07.05.2022 We are expecting Puppies!!

30.04.2022 Do you advocate for your dog? Our dogs become a huge part of our family. What do we do for family? We care for them, and protect them the best way we know ho...w. This should include our dogs. Do you let strangers run up, pat and interact with your children in a way that you can see makes your child uncomfortable? If the answer is no, then do you do the same for your dog? For our dogs to have trust in us they need to know that we will take care of scary or uncomfortable situations. This means we need to step in and take charge (even if it means upsetting someone else). Our dogs also need to know what’s expected of them in various situations involving other people or dogs. This means setting boundaries and being consistent. Today little Lexi and her owners had trainer Mel over to help with dealing with other people (friends and strangers) and how these people treat Lexi. They learnt valuable skills in being able to advocate for Lexi’s needs. To say no when they don’t want someone to pat their dog. They also learnt how to enforce the boundaries they’ve put in place, in terms of what appropriate behaviour is around people. This includes communicating to people on how to approach your dog. If you won’t stand up for your dog, who will? #standupforyourdog #advocateforyourdog
