24.01.2022 Here is Page 30 of the Community Financial report 2018/19 showing total income... There is a discrepancy in the figures shown.. Which is the correct figure $113.9 million or $139.3 million? (Remember this is total income) More to the point which figure are the financial persons working from... $25.4 million is a huge difference. Something also to think about... A Councillor on that financial committee should have read this and seen the discrepancy.... Quiz... who is that Councillor? If this is incorrect what else is? These are the issues the new council has to look at... I don't want to come across negative but a business can't have those sort of discrepancies. Please like my page and share! See more

20.01.2022 Many people are concerned about the use of glycophosphates. There is an alternative that I researched for Farnborough State school a few years ago. You can kill weeds with steam! I went to Bundaberg to see this machine working on the Aloe Vera Farm and it worked.. There are other uses that this machine be used for. I saw the weeds die as the machine passed over. It was so simple and it worked.... Our Council could use this machine and there may not be a need for poisons again. https://www.weedtechnics.com/hi-tech-aloe-vera/ See more

16.01.2022 Come and say gday today at the Emu Park Markets!

15.01.2022 Good read.. Thank you Spectator. Read on Facebook - an interesting item about the Queensland local government elections. But first some information. Election pre-polling opens tomorrow (Monday) at 9am in Yeppoon Town Hall. It ends on March 27, with election day March 28. Postal vote applications close tomorrow (Monday) at 7pm. Many Livingstone electors are used to postal voting: about 1000 did this at the 2018 by-election and 9000 at the 2016 council election). Electors can...Continue reading

06.01.2022 There a possible new alternative to sealing roads... https://www.roadsonline.com.au/the-pros-and-cons-of-plastic/

04.01.2022 There is no easy, nor simple solution to Livingstone Shire's rural roads. But one thing is certain whatever council is now doing is not keeping rural residents happy. Even the Mayor has realised its bump-meter policy is not working. Strange that this was only discovered a month out from the election. I believe this council has to get its engineers and outdoor works staff together with the Mayor and Councillors and thrash out what's wrong and what can be done to give rural... residents and ratepayers a better deal. It has been my experience in a number of fields that the best person to talk to about a problem is the one who's been given the job of actually doing the work. I have attended more than 20 Livingstone Shire Council meetings over the past six years and I have never heard a word of wisdom from anyone except Glenda Mather and not enough Councillors and staff listen to her. My parents were on council from 1997 to 2000 and they still talk about the trip the then engineer hosted aboard a bus. Every Councillor was invited to go on the trip with then mayor Cr Barbara Wildin. The works staff, via the engineer, showed problem areas and how they not only developed and how to fix them but, more importantly, how to spot them before they killed someone. If you elect me, I will push for such a trip for all Councillors and the Mayor. I want to know that when the next council sits down to do a budget everyone the Mayor, all the Councillors and the engineering staff and works people are on the same page. It's no use listening to one council officer and spending millions on that person's say-so. I will call for a bus trip that stops at rural locations to which local residents have been invited to come along and have their say. It's their money council will be spending. I want them to have a say in how it's spent. I am a realist. There's never going to be enough money to suit everyone. But why start off with a policy that seems to waste a lot of what we do spend. I ask you to give me a chance to show how I can work for you putting forward your thoughts in the council chamber. I will only be one vote and one voice. I’m here to listen. I need the community to help me, to do this correctly. If you have an idea for our shire please send me an email rhodesjwatson @gmail.com. You can find me on Face Book or call 0423 5666 48.
