25.01.2022 A few little signs that spring is just around the corner...
24.01.2022 Its a pity hawthorn can be so weedy, this variety has shown no escape tactics as yet and is stunning at the top of the sensory garden
24.01.2022 Just spent a week in the rainforest above port Douglas in Queensland collecting Australia's native rhododendrons with tropical herbarium qld what a stunning place I can't wait to see a new cloud forest garden in a couple of years if we can resource it

22.01.2022 Winter is here, please dont despair as this is when our plants are disrobed and show all their textured glory. The gardens are crisp but show through a particular beauty so come rugged up and enjoy
22.01.2022 Spring is here!!! Seems that the weather didnt get that memo...the message seems to have got through to some of the plants though.
20.01.2022 Its hydrangea time, they are stunning and iridescent when they first come out
20.01.2022 The woolemi pine is one of my favourite trees in the garden a true living dinosaur that was found only in fossils until it was found for real in a national park near Newcastle about 20 years ago
17.01.2022 It has been a cool and windy start to spring but with warm weather the garden is coming to life with a riot of colour. Dont look for a photo, visit!
16.01.2022 Another great day for the gardens, with a dry spring the kurume azaleas are looking great, to see them at their peak this is the week!
16.01.2022 Some more autumn colour
15.01.2022 The most exquisite flower of early summer is out near the stone bridge bring your best china and enjoy a pinky in the air cuppa tea with kalmia
15.01.2022 Now this is my favourite time of year for flowers. This little beauty is about to spring out like little china tea cups down by the stone bridge. And fav. Magnolia sioboldii is out near the rockery. Come and explore the flowers of summer
15.01.2022 Heres a snapshot of some of our spring colour! These photos were taken yesterday (24/09/14)
13.01.2022 Even though summer is here the gardens can be fabulous still, there are still some flowers to see but it is best on a pleasant sunny day to bring a picnic and make time to take a break and just relax.

12.01.2022 I feel a bit like Leunigs Mr Curley sometimes. I despair at the ease of use of chainsaws matched by the lack of motivation to plant new ones. Where oh where would these ducks find nice shade for a family picnic. This weekend buy a beautiful tree for your garden so Mr Curly can continue to enjoy his duck and you get the benefits of life.
12.01.2022 For those looking for the woolemi pine, top rd at the magnolia lawn.
11.01.2022 Its fresh up the hill, but boy the views are special!
11.01.2022 There are some stunning Vireya rhododendron out at the moment. It is my favourite time of year as the weather is stunning not to hot not to cold. No excuses get out for a walk!
11.01.2022 Autumn is going to finish early so come and see now. The colour is still good
10.01.2022 For all you cherry tragics the peak will be around the 21 September if the weather is good to us
09.01.2022 There are some great autumn flowering plants out at the moment, monks hood and sedum pictured. Early autumn foliage is starting to colour. For my money I would come to the garden in autumn the garden is more subtle and detailed.
08.01.2022 Spring is fantastic and we are having great flower season, but with warm weather the Rhodies fade away. If you wAnt a last look at them doing there thing I would get in soon as I am watching them fade away slowly. But never mind cause there areole stunning flowers to come, a chance for me to get out and take some more pictures for my loyal Facebook followers and garden groupies.
07.01.2022 Some of our Hellebores (Winter Rose) in all their glory! Great plant choice for a shady spot.
07.01.2022 Spring Has Sprung, the Cherries are out in Blossom and the garden is looking spectacular!
07.01.2022 This is only 3 weeks away!!! Get your tickets, itll be a great weekend!
06.01.2022 Spring is coming but rug up and come and see the daffodils, magnolias and early rhodoes flowering, look especially at the end of the nature walk and at the bottom of the oval lawn
06.01.2022 Our Kurume bowl out in flower (Kurume azaleas)
05.01.2022 Christmas in the gardens is great, remember the picnic so you can relax and enjoy the early summer warmth before the verdant green of spring is gone. Merry Christmas
04.01.2022 A selection of the best flowers for feb. the Dorigo warratah is stunning again this year along with pineapple Lilly and hydrangeas of all sorts. If you are in for a walk the oval lawn has the best hydrangeas.
04.01.2022 If you go out in the garden today be sure to visit the lyrebird gully In it you will see the last of the big leaf flowering and coloured bracts from the new growth. There are no fury big bad wolves or teddy bears picnic. But be sure to observe the wonderful brown felt found under some of the large leaf Rhodies.
04.01.2022 New growth for the new year The gardens may not be dripping with flowers like it does in spring but there is still plenty of beautiful things to see. The Vireya Rhododendron are particularly good at the moment
03.01.2022 Cherry Blossom Festival, Please note: The National Rhododendron Gardens will not be hosting a Hanami Day event in 2014. However, the cherry blossom flowering season will continue to be a highlight of the Spring calendar. We expect mid to late September to be the prime flowering period in 2014, and were encouraging all flower lovers to come up to the Gardens anytime during that period. http://parkweb.vic.gov.au//pa/national-rhododendron-garden
02.01.2022 Look - the lady birds are putting on some new lippy and will be joined by some new friends out in the garden soon
