23.01.2022 Meeting with Mayor Bali, Kevin Jones (CEO of Blacktown Venues Management), and Councillor Carol Israel concluded earlier tonight. Some key takeaways from the discussions: - Closure is happening - end of June... - Council will take over the venue from July - If there are major bookings past this date, discuss with Kevin Jones directly and they will try their best to accommodate - Council will commence closer inspection of the premises in preparation for upcoming refurbishment project - Basketball NSW and Gymnastics NSW have expressed interest in the venue - no details as yet and any detail pertaining to tender will likely be confidential for commercial reasons, no details re: Hockey NSW - What the venue will look like or what it will be used for is dependent on what is put forward by interested parties - One of the major concerns of the council is that organisers and players who form the community are not insured for injury should something happen (unless your organisation has insurance) - Mayor Bali and Kevin Jones are willing to work with us to accommodate our venue requirements where possible - In the first instance, the intention is to cover off 75% of organisations that currently use RHLC and find alternative venues - Ideally, with some FLEXIBILITY amongst all organisers, it would be possible for cover 100% of us - Meeting to be scheduled with Kevin Jones regarding scheduling - Mayor Bali has committed to working with us around fees - we all need to accept that costs are going up, thats a fact - we need to work with them on a plan that allows us to manage our costs but also allows them to gradually scale up fees to align with the norm - Emerton Leisure Centre appears to be the option If Ive missed anything please add on.
23.01.2022 I would like everyone to also post photos of your groups or videos

23.01.2022 Announcement : It is with great Disappointment that we were not successful with the tender for Rooty Hill Leisure Centre the approval has been given to AUSTRALIAN AESTHETIC GROUP GYMNASTICS FEDERATION LTD What does this mean ? ... Increase in fees definitely Limited facility hire availability Opening hours And less of a wider community unity and engagement Thanks to all who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to try and make it work for the community. A very disappointing result to say the least.
20.01.2022 Could all organisers that have bookings on Saturdays specifically the 14th of April please message myself and Third through this Facebook page ASAP. Also looking to have another meeting this Saturday 7:30pm
18.01.2022 With great Disappointment we have received a notice that our extended local sports community that is based in Rooty Hill Leisure centre are to vacate the premises by April 20th 2018 for renovations/refurbishment.We have not been given full information of the plans or actual commencement of the renovation. Vacating the premise in short notice duly impact the community. I have set up this page for organisers to have an immediate discussion on how we can proceed as well as to show how wide and diverse the Community Rooty Hill Leisure Centre accommodates.
16.01.2022 All kids social basketball. any interested? Saturdays 7 to 8:30pm as a starter. 8 to 14 years old only. Apply what you learn from your trainings. Adjustible board. 13.01.2022 Closing down the facility is so much more than just abut the building itself: its shutting down the various community groups that call the Leisure Centre home. What consultations happened prior to this decision being made and who with? Was there any consideration given to the fact that the community groups who rely on the RHLC would be displaced? If youd like to be part of the conversation, stop by the RHLC on Tuesday night 27 March at 7:00pm and lets put our heads together and see what we can come up with.

12.01.2022 Repairs still in progress ! Council listened and took notes on some of the concerns today and is looking promising !
12.01.2022 As the councils has offered for the relocation of on going leagues I looked at what the current hours that are permanently booked at the centre for the whole week which equates to 48.5 (x2 courts) and this is only for the basketball court bookings this raises much questions on which facilities in the local vicinity could possibly accommodate for us? this leaves Emerton, Bidwill and Kevin Betts stadium but with increased court hire fees pending availabilities with 1 court fee far exceeds that of the Our centre for the hire of both courts bid will being the cheapest. Talking to these other Venues available time slots vary considerably with their current customers with Emerton only doing bookings on a week by week basis. So it is disappointing to see that we all still may lose out to this closure. see you all on Tuesday night
10.01.2022 The Eagles Tuesday Night Basketball Training is just one of the many groups that will be impacted by the RHLCs closure. The group allows the kids to not only learn basic skills for basketball but more importantly gives them the opportunity to engage and interact with other kids. If you take the centre away, you take this away from the kids.
10.01.2022 Ok. As Jeff has mentioned previously, our food truck gathering that was supposed to happen on the 14th of April which we then postponed to the 5th of May has been completely cancelled. Some things on this:... 1. The council had already given approval and then questioned the traffic congestion plan presented by the food truck organiser saying it was not satisfactory. 2. They (council) then requested for Working with Children checks for all the food trucks and provided the reason that due to the place that the event was being held (youth centre), it was a requirement. This, despite the fact that food truck events are flocked by FAMILIES ALL THE TIME but have never really been asked for this requirement. Bear in mind, at this point, they (council) already know that the event is being held at RHLC, and they had already given prior approval and at NO POINT mentioned that... 3. RHLC apparently does not have the correct type of insurance to host an event like this. This, despite the food truck organisers and the food trucks themselves having their own public liability insurances AND that the event was only ever going to be held on the parking lot and NOT inside RHLC itself. At this point, Im dumbfounded. The event was not ever going to be a protest to what was happening but rather just a celebration for the community that had called RHLC home for decades. We all understand that the centre could use a touch up and would actually welcome it. However such current state of affairs begs the following questions: what is the council trying to achieve by blocking this event, what are they trying to hide from the community, and why wont they give us any information on what is going to happen with the venue? This is your local government working (working?) for you. Make of it what you will.
10.01.2022 God bless you all wherever you are playing now. We miss you all

03.01.2022 As we draw nearer to the closure of our beloved home, it may be a good time to share your fond memories of the place. For me, this was where my son met a great group of people who started off as team mates (co-parents for me) whom we now consider ourselves fortunate to call family. How about you?... #StillCallRHLCHome
