23.01.2022 Photo taken couple of months ago, Windemere Road. Will post more photos of Lilydale area in coming days. Things are exponentially worse it seems to me. Long dry summer not helping. Anyone want to join me in prayer? I pray every morning walking through my forest and in the chapel. These are desperate times.

21.01.2022 So distressed to see one of our fir trees dying now.

20.01.2022 Not just here :(

17.01.2022 My winter Prayer: Loving God, help us to love and care and appreciate this wonderful living world you have given us. With so many species now endangered or on t...he brink of extinction, with so much plastic pollution in our oceans, with the very life support systems of Earth in decline, with chronic overconsumption of Earths resources - the list goes on - it's time for us to change. Nearly all proposed solutions focus on what we can do individually to practically change our habits i.e. eat less meat, use less plastic, grow more food ourselves etc. While I don't disagree, I believe we need to radically change our attitude and relationship to Earth and its creatures. As the quietness of winter approaches in our beautiful corner of the world, can I suggest we change our behaviour by consciously and regularly walking in a forest, garden or park over the next few months, and spend time "encountering" a tree in a new way. Don't just look at the tree, and think of it as an object of beauty, but think of it as a living being who might want to communicate with you. Be quiet, don't try to think about the tree, simply recognise it and appreciate it. Thank it. Respect it for all that it is, not only for what it provides. Apologise to it if you have walked past it before and not really noticed it. Treat it with kindness and dignity, like you would a friend. Do this frequently, and when you really can see it as a living breathing being, then ask it to reveal something of itself to you. Then listen - with all of your senses. Let me know what you hear. God bless. See more

15.01.2022 Two backwoods at Lalla, not visible from the road. The dead one just looked progressively sicker over 12 months and is now gone. The other is in serious decline, but not from insects. There are two more dead ones on adjoining properties, mature but not old, with healthy ones nearby. It's worrying because the backwoods have been very resilient to date, while the eucalypts have succumbed to disease.

14.01.2022 I drove to Scottsdale yesterday and came back via the sidling, calling into the Woodlea Nursery on the way. I was really pleased and encouraged to see that despite such intensive plantations in the area around Scottsdale, the native forests seem pretty healthy compared to here around Lilydale. Although there was some dieback towards Springfield that I noticed from the highway, the eucalypts, backwoods and wattles seemed pretty good for much of the way until I reached the top of the sidling and the drive into Patersonia and Numamara, where ginger syndrome is evident. Also along Prossers Forest Road - photos attached.

08.01.2022 This is partly why I urge faith and prayer in the face of our sick and dying trees.

05.01.2022 You know its mainstream when it features on Houzz! Can only be positive.

04.01.2022 Bridle Track today near Sheffield

01.01.2022 Thanks Simon for these - depressing as they are. The trees dying are widespread. I cannot stress how serious this is. Not just for Tasmania, but globally.
