25.01.2022 What time do you train and why? We have many members who love to come in early in the morning and start their day with a session! Some because it helps them get started and feel pumped for the day, others because they want to get their training done so they don’t have to worry about it later! We also have members who find it works better to use the creche and gym after school drop off at 9:30am for some time for themselves. For me personally I often train in the afternoon whe...n I can’t think straight and I’m tired from the day!! It can be a struggle to find the motivation but I throw myself into class and let me tell you the feeling I have after just reminds me why its so important for me to train!! My head is clear, my body feels good and I can settle into the evening knowing I left it all on the gym floor! What time do you train and why? #perthfitfam #timetotrain #perthmums#perthfitness#fitnation#fitness#crossfit#gymnastics#functionaltraining#functionalfitness#crossfitcommunity#weigthloss#gymnasticsbodies#crossfithealth @rfx_athletic_cockburn@rfx_athletic_forrestdale@rfx_athletic_bibralake

22.01.2022 Congratulations to our Forrestdale Member of the month for August!! Anthea Kilminster!! Anthea is an absolute pleasure to coach, she brings a smile every morning to the 5am class and is up for anything. Her grit and determination is second to none, from not being able to squat or run 200m to smashing 400 and 600m runs on the regular is just a few examples of her can do attitude, and now even getting the grandchildren involved we can look forward to having her in the communit...y for the foreseeable future. From all the coaching staff at FD much love and high fives. Keep smashing it Anthea! Read what Anthea has to say about her journey so far!! Why did you decide to join RFX Athletic? I was at a stage where going to the gym, doing my own thing was not particularly challenging or motivating. I was losing interest and missing more days than actually working out. What frustrations/issues were you having? My main reason for continuing with the gym was health related as there is a family history of osteoporosis and I was determined that if I could build strong bones now I would be better off. Through a miscommunication I was offered a week's free trial of RFX Athletic. Considering my age, that first day was one of trepidation that turned into the most exhilarating experience. While I could do some of the exercises others were beyond my ability but every challenge I presented to the coaches, they found a solution. What was different about RFX? The thing I like about RFX Athletic is that every thing is able to be scaled and it allows for all abilities to participate. Training at RFX Athletic I have found is particularly addictive. I never want to miss a session as there is always something to challenge you and when you notice the small changes in your abilities or skill level you become motivated to achieve more. I love the friends I've made and the community spirit of RFX members in general. Things that I've achieved in the last 10 months... Can run 400m without stopping Doesn't take me 4 plus minutes to 18 cals on the assault bike Can actually do lunges correctly Am able to 10 burpees without dying Lifting weights i never thought possible. Take us to the moment when you realised RFX was your answer? It’s the little incremental changes that come about without you really noticing that makes training at RFX special. Also the coaches make it special as well. All of them that have taken a session that I've participated in have made it fun, interesting and motivational. Nothing is a problem and the constant coaching while practising the skill is one of the best things about Crossfit. Tell us what life looks like now that your training at RFX Athletic? Life looks pretty damn good at present and I'm stronger now than at any other time in my life.

07.01.2022 At RFX we want to find fun and intriguing ways to build strength, skill and stability that ultimately keeps our members engaged and having fun! A handstand push-up is a way to build shoulder strength, shoulder and midline stability, upper body coordination and it is fun, so people are drawn to the movement and it makes them feel good when they accomplish such a difficult movement! Although a workout may have handstands in them, the intention is to build strength and stability... not necessarily to do the handstand. We just use the movement as an expression of the result we are looking for! Currently in class we are running an 8-week cycle where we focus on building shoulder strength by using movements such as barbell pressing, seated pressing, handstands, plank holds, and various versions of the handstand push-up as well. There are options for every level from beginer to more advanced! Until our client have the requisite strength and technique to do a HSPU safely we train all the different variations and skills until they are capable and want to try! Everything is a choice here! It doesn’t matter what level you are we are here to help get you get fitter stronger, healthier and feeling good!
06.01.2022 Getting dat booty popping! In Functional Fitness there are a lot of movements trained that use both sides of the body at the same time! For example a squat or bench press. The issue is, we all generally have a more dominant side and can end up building strength unevenly in different parts of the body which can lead to muscle imbalance and injury. At RFX we ensure that our training has a balance of unilateral bilateral movements to keep our members balanced, moving well and fe...eling good! In our current training cycle we are specifically building unilateral leg strength by adding in a weighted lunge and have implemented booty bands to really activate those glutes and get the hips firing on all cylinders!! Let’s just say that after that class you’ll feel those hips definitely don’t lie!! #perthfitfam#hipsdontlie #perthmums#perthfitness#fitnation#fitness#crossfit#gymnastics#functionaltraining#functionalfitness#crossfitcommunity#crossfitgirls#weigthloss#gymnasticsbodies#crossfithealth @rfx_athletic_cockburn@rfx_athletic_forrestdale@rfx_athletic_bibralake
