25.01.2022 I heard from a teaching colleague today. I knew him 47 years ago at a high school in Sydney. He taught maths, I taught music. He's found my book and my music and wants to play several pieces for flute and piano with his daughter. How fantastic is that!

22.01.2022 I'd love for you to play some of my music and the printed music for each piece on the CD is available. Email me.

09.01.2022 Welcome to "FLIGHT" Original music for combinations of piano, flute, cello, clarinet, guitar, treble recorder and voice. It creates images, tells stories, evokes impressionistic scenes, and sometimes laughs. "Rhonda Macken's flute pieces are both interesting and easy on the ear. The haunting flute melodies, sometimes evocative of the east, suit the instrument perfectly." Jane Rutter.... It's called "Flight" as the music was for many years buried by childhood trauma but is now free to breathe and soar into full flight.

09.01.2022 I think a brief description of the music will help you to want to play or sing it. THE FLUTE MUSIC "Rhonda Macken's flute pieces are both interesting and easy on the ear. The haunting flute melodies, sometimes evocative of the east, suit the instrument perfectly. I recommend it to students and professionals as a romantically inspired piece ideal for light concerts and examinations. ... Jane Rutter. REFLECTION (flute and piano) A work in 7/8, the piano leading the flute into motives and the flute joining in with the harmonies as they build and retreat. COLOUR ME YESTERDAY (flute and piano) Like a slow movement from a Concertante --very lyrical HEDGEROWS and GREENFIELDS (flute and piano) A 3 movement work that in parts is fun, playful and at times a lilting siciliano. It will take you into the English countryside. THE MOUNTAINS (flute, clarinet, piano) A 3 movement work that takes you for a journey into the Blue Mountains outside Sydney. You'll feel the solidity of the rocks, the mist of the valleys and the beauty felt by humans as they walk through. SUNRISE on the CITY HARBOUR (flute, cello, piano) Sit and watch the dawn sun rising slowly over the horizon. Hear the movement as the night life of the city retreats and the day begins. I'll tell you about the music for piano and the music for voice tomorrow.

07.01.2022 GO to http://rhondaflight.hearnow.com to listen to the music and perhaps purchase a track or two. Reflective and lyrical, this musical storytelling will take you to different places and leave you calm and traveled.

06.01.2022 I've done it! Love you to listen. Here's the link to my interview on ABC's All in the Mind: https://www.abc.net.au//creating-selves-to-survive/11570864
