21.01.2022 Thank you to Glenn Hardy of IER for sharing his research insights and thoughts on the future of the events sector and consumer sentiment as we move into recovery mode. Glenn shared some interesting research results from some recent festivals and events, which highlighted that the top thing attendees want in order to feel safe at an event is limited crowds and social distancing. This led into a great discussion around the need for events to reset and innovate...something that ...Glenn noted as a thing that punters are expecting! The key take out and tip from Glenn was to undertake some research NOW to understand what is important to your past attendees. He feels that those events that can do a brief survey and gather some research around their consumers as part of their COVID safe planning process, will be ahead of the rest. Stay tuned, as Glenn has also offered to share a few key questions for you to ask in this survey. 13.01.2022 The industry is invited to participate in the 'We Make Events' movement. 30 September marks a national evening of recognition with various icons across the country being lit red in recognition of the event industry's value The Australian live events industry has declared a ‘Red Alert Day’ on Wednesday 30th September to raise awareness of its dire situation in the wake of COVID-19 and lobby for sustained government support.... Part of the international #WeMakeEvents movement that is highlighting how the live events sector urgently needs support to survive the COVID-19 crisis, buildings around Australia will be illuminated in red on 30th September to signify, according to organisers, that the entertainment industry is dying. The recently announced $250 million plan to restart Australia’s creative economy may sound like good news for the events industry, but in reality, the funding will not reach those hundreds of companies who supply lighting, audio, staging, video and other production services to events. 09.01.2022 The silver lining of COVID for the events sector is definitely the time it has given (and perhaps the forced need) to reset and reimagine. Parrtjima Australia organisers believe that this opportunity to deconstruct all parts of the event and think about how it is delivered has led to their best event yet! I liked that we put our heads together to think up new ways it breathes new life into events having to do these things. Adding new virtual elements and doing things differently really sharpens our skills.
