A STATE OF FIRE EMERGENCY HAS BEEN DECLARED The State of Fire Emergency prohibits the lighting of all types of outdoor fires, and bans activities that can cause fires to start.... The declaration overrides all existing permits to light fire, and bans fireworks and the lighting of any outdoor cooking fires. The declaration also PROHIBITS welding, grinding and the use of oxy acetylene cutting or heating outdoors, the use of this equipment and power tools in open areas has the potential to increase the bushfire risk, which is why it is essential people do not use these tools outdoors. The declaration also gives QFES the authority to draw on private resources, such as plant and equipment, to assist in firefighting or preparation. The penalties for contravening this declaration are serious a fine of up to $3,336 or two years imprisonment. The declaration will be in effect until revoked. Please report ALL fires to 000 immediately.

14.01.2022 This is why we don’t tow out of NSW, their rules are a joke. I pointed out that it’s ridiculous to not allow licensed insured trucks from interstate to collect a broken down car but you can hire a car trailer and with no experience restraining a vehicle and set off. For that the tools at NSW highway patrol blocked me off their page. Pretty pathetic.

13.01.2022 Seeing as almost everyone has a UHF these days, did you know which channels you should or shouldn’t use? Construction sites and traffic controllers are the worst offenders for using the wrong channels. Channels 1-8 are repeater output channels, and should not be used if you’re in range of a repeater. Channels 5 & 35 are designated emergency channels. No exceptions.... Channels 31-38 are repeater input channels, so if you speak on say ch36 you will inadvertently and unknown to you be rebroadcasting yourself on ch 6. Ch 11 is the calling channel and should only be used to initiate a conversation before changing channels. Ch’s 22&23 are for telemetry use (sending data to turn pumps on and off etc) and most UHF’s won’t allow you to talk on these channels and should be avoided. Below are some unofficial channels: Ch 10 - national parks often use this ch. Ch 18 - motor homes Ch 20 - caravans Ch 29 - Pacific hwy - Gold coast - Sydney Ch 40 - highway channel Repeaters local to us (Sunshine Coast) Ch 1 - Imbil & Stradbroke Island Ch 2 - Mt Coot-tha & Gunalda Ch 3 - Kilcoy Ch 4 - Caloundra Ch 5 - Mt Wolvi Ch 6 - Nambour Ch 7 - Mt Glorious Ch 8 - Landcruiser Mtn park Jimna Have fun! Edit: if you have an 80 channel radio, the first 40 channels are compatible with a 40 channel only radio. The extra channels are actually just channels in between the existing 40 channels.
