25.01.2022 Healing Times . Really nice post by @dr.caleb.burgess . One of the most common issues I encounter when helping people recover from an injury or from surg...ery is of the healing times of various tissues. Everyone wants to be better NOW, but this isn't realistic. Tissue healing takes TIME. We can't rush it. And it's important to understand that tissues heal at different rates depending on their physical makeup and blood supply, among other things. Additional contributing factors, such as diabetes, age, poor nutrition, inadequate rest, etc can further delay the healing process. . This chart shows the AVERAGE range of healing times for various tissues in the body, including different grades of tissue injury for muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It can serve not only as a guide but also a reminder that we can't force our bodies to heal faster than physiologically possible. What we can do is OPTIMIZE the healing process by rehabbing appropriately, eating high quality food, getting adequate rest, and staying PATIENT and POSITIVE throughout the journey. . SAVE this chart as a reference and TAG a friend recovering from injury who could use it too! Questions? Comments? I'm happy to help! . Axe, M. J., & Shields, C. L. (2005). 15.01.2022 Dry Needling is a very effective technique for de activating/eliminating myofascial trigger points (TrPs). TrPs are localised bundles of muscle fibres that fail to relax (ie. hyper irritable bands) and are common in muscles prone to overload, overuse and/or repetitive trauma. Examples include postural muscles in the neck (trapezius), shoulder (pectorals, rotator cuff) and pelvic (groin, hip flexors) girdles. TrPs can refer characteristic pain patterns for each muscle group, a...nd muscles housing TrPs fatigue more rapidly than normal poor muscle firing and weakness. Tight pectorals housing TrPs would not be ideal if you are attempting a 1RM for the Bench Press or require unhindered shoulder ROM during an overhead lift or throw! A note that TrPs can also be part of a more global pattern or chain of dysfunction, so be sure to get a thorough assessment by a qualified professional. #dryneedling #triggerpointtherapy #bigbench #benchpress #pectear #powerlifting #weightlifting #olympicweightlifting #crossfit #sportsinjuryrehab #rgchiropractic #rgchiropracticandrehabilitation #campsiechiropractor See more
