13.01.2022 Oops, our last hardwood post has collapsed after being weakened by termites and under the weight of the 6 year-old dragon fruit. The rain and wind over the las...t few days might have been the last straw. :-( Help your self to cuttings - the delicious red fruit is sweet and juicy, and gets pollinated by bees and other insects, no hand pollinating at night required for this variety! ;-) The River Heads Food Forest is located at 45 Ariadne Street River Heads, and is outside the fenced community garden. Please join our Facebook group for updates on the garden.

07.01.2022 Major impact on migratory shorebirds averted! The Australian Government has decided to refuse a proposed development at Turtle Cove in Queensland adjacent to on...e of the most important sites for migratory shorebirds in Australia. The major development precinct was planned on a parcel of land adjacent to a large claypan roost site that regularly supports over 1% of the global population of Endangered Far Eastern Curlew, and at times has supported over 1000 individuals of the species (>3% of the world population). There is only a handful of roost sites in THE WORLD that support these sorts of numbers of curlew. You can read the full details of the story behind the refusal by searching for Turtle Cove at http://epbcnotices.environment.gov.au/publicnoticesreferrals

07.01.2022 Second Saturday of each month at the River Heads Hall.

06.01.2022 Don't forget!! The AGM of the Progress Assn is on at the hall on Tuesday 8 September at 6.00pm. There will be reports on progress/outcomes with the Turtle Cove Development and the proposed car park in Ariadne Street as well as election of office bearers for 2020/21. Please make the effort to attend so that we can keep RHPA ticking along and doing good things for our community. It's been a tough year with Covid happening so your support would be greatly appreciated. https:...//riverheads.org.au/review/ -- Billie Rustin President River Heads Progress Assn Inc Ph: 0499992442 Email: [email protected] Web: www.riverheads.org.au See more
