22.01.2022 Has anyone found this green 29er spinnaker left at the club? Please contact Amanda if found. Thanks.
21.01.2022 RGYC Junior Club Captain & Vice-Captain Voting for the RGYC Junior Club Captain & Vice-Captain will happen this Friday evening at Bully’s training. The nominations were taken last Friday and all nominated candidates have been emailed and they need to accept or decline the nomination prior to the vote (to respond by Thursday evening to Jason Farnell)... We encourage all juniors to attend and vote even if not sailing those that cannot attend can contact Jason to make alternate arrangements to have their vote counted.
20.01.2022 Friday night RGYC training is on. I know a few may be taking a long weekend! All under 18’s welcome. If parents could please be aware of limit of 10 adults including those assisting. Rigged and ready at 4.30 for a 5pm sail. See you there.
19.01.2022 Re Friday night training 25th September Please read in full! It will be going ahead but with limits. It will be a shortish session due to daylight savings not ...being in. So don’t panic if you can’t attend. With so little sailing happening over winter, there was quite a bit of interest. Now to the logistics. We can have up to 30 participants in operating groups of no more than 10. So in helping us to structure how best to enable this, we kindly ask that you register by email to [email protected]. Please do this before Thursday midday to give us a bit of time, do not just turn up on the evening! You won’t be allowed to participate. The numbers limits apply to everybody present at club so this means a few provisos. The evenings sailing will be for our junior classes only, Optis, Cadets and any Bics interested. No social sailing by other intermediate classes ( Lasers, 29ers etc) whilst training is on. I know this will be annoying to quite a few of you, but we kindly ask you to swallow your indignation and be considerate of the circumstances we find ourselves in. Rest assured we are doing our best to get all our young sailors out on the water. This will hopefully change in the very near future as restrictions ease further or we will make alternative arrangements along similar lines for our intermediates. For similar reasons we also ask that parents do not come onto the club yard area premises unless absolutely necessary. Once again a nuisance we ask you to be tolerant of. Change rooms are not to be used, so arrive dressed to sail and leave the same. But on a positive note, how good to get on water again. Thanking you in anticipation and please be appreciative of the situation, we find ourselves in unique times and have to work in with stringent requirements. It is important we adhere to the rules and try not to find a way around them. Please don’t create awkward situations for us. But kids out training again at last. Bully on behalf of RGYC

18.01.2022 SAIL SANDY DEFERRED TO 20-21 FEBRUARY 2021 With Sail Sandy unable to proceed in the usual October time slot due to Victorian COVID-19 restrictions, the organisi...ng committee of Sail Sandy has deferred SYC's annual Sail Sandy Regatta to Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 February 2021. No doubt with a beautiful weekend of February weather in Melbourne, we'll see a stunning to days of sailing at SYC. Make sure you pop the new dates in your calendar as it's bound to be another great Sail Sandy Regatta! https://syc.com.au/sail-sandy/ See more
17.01.2022 Per our recent press release, Fleet 6 (Vic), together with ICCA, is working hard to plan a national level regatta at the start of 2021. It is currently proposed... that this be held at the end of Term 1 holidays (approx 12-16 April) in order to fit in with SA, Tas and Vic school holidays. We appreciate that the cancellation of the usual Dec regatta caused considerable disappointment among the cadet family, and are excited that we can work towards another event. Stay tuned for more details soon! See more
13.01.2022 This is a terrific choice and puts the International Cadet Class in as strong a position as could be expected. It is welcomed widely and we congratulate Jan Martin Wilschut
13.01.2022 Just a reminder if possible I know it is very hard with school, but there is a photo shoot at 4pm before training this afternoon. It does represent importance of some significance to the Club, so if you can, please try and get there. I understand that Sunday racing went really well, great to see.... There was some conjecture that why is training so regimented and Sunday was more liberal with numbers. I have spoken to the relevant people, it appears DHHS are no longer greatly concerned with the 10 group limit on water and are more relaxed about it. So training and racing are a bit more open as per latest memo. Sailing. 18 YEARS OLD OR UNDER Organised club racing and training for sailors 18 years old or under can resume (this includes double handed dinghies). There is no limit on the number of boats on the water for racing or training. If parents/ guardians (19 years and older) are supporting the rigging of boats, then the area must be segmented into groups of 10 adults as a maximum (there is no specific distance required between groups, however, the areas for rigging must be obviously signed and separated). Masks must be worn on land at all times. Parents are permitted to support their children; however, they must keep 1.5 meters distance from others and not congregate in groups of larger than 10. Where adults over 18 years of age are sailing with children 18 and under, then the social distancing rule of 1.5 meters applies as outlined in the following section. Coaches and officials over 18 years old must adhere to the 1.5m distancing requirements. Gathering limits will not apply to those reasonably necessary to conduct the training or competition as long as they are under the 10-person maximum (e.g. umpires, coaches). Much better! Don’t forget to vote tonight for captain and Vice Captain. Thanks, Tony
12.01.2022 From Jason Chair of OTB. Just a reminder that we have the Pre Season working Bee this coming Sunday from 10:00am. The plan will be to get the boats out of the Cadet shed and give it a good clean, a tidy up in the OTB clubroom etc ready for the season opening the following weekend. We will run some informal races again this coming Sunday from 12:30 ish so that everyone can get back in the swing ready for the season, this will also help get the boats out of the cadet shed and ...make it easier to clean. Please let me know if you are about and able to help with the working bee or on water in the afternoon this coming Sunday. Thank you Jason Farnell, Director
06.01.2022 Copied and Pasted from SeaChest.
05.01.2022 Friday night training for a few lucky kids!
05.01.2022 Back to the Bay training weekend. In anticipation of the easing of restrictions for regional Victoria, we at RGYC have been working on holding a training weeken...d for our OTB sailors and others ( if allowed) towards the end of the school holidays. At this point of time we do have to wait, but are ready to pull the trigger in anticipation of reverting to stage 2. So can’t give too much detail initially but looking at 25-26 September. There will be stringent requirements re COVID 19 regulation and these will be adhered to. It is anticipated that it will be similar to last stage 2, so only participants and those actively involved will be allowed to come onsite, but there will be more detail on this as it becomes available. At this current time we have three groups and allocated coaches. Optimists- Christian Cantwell Cadets- Bully 29ers- Tom Alexander. Other classes interested, please contact me [email protected]
02.01.2022 This Sunday the 2nd session for buoyancy test and safety audit will start from 10:00am for Cadets. Afterwards (rigged and ready by 12:30) there will be a couple of informal/practice races held for ALL OTB. We will need a couple of same household parents to man the rescue boats, please let us know if you're available and able to help out.
