24.01.2022 ** POSITION AVAILABLE ** We have a full time ongoing position available at the Coonamble Fire Control Centre. The District Assistant assists with implementing a range of projects and activities across the District, consistent with the personal work plan, so as to support and improve service delivery for members of the NSW RFS and the community.... Remuneration package of $88,001. Package includes salary ($73,397 pa - $80,366 pa), employer's contribution to superannuation and annualised leave loading. 22.01.2022 EXPRESSION OF INTEREST OPEN MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID COURSE The RFSA has teamed up with St John NSW to offer members the opportunity to complete FREE training in Mental Health First Aid.... The first round of placements filled up fast and the RFSA has secured a second round of additional placements so even more members can benefit. The course will teach members how to provide initial support to those developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. Please note this course is not a therapy or support group, rather it is an education course to learn how to give first aid to others. The course will be delivered by a highly experienced professional who will give members the skills to recognise the signs of mental disorders early, effective strategies to assist, and the confidence to use them. Course requirements include: 4.5 hours live online training to be held on a nominated date;* Mandatory pre-learning to be completed before live online training commences. This will be emailed to successful applicants. *Note: You will require a camera enabled desktop or laptop computer. The training component is conducted completely online, there is no need to travel for this training. The course cost will be covered by the RFSA. 13.01.2022 We would like to confirm that calls from (02) 9094 2428 have been made by our Raffle Centre, and are not a scam. Raffle fundraising is used for brigade grants ...throughout the year, sponsorship of RFS events, scholarships, chaplaincy and welfare. We work closely with the RFS chaplains to support firefighters in need. We bring the ideas and opinions of our members to the RFS and Government using a collaborative approach, for more information please visit our website www.rfsa.org.au In the current fire situation we provide practical support to RFS volunteers and staff in the form of additional meal options, clean t-shirts and care packs. 13.01.2022 Update to RFSA Member Benefits The way the RFSA offers some member benefits is changing. The RFSA has partnered with Member Advantage for several years to provide a platform of benefits to members. Following a review of the program, the decision has been made to move away from this third-party style program to a more direct relationship with suppliers.... Member Advantage will still be available to members until 28 February 2021, and regular users of Member Advantage will be notified of this change for any last-minute purchases they may wish to make. We are excited to announce that we are starting to build our own platform to provide members with access to products and services at great rates: RFSA Plus. With initial discounts available from suppliers including TFE Hotels, Hertz car rental and St John NSW, we are looking forward to continuing to add more providers to this new offering for RFSA Members. You can find more information about our RFSA Plus partners and their offers for members at rfsa.org.au/member-benefits In the coming weeks all RFSA members will be receiving a pack with their new RFSA member card attached. This pack includes information on the support and benefits of being a member of the RFSA, along with information on the RFSA Plus program.
11.01.2022 Members would be aware of the Commissioner’s communication yesterday concerning the way complaints are dealt with by the RFS. Members of the Association’s Boar...d recently raised concerns directly with the Commissioner about the way certain complaints have been handled by the RFS, and the impact on volunteer members in particular. It is clear that the current grievance and discipline system has not been working as well as it should, and we are encouraged by the Commissioner acknowledging that. We look forward to working with the RFS as it develops a new system to better support members.
