20.01.2022 Do I really need a will? The most basic definition of a Will is ‘a legal document in which you set out your wishes in relation to who gets your possessions, property, and assets when you die and who is in charge of finalising all your affairs.' Your Will can also state who you want to be guardian of your children if they are under 18, how you want your remains to be dealt with, and a variety of other things. None of us want to think about these things but death is the only ce...rtainty in life so it’s a good idea to be prepared. Whether or not everybody needs a Will is sometimes cause for debate which is completely unhelpful if you just need to know if you need a Will. Here is our simple checklist You need a Will if you Are married, in a de facto relationship, or otherwise have a significant other Have children (including stepchildren or adopted children) Have positive net worth If you don't fall under those categories, you are probably ok without a Will for the time being, however you may reassess things as your life changes. If you are unsure if you should have a Will, contact Rhea Law and we can help you.
