and starvation. In some areas even two months after the fires, we were seeing no new growth of leaf, so Kangaroo Island has a long, hard slog ahead of them still. Contact details for the volunteers is listed in the article. There are distressing images in the article, so view at your own risk. https://7news.com.au//kangaroo-island-wildlife-fears-rspca

01.01.2022 'A former NSW fire and rescue commissioner, Greg Mullins, has written this week that the hotter and drier conditions, and the higher fire danger ratings, were preventing agencies from carrying out prescribed burning. He said: Blaming ‘greenies’ for stopping these important measures is a familiar, populist, but basically untrue claim.'
