22.01.2022 Kingston Courtyard Well. It’s been almost 2 years now since we finished what is easily one of my favourite and by far most challenging landscape projects - this Kingston Courtyard. I won’t go on and on about why it was such a challenge but suffice to say building a garden on a concrete slab in the middle of a house had some fun problems to solve, Including:... - Hidden irrigation and drainage (which needed to be core-drilled through the basement slab); - Design and installation of custom water feature and several planter boxes - All power and water needed to come from the basement below - Courtyard only accessible through front door - Everything had to fit together perfectly! There were many sleepless nights building this as it had to be perfect, but what made this a dream was having the trust from our amazing clients (thank you John & Myra), and being surrounded by great subcontractors and a switched on designer to assist with the problem solving, thank you Dom of @gardenspace Proud to say this garden has settled in well, even surviving through the hail storm earlier in the year. Amazing effort by @floriade_australia and @visabel_festivals_events in persisting with the event (albeit with a twist), despite the obvious challenges of 2020. It’s been so nice to see pockets of colour and flower displays around town the last few weeks. We all need more of that in our lives, this year even more than ever...... Thank you Floriade for providing some joy and colour to a pretty challenging year! See more
