19.01.2022 Field trip to the very Behana George. We really are privileged to have such beautiful clear pure water. We extract this raw water to provide drinking water for a big portions of Cairns. ... Once this water its extracted it has ultra violet disinfection so it’s safe to drink. It’s then stores in several reservoirs across Cairns before being delivered via 2,200 kms of water mains to homes, schools and businesses. If you haven’t visited before, this is one very beautiful part of our region.
19.01.2022 Meet Teeya Ryan, artist and year 12 student at Redlynch State College. Teeya is also the winner of the Tanks Curator’s Award at this year’s ENERGY 2020 visual arts exhibition. I was so very proud to present to her this week. Such a talented young lady. Her prize? Her very own solo exhibition at Tanks Arts Centre. ... The young artist is one of 126 students from 20 schools whose artworks are on display in Tank 4 until October 5. Definitely worth a visit and be prepared to be blown away. Energy 2020 | Exhibition
18.01.2022 The next cleanup is this Saturday at Holloway’s beach. If you are interested and have a spare hour or two please come along. Machans Beach was a great success last week with lots of lovely residents coming out, let’s do the same at Holloway’s.
18.01.2022 Like to have your say?
17.01.2022 What a difference a day makes! Pic 1 & 2 Monday 3&4 Tuesday... Huge tides and strong winds over the weekend caused significant erosion at Holloway’s Beach over the weekend. Beach erosion will always happen following extreme events. Bring in CRC Works team.thanks guys. Our expert consultants believe that the rock groynes currently under construction will assist in minimising the effect of these weather events by trapping sand travelling south to north, over time providing a build up of sand on the beach. Not a magic pill but we are expecting improvement.
17.01.2022 This Saturday if you would like to be involved. See you there.
15.01.2022 If you belong to a community group and are looking at events in 2021 then check this out
10.01.2022 Given what 2020 has been, this was a great event. Everyone pulled together to put in place what was a very different graduation for the 2020 year 12 crew, street was closed and as the graduates poured out on the street it was quite emotional. Congratulations to all who have worked on this for months. I felt very proud to be a part of this community. Well done! Last but not least big big congratulations to all graduates
10.01.2022 Smithfied.....If you would like to be involved in this please find the details in the link below.
10.01.2022 Great Northern Cleanup Machans Beach . Big thanks to Sue ,Cory, Danora, Nathan and Michelle, with some of our proudest reservists and the wonderful Machans Beach community . We thought Machans looked really clean so it was surprising how much rubbish was collected.
05.01.2022 Big Thankyou to those that came out to the Great Northern Cleanup at Smithfield . Thanks Linda Cooper-LNPfor Barron River for giving us a few hours of your already busy day. Many thanks to Smithfleld Library crew Danielle and Cate. Big Gig Thankyou to the littlest helper who turned out to be the biggest and cutest helper. I think he picked up his body weight in rubbish.
04.01.2022 Very important to call in and report any dog attacks or behaviour that could be considered confrontational. Council can only act if this is reported.. the sooner the better.
04.01.2022 Great day for a cleanup.
