22.01.2022 Midland Police are warning members of the public to be wary when purchasing puppies from online advertisements after two recent cases highlighted fraudulent cla...ims by the seller. In one case a man purchased a Labrador - Rottweiler cross from an online site. The seller fraudulently provided a false Responsible, Professional Breeders Association number and stated the puppy was microchipped. The seller also stated he was a breeder from Goomalling. DNA testing on the puppy revealed the puppy did not have any Labrador or Rottweiler heritage and was a mix of five difference breeds. In the second case a woman purchased an Australian Shepherd Labrador cross puppy and the seller advertised online the puppy was 9 weeks old, vaccinated and microchipped. The owner took the puppy to the vet who ascertained the puppy was only 6 weeks old and was malnourished and likely came from a puppy farm and not a responsible breeder. In both instances the people paid thousands in cash for their puppies. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au

Also just keep in mind that just because your hound seems like they want to go for a walk, you as their owner need to make the correct decision for them. Playing a mentally enriching game inside (in the air con) will be more mentally stimulating for them and a safer option. #keepingthemsafe #stayinsidestaysafe #paddlepoolsforoutsidefun

16.01.2022 AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL BREEDERS By Lynsey Smith -If you don't have goals: DONT BREED. ( Producing "great" pets, or big and impressive ISN'T a goal). Far too many breeds have been RUINED because people breed simply for pets with no REAL goals for the breed. -If you don't TEST your dogs in some way (health and/or temperament and working ability) DONT BREED ... -If you don't research the history of the breed to know what to look for (other than "great" pet or big and impressive) DONT BREED -If you don't become familiar with the dogs within the pedigree of your dogs in order to know what traits may show up in a breeding: DON'T BREED -If you breed back to back to back to back to back: STOP BREEDING -If you never hold any pups back to watch how they develop in order to determine if you are meeting your goals: DON'T BREED -If you make "picks" at birth or a week old BEFORE a pup can even show you anything about itself other than it's sex and color: DON'T BREED -If you will sell a puppy to anyone with the cash or to someone who knows nothing about the breed and you dont bother to educate them: DON'T BREED -If you "ride coattails" of other breeders in order to talk up your own dogs even though you have done nothing with them yourself (ex: "champion bloodline" or has a "famous" dog back in its pedigree): DON'T BREED (get off your arse and prove your own dogs first) -If you do not know your own dogs pros and cons and are unwilling to acknowledge their faults and adjust your program accordingly: DON'T BREED -If you do not offer to take back dogs or puppies if they are not working out for whatever reason and will allow a dog that YOU brought into this world to end up in a shelter or worse; don't say that you LOVE your breed b/c clearly you don't so do the dogs a favor and DON'T BREED -If you are unwilling to learn from others, take advice (good and bad) and in the process BETTER THE BREED: DON'T BREED -If your aim is to make a name for yourself or fatten your wallet and not to better your breed: DON'T BREED See more

The State Government is handing out a death sentence to all purebred dogs . The RSPCA has pushed to have this introduced for many years on the prentice of stop puppy farming . This will not happen. Dogswest and it’s members are fighting for the rights of all owners of purebred dogs. ... Not only does this bill affect Show dogs and breeders it will affect The working dogs and farmers. The guide dogs. The bill was taken down from the website when a number of members from Dogswest started asking questions. Only grey hounds was exempted from this bill . Why ? Because of the revenue it makes for the government. Get behind Dogswest and it’s members to fight to save the purebred. RRCWA See more

14.01.2022 ** Dermoid Education Update** ***two new photos added 12/11*** With surgery for two neck dermoids on a 10.5 week purebred complete, here are some pictures. FB w...ill likely curtain them, but WARNING nonetheless about surgery picks. The first shows the shaved neck with the opening of each dermoid where attached to the dermis. While not 100% fool proof, shaving the area of suspected dermoid will generally yield these dimples. This was the first rodeo for our new vet, but hes a skilled surgeon and, along with research, consulted with our previous vet that had performed numerous dermoid surgeries on puppies and rescues. With a good pressure wrap and forced quiet activity , things are going well. When bandage comes off in a few days, Ill update again. See more
